  1. Are you aware of the 887 concession? There isn’t much time but you can still possibly do it. You will be able to apply for the 887 with 18 months of residency instead of 2 years. The big catch is you need to apply offshore so will need to leave Australia. Not ideal I know.

    887 visa

Did you apply for the 887 before or after your 489 expired?

    887 visa

Sorry this is totally wrong! I have corrected the years! It has been a long week!

    887 visa

How long have you been waiting? judging from comments online applications submitted in September and October 2019 are now being processed. I am in Australia waiting for my 887. I applied back in June 2019. Hoping for a direct grant!
  5. You have around 22 months left of your 489 so there is a slight chance you can still be eligible for the 887. Move to Australia ASAP. Build up 18 months of living and 9 months working. Apply for your 887 offshore (not ideal I know!) under the current concession. - https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/skilled-regional-887#Eligibility However this is dependant on: Getting over the border. (maybe you could if your a family of a citizen or PR). If not there is around 3-4 months for the government to let everyone else in. The government not changing the goal posts on the current concessions.
  6. I don't believe you will get a grant until you have a travel exemption. Not 100% sure though. Someone else might be able to confirm.
  7. If you had a Citizenship application in progress I thought you had to inform the department?
  8. I did have a look but it doesn’t appear. It was around 6 weeks ago when I made the payment.
  9. How do you check if the payment has been credited please?
  10. Q1 - 5 years from grant. So the travel right will expire Feb 2022. Check your grant letter for the exact date. Based on this you will need a RRV. Unless you become a citizen before this point.
  11. I wouldn't go off the 2021 results. It was the teachers who determined the grades (due to COVID). The same year the UK recorded record GCSE results across the country. Funny that....
  12. Schools rated Outstanding can go well over 10 years without an inspection. In that time a lot can happen and I have seen schools that have that rating but are far from Outstanding. It's worth keeping that in mind. OP - I wouldn't worry about the accent thing. There a kids in schools from all over the world (and country!). She won't stick out as much as you think.
  13. This is a minor setback in comparison to the rest off the process. If you're stressed about this you should get a migration agent to correct this and do the rest of the process for you.
  14. To be fair that happens whilst working and living in Australia
  15. I find this very strange. A few months back SA was looking at a home quarantine trial.
  16. Sorry - I don't really know. I don't have kids so it's not something I take notice of.
  17. Based on this post I would say yes, it is required.
  18. The Northern suburbs are generally considered to be better and a covered by a good public transport network. Personally I like Sandgate and the surrounding suburbs.
  19. It's a shame they haven't considered those who aren't permanent and call Australia home. 489 holders for example. Scomo did say family of PR and Citizens, as I am the de facto partner of a Aussie maybe that would pass? Although I have an PR application (887) in progress so I won't be able to leave anyway would I?
  20. I arrived before COVID and used a smart gate. Had no issues. It was very uneventful!
  21. When I applied for my 489 the EOI was submitted. Then an application for SA state sponsorship. When SA approved the sponsorship I was automatically invited to apply for the 489.
  22. I know someone who did this on a 489 visa. They were granted an 887 PR visa without any issues.
  23. I would get to see them one last time. Not necessarily on a death bed but see them as I want to remember them. I also missed a friends wedding. Something I would like have very much to attend.

    Agent Fees

I really struggled to find an agent for my 887 visa. Contacted a few. Some didn't want to do take it on and others didn't even reply. When I was doing my 489 it seemed much easier. People gave me a quote right there and then. It's a shame the person who did my 489 visa is no longer an agent. In the end I applied for the 887 alone.
  25. The thing that plays on my mind is not being able to go back incase something happens. Such as someone passing away (or worse about to) etc.
