  1. This is what I was thinking about last light. I left the UK when I was 28. I paid a pension since is was 16, so only 12 years of contributions. I am wondering it it's worth keeping up with NI payments?
  2. They are not making much (if any) money from visas. It certainly isn't helping them get through COVID.
  3. Singapore Airline offer the same as standard. Plus you will have 10KG extra per person for a migration flight.
  4. They give you 10KG on top of what you get as standard. If you fly business class you will get 50KG. More than 2 cases worth.
  5. Singapore airlines offer additional baggage for migration flights. What class are you flying? Some airlines offer more than others as standard - you might not need additional baggage.
  6. You haven't given us much information but as an ICT Manager I wouldn't consider these to be ICT related tasks. It sounds more related to a marketing position. You may well meet the criteria for the skills assessment but haven't addressed this well enough. Without being offensive the way you have posted on here supports this. I suggest you seek professional assistance.
  7. Agreed. I suspect Qantas only opened up bookings to get some cash flowing. They will hold onto this money from bookings and refund it if they can’t honour the flight. By that point they will have money from future bookings. It will be cheaper than getting a loan.
  8. Based on what’s happened other the past 12 months I doubt it.
  9. I find Adelaide has pubs where you can get a drink and good quality food. Brisbane was slim pickings. You can get to anywhere in Adelaide within around 20 mins (not literally but most places). Makes for a much better work life balance as commuting times are minimal.
  10. It looks like from the attached I won’t need a new police certificate from the UK. My expired certificate will do. I did return to the UK since my certificate expired but only for 2 weeks. Certainly helps with the turnaround time and saves a few bucks. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/what-we-do/skilled-migration-program/skilled-visa-newsletters/november-2019?fbclid=IwAR1gHIw3MC37RZr2WXmZrsh2b37AuMKTiKZdG9RbEQJ_UehE01V-QIiLg2I
  11. Thanks for the clarification. Much appreciated.
  12. Just to clarify, like Ken, you saying it must be less than 12 months when I receive the grant please? I won't need a medical for the 887. This is another issue. It went from 24 months to 4 months. Now back to 21 months. It's all over the place! Thank you
  13. This is my point. It does say it is valid for 12 months from the date of issue. However is this 12 month window from the date I apply.? The date the case officer reviews it or the date it is granted? If I submit a fresh check with my application and it takes them 13 months to even look at it I might be in trouble? I am trying to figure out when that 12 month clock starts and stops ticking. Sorry if I am not clear. I did think about this. However the UK check takes 12 working days. And then it needs to be posted from the UK (they do not offer email). At the moment it is taking around 3 weeks for air mail to arrive. That is a 5 - 6 week turn around. When they ask for documents I think they only give you 28 days to respond with documents. Thanks for the reply.
  14. Hello, I will be applying for my 887 (On shore) via in the next few months. I am reviewing what documents I require and have a couple of queries in regards to the police check. I am looking at this page and have a couple of questions that I hope someone could clarify please. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/skilled-regional-887#HowTo 1. In relation to the bold text. Does the validity date of 12 months of issue apply to the date I submit the application or grant please? For other visas (such as 190, 489 etc) it's 12 months from issue to crossing the border and that wouldn't apply in this case. So I assume its 12 months from the application date? 2. It doesn't state how long overseas certificates are valid for. Can i use the same certificate that I used for my 489 visa please? Or is this 12 months as well and I will need a fresh one? I am assuming its the latter. Thank you.
  15. It will be much easier if you got an Australian licence. It's extremely useful for ID.
  16. If you leave the regional area on a 489 you're in breach of your visa conditions. That will no reflect well when you apply for a 887. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/already-have-a-visa/check-visa-details-and-conditions/see-your-visa-conditions?product=489-37#
  17. Agreed. But the state doesn't "feel poor" like you make out.
  18. It's not all like that. Port Lincoln has the most millionaires per capita in Australia,
  19. I have lived in Brisbane and now I live in Adelaide. Personally I would pick Adelaide. 1. Less humid - it doesn't bother me but I saw you mentioned it. 2. Commuting is easy. Everywhere seems to be 20 minutes away. There isn't a huge amount of traffic. 3. There is a variety of different types of places in such a small space. You can be in the hills and quickly be at the beach. 4. The people are more friendly. - No offence queenslanders! It also seemed much easier to make friends here. 5. The cost of living is generally lower (apart from electricity) but wages are around the same in my profession. 6. Cheaper public transport - providing it covers where you need to go. The network isn't as comprehensive here and does have gaps. Adelaide isn't all that far from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Day and weekend trips (via a plane) are an option.
  20. For question 1 I believe as the main applicant you can apply for the 887 for both of you. I worked with someone who married a lady from overseas. She got a subsequent entry 489 visa and applied for the 887 near enough straight away as he became eligible for the 887 whilst they were waiting for the grant of his new wife's 489. You might want to do more research into this as the 887 visa hasn't been granted... For question 2: According to this page you need "Functional English" for the 887 visa. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/skilled-regional-887#Eligibility That link takes you to this page: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/meeting-our-requirements/english-language/functional-english So assuming you're from the UK you won't need to take anymore tests. The OP is onshore. There is no concession for on sure applications for the resident requirements. There work requirements have reduced from 12 to 9 months. The concessions are fairly straight forward and can be found here: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/skilled-regional-887#Eligibility
  21. According to this page you need "Functional English" for the 887 visa. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/skilled-regional-887#Eligibility That link takes you to this page: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/meeting-our-requirements/english-language/functional-english So for the request of language evidence I would upload a copy of her UK passport.
  22. I get there is a priority but how would they call these people up?
  23. Hello, I have just announcement that the COVID vaccine is due to be rolled out soon. I am curious as to how they do this? Do they go off the Medicare database? I have a Medicare. I have used it once when I was away from my home state and that has been it. I am on a 489 so I am not sure if that makes a difference to eligibility? I will be applying for my 887 in a few months so I will be entitled to full Medicare soon anyway. Probably too early to ask but I thought I would throw it out there. Cheers.
  24. Northern Ireland is part of the UK. It isn't a separate country. So it wouldn't be classed as international travel and thus doesn't need to be included.
