  1. Hello, I am looking to appeal to the Aus immigration powers, to lay oit the scenario that we have found ourselves in and I thought there may be more power in numbers. So our visa went active August 2019 and we we arranged to move in May 2020. If you are in a similar situation you will know that the first entry date rule has been waived, but that doesn't stop us 'losing time' available to build up to apply for permanent residency. I have seen that recently there have been some concessions applied to assist (some) who have been in the country and not quite attained the full application requirements and it is my intention to try and make plain my/our issues and hope that some relevant consessions will be made to suit our circumstance. So, please only join in here if you fit this scenario. All the best Darren

    Second year visa wait

Hey Everyone, I applied for my second year visa on the 19th of Dec and haven't heard anything. My boyfriend and I worked on the same farms for the same time and he got his visa approval back straight away. The only question we answered differently was that I had been outside of the UK for more than 6months. Is it because I out this that it is taking longer? We wanted to fly back out on the 23rd of Jan bit worried it will take ages as some people have said they are still waiting 2/3months later? My mum is flying out in the 4th of Feb so I hope I get it! Please help with any other similar stories or why you think it is taking so long? I am really stressing!
  3. I am 74 and my wife is 65. Both our children live in Australia, in Adelaide and Melbourne. We are hoping to go out on a subclass 143 Contributory Parent Visa which on average takes about 18 months to process. I understand that the initial visa application charge is A$1735 covering both my wife and I, and that the final visa application charge is at present A$37965 each. We would prefer spending as much time as possible in Australia while we are waiting for our visa application to be processed, so how can we go about this legitimately. On our visits we were issued with the normal electronic holiday visa which lasts 3 months I believe, and our purpose of visit stated “holiday”. Can we extend that visa once we are out there or do we need the Tourist subclass 676 visa for 12 months which costs about A$100 each. Would we need to go offshore near the end of the visa if we wanted to apply for another holiday visa? Finally, our state pensions and private pensions are paid into our banks in UK. Do we wait until our Contributory Parent Visa has been approved before we open an Australian bank account
  4. Hello, I applied for a Partner Visa 820 with all the required documentation in Melbourne over four weeks ago. I have not heard anything yet from Immigration, does anyone know roughly how long it takes to get a case officer and decision time? Perhaps I am expecting things to happen to quick, but having paid all that money I need to start working pretty soon. Thanks for any help you can give!

Still waiting for visa please help

Hi thanks for reading, my boyfriend and I have both applied for working holiday visas and his arrived within 48 hours as it should. It has been 10 days and I still have not received mine. It says online 90% should be done within 48 hours. I am just wondering if anyone else has been in the situation where they have been waiting for it to arrive and have entered austrailia on a different visa whilst waiting for their working holiday visa to be approved and if so how did they do it. I have found it very difficult to find a definitive answer online and would be extremely gratefull if someone could help! many thanks guys!

    Staying in Australia after graduation

Hello everyone, next year I will have the opportunity to study in Australia for one year in order to complete my bachelor in computer science. I thinking of staying there after I graduate (the climate and beaches seem amazing) and I was wondering what my opportunities are. The occupation that I'll graduate to is in the "Occupation on demand" list, I have also looked at the Point Test online and my score would be of 60 points once I graduate. However I was wondering if I would have to leave Australia while processing the "permanent residence" visa or if there is a way I could stay in Australia after my student visa expires. I read there is a temporary graduate visa, however I don't think I can apply to it since it requires two years of study in Australia (I will only be doing one). So yeah I just want to get an idea what my opportunities will be to stay in Australia once I graduate (if any ). Thanks

    Visa Decision time

Hi As anybody applied for a visa short stay visa? What sort of time frame do they ususally take? My father applied on 2nd October and initially they came back asking additional questions anout his criminal record which we answered but we haven't heard anything at all since. I have rang the Australian embassay in London and all they can see on his file notes is the initial questions asked on 2nd October but nothing else. We have sent numerous emails on the advice of the advisor in London but have had no response. Does anybody know who we would be best to contact? As we are all waiting on a decision so we can book our trip and are getting quite anxious. Thanks for any help. 13. Hello lovely Poms in Oz'ers! I am new to this forum but having read many other links I really hope you can help me with my sticky situation. So, I'll start from the begining. My partner is Australian, we met in London whilst he was on a working-holiday visa here for two years. We were together for 8 months until his visa was due to expire and he moved back to Australia. This was in March 2011. Since then, due to work commitments (and also because I come from a culture where I am not really allowed to just live with him until we are married) we have been in a long distance relationship. We have both flown to each others countries as well as meeting up in Dubai and Sri Lanka to ensure we maintain our relationship. We also speak every day through skype and various other means. Anyways on one of our travels, my partner (NP) proposed! I of course said yes but he still had to return to oz and myself back to London. We are now in the process of planning a wedding. The wedding will take place in London but we do not intend to live here, the plan is for me to go to Australia with him straight after the wedding. The wedding is in October this year (2013) so 9 months away but I am so stuck when it comes to what type of visa i should be applying for based on the time constraints. The fiance visa says it takes 5-10 months to process and also prior to the wedding day i have to enter australia in order to validate the visa. I feel like this is cutting it rather close! The other option is to be married here in London and then I fly to Australia as a tourist and once we are on shore I can apply for the partner visa as we will be married and I will also be living with him at that point. I am concerned about any risks in doing it this way. What would you all do/ advise in this situation? Thank you so so so much for any help, I'm so confused! H xxx
  14. Hi My Wife wanted to move back to Qld and I have come along as well but am having a terrible time trying to live here. We moved over on the 21st April, got married 4 weeks later and then, thankfully I had to return to UK and Spain for 7 weeks, which, apart from wedding day, has been the only time I've been happy since April. We have moved to the sunshine coast, to a 'village' called buderim. Its like going back in time, everything is so backward here, people hardly ever talk ot each other let alone us. I introduced myself to 2 neighbors, 1 just sneered through the window and the other looked at me like a rapist. The only people who have actually spoken to me are an elderly couple who turned out to be English! Before moving here I spent alot of time cycling, running going to gym and surfing. Since being here I hardly do anything, the surf is always flat or packed with people who are blind or arrogant, am fed up of people dropping in or trying to stare me out of the water, the gyms are under equipped and tiny and I'm finding cycling hard as I am constantly dripping in sweat if I so much as walk in the sunlight. I hate the weather, boiling hot and burning sun or boiling hot and biblical rain! Since moving here I also seem to be getting a lot of headaches which is new for me. Has anyone else had a similar experience and if so please let me know how you beat it as I'm getting to breaking point. Please don't reply with "its so wonderful here, I wish I'd moved earlier' Am sure lots of people like it even more than I hate it, but not finding those comments to helpful at the mo. Cheers J
  15. Can anyone enlighten me as to the processing times at the mo for a 119 visa, it has all be submitted to Diac. Now the normal response via the website is 5-7months but on the government website current processing times are between 8-12wks. It was submitted on the 6th Jan '11. Thank you. simon
  16. Given the recent changes from ASCO codes to ANZCO codes, and the change in priority processing I find myself in cat 4 despite having previously received state sponsorship (or at least until the SMP are published). So I am considering starting a new Visa application but under the new ANZCO descriptions I believe I can justifiably apply for 2 different skills assessments. What I want to know is, can you apply to the ACS and can you be granted 2 different skills assessments.

    Poms in OZ Time Capsule

I'm not sure if this is going to work but I thought it would be great for members new and old to share what's happening in their life right now (nothing to personal thank you:biggrin:) and what they think they will be doing in 5 years time. I thought we could then close the thread in a few months and file it away to be opened 5 years later and see where we all are and if our thoughts/dreams come true.:hug: let's pray that when we open it in 5 years time those who are waiting for their visas have been successful. I'll start but will create it on a separate post
  18. Hi All, Not sure if there is another thread concerning the same thing (I couldn't find one), but I was hoping if anyone in the same boat as my partner and I could post their Partner visa 309 application timelines. My partner Ben and I submitted ours last week to the Australian embassy in England. It is complete with police checks etc. and has been paid for. At the moment I only have the embassy's website processing times to go by, but I have been told a few different things. Our close friends applied for the same visa and it was granted in 2 days! Also, our migration agent has suggested that ours could be processed in around 4-6 weeks as it is a pretty straight forward application. My partner and I have been together nearly 4 years, he is English and I am Australian by birth, neither of us have any criminal history, we have a house together etc and it is only him applying so it's pretty straight forward. Has anyone else been through this or currently going through the process? :-) Lauri
  19. Hi all, Please can someone confirm when this DRC checklist (using RMA agent) started for ENS 121 visa and what's the current time frame for nursing profession. My wife' is a nurse and her employer NSW Health is happy to sponsor for 457 but refusing for ENS 121 as it takes months to process. Being a big employer any idea how much time it will take for their Nomination to appove and then if we lodge visa application using DRC then roughly how much time it will take. They want her to start work in May or June so if the whole process (Nomiation and visa) takes 4-5 months then we can request them to sponsor for PR visa. Appreciate any info/advice. ...Mansawant
  20. Does anyone know the approximate time it takes to transfer a 457 work visa, from one employer to another? Both are in the same line of job. Both companies in the same state.
  21. Hi, Wondering if anyone here has recently dealt with ANMC for modified assessment? What has been their processing time? Merry Christmas
  22. THIS IS YOUR ONE STOP SHOP FOR ALL THINGS SAUSAGE RELATED!!! fantastic old English pork bangers @ Tasman meats in Belmont. you heard it here first. Have you found a decent banger lately? If so, where? Or report dodgy snags masquerading as gourmet sausages right here!
  23. Hi, The agent lodged my ENS Sub 856 application with decision ready checklists about 1 and half months ago. Does anybody tell me how long the whole processing time for PR approval will be in normal situation? Many thanks in advance.
  24. Chaps General consensus is that it is about 7-10 days before they release it although it does depend, I know, on other circumstances. when I shipped items before it was about 7 days, but Kent Moving, over here, advised that with our ship docking in Melbourne on the 17 Feb, we would not see our stuff until 7 or 8 March. That seems a very long time, so can anyone advise the length of time they have waited, recently, for their container to be released and thus delivered? Thanks Sip
  25. Hi Every one, can you plz help me by providing the visa timeframe for Offshore (subclasses 309 and 100) visas especially from the Middle East. Thanks in Advance
