  1. The reason I ask is if there are more guys into beers there are a good few places I know that do al sorts of craft beers. But if there is a mix of people there are other places.
  2. What kind of thing are you into? Are you single or a couple?
  3. I’m in the southern suburbs. Mitcham. Although it’s a quick train ride to the CBD.
  4. Hello, I am currently in SA on a 489 visa. I will be stung on the stamp duty if I purchase a property. I am wondering if I took out a joint mortgage with an Aussie citizen if the tax on “foreign investors” will be reduced please? I did a bit of Googling without much luck! Cheers
  5. Im a northerner in Adelaide. Will I be allowed please?
  6. I can't really see why this will be an issue. With a 887 visa you need to: Work in the region for 1 year minimum 35 hours a week. Live in the region for 2 years. Considering you only migrated in September 2019 you still have a while before the meet the 2 year residence requirement. Assuming you are going to carry on working, by time you meet the 2 year residence requirement you should have gained (or be very close to) the required 1 year work experience.
  7. Here in Adelaide we are really struggling to find decent IT people. Only managed to find 2 decent systems engineers since Christmas.
  8. I thought I would add a screenshot from the form that states the criteria.
  9. Thanks for taking the time to reply
  10. I was wondering if I can bump this please?
  11. Thanks to all those whole replied. In the end I didn't take the job. There were other things in the contract and my gut was telling me not to take the job.
  12. Hello, I moved from the North West to Adelaide. I love it and feel at home. Im sure you will also like it!
  13. Someone took my passport photo on my iPhone. I just took the photo against a white wall and with lots of natural light. They accepted it with no dramas.
  14. Hello, I am 29 on a 489 visa, I have been in Australia since June 2019. I am looking to get health insurance for 2 reasons. 1. If I get it whilst under 30 it will be cheaper for the rest of my life. 2. So I don't pay the Medicare Levy Surcharge. I have spoken to a few people and received conflicting information and I am a little confused. I was wondering if someone can help with a few questions please? 1. Is there some kind of Waiting / hold time before I can use / take out private health cover please? Some people have said I do? 2. Some people have said that you don't pay the Medicare Levy & Medicare Levy Surcharge on a 489 visa. I do have a reciprocal agreement card. Is this true please? 3. What is the minimum cover required so you don't pay the Medicare Levy Surcharge please? 4. How is the Medicare Levy Surcharge paid? Is it taken out of my wage or maybe via the tax return? If I take out the insurance how do I arrange not paying the Medicare Levy Surcharge please? Thanks for the help
  15. I don't have that much holiday so all good! Thank you both for taking the time to reply.
  16. Hello, I am fortunate enough to have a job that has a healthy amount of annual leave. I am keen to use this to visit other parts of Australia and overseas. I am on a 489 visa sponsored by SA. I am wondering if there is a maximum period of time I can be outside of the state please? I won't be living or working outside the regional area just visiting. Thanks
  17. I live in Adelaide and I would avoid Hallett Cove. All the poms seem to go there and the Aussies look down on it a little. Im here to integrate not segregate myself. I would avoid areas north of the CBD as many are quite rough. In particular avoid Elizabeth, Salisbury and the surrounding areas. South of the CBD are nicer areas. Mitcham, Unley, Belair. East and West of the CBD are nice.
  18. Good Morning, I am based in SA and I have been offered a new position as a senior manager. I am reviewing the documents and the notice period is 6 months. Is this usual please? My current position (manager) is 4 weeks. 6 months seems quite excessive. Thanks
  19. I wouldn't have thought that would count no. You're not residing in the country, just visiting. For the sake or 6 weeks it's not really worth the hassle and risk. Just apply for the 887 6 weeks later than you planned.
  20. Mine where 12 months from the medical. However someone I know who was granted after me had first entry 12 months from grant.
  21. FYI - The 489 visa has now finished and has been replaced by the 491 visa. You cannot apply for the 489 anymore. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/skilled-work-regional-provisional-491
  22. It may be simple for you. If you follow this link you can do most of it online. https://www.gov.uk/renew-adult-passport/renew You will need to send off your old passport back to the UK. They will post it back to you with the corner cut off. This will be posted separately from your new passport. It's a quick process these days. Should only take a few weeks - mostly because of slow postage. However - if your passport was issued in the 80's it may take longer (6 weeks I believe).
  23. How long have you been waiting please?
  24. This guy is a troll. On another post they claim they hadn't showered in 6 weeks.
  25. I do believe they do. I met a Qantas pilot who does long haul routes. He recently became a citizen and he is out of the country a lot.
