  1. We lived in Melbourne and moved over to WA for the same reason, OH a FIFO worker and was losing too much time travelling. Albany and Esperance are a long way from Perth Airport, not good for coming off a 4 week swing and having to drive another 7 hours! I would definately stay further up.
  2. Well its obviously a load of rubbish if they think a weekly shop is 42GBP!, or 33 in the UK
  3. There is no primary applicant. Everyone has to have their own RRV so you need to apply for 4!
  4. You will pay tax here, the rent you make is income. You can offset things like maintenance, mortgage interest, agent fees etc.
  5. Of course it is! One of the popular questions on migration forums and FB pages is people asking "what benefits am I entitled to! some before they have even set foot in the country!
  6. Probably to make sure that people fully understand what its like living in the NT, the extreme heat etc, living costs. Its not exactly the same as living in the middle of Melbourne!
  7. Maybe you should tell people what suburb it is so they know where to avoid. Certainly not my experience of Australia either!
  8. I wouldnt be trying to change at the moment. The 457 is due to go sometime in March and you may not get the same conditions with the new visa
  9. We had membership in Melbourne, didnt think it was that great.
  10. Mostly packed lunches I would think at Primary and Kindy. I lived in Melbourne and Perth and both schools my daughter went didnt do lunches. Maybe a bit too hot to be eating hot lunches every day! Our primary now has canteen facilities but they are only open 2 days a week and they order in from the High school. You definately dont get them free!
  11. But you havent made 45 years contributions here but do you expect to get Medicare free?
  12. That is not new legislation. For at least the last 10 years if you come over straight away on a PR visa you need to have 4 years residency before you can apply for citizenship. You CANNOT be absent for more than a year in the four year period. Residency requirements are have lived in Australia on a valid Australian visa for four years immediately before applying must have been a permanent resident for the 12 months immediately before making an application and not have been absent from Australia for more than one year in total, during the four year period, including no more than 90 days in the 12 months before applying.
  13. I dont think it will be a problem. I had mine removed because of graves and on medication and everything was fine.
  14. Definately, think he has used up all his chances! Surely cant be looking for the sympathy vote because he is getting on a bit, doesnt deserve any
  15. No not clever at all, only picked a place that I have been a few times, so stop trying to shit stir!
  16. It takes 4 days actually and that is stopping overnight, have done it several times.
  17. No difference really than flying from Uk to say Tenerife for a holiday then, but no one says the UK is isolated!
  18. Why is it isolated? Its not like once you get here you cant get out, get on a plane, it not a problem.
  19. Did her parents have PR when she was born here? If not she will not be a citizen even if she was born in Australia. Have they taken out citizenship now?
  20. I wouldnt think the reason you were out would matter! A lot of people would try that if you could. I was out longer and I had extra time added on after my 4 years were up. I dont think the application lets you go any further if your residency is not enough.
  21. Johnny Depp didnt get away with it!
