  1. My 18 year old friend studied hard last year and this year has been offered a uni place. She was born in Australia of UK born parents. This disqualifies her from accessing HECS loan for uni like other Aussies can, apparently. It doesnt sound right or seem fair. Especially in light of the hundreds of Aussie politicians with dual citizenship who have served in Parliament contrary to the Constitution. Can anyone she some light on why an Aussie born girl who has lived here for all of her 18 years is not entitled to Aussie rights? Cheers.

So I just got my 189 visa

So I just got my 189 visa, now I'm looking to do my master degree in Australia. I have found the suitable postgraduate coursework for me and I have confirmed with the university that it is one of the commonwealth supported place. My question is as follows: 1. As a holder of 189 visa, am I eligible for CSP/HECS? *note: One Uni said to me you need to be a citizen / a holder of a permanent humanitarian visa to access this benefit, but my friend who has a permanent resident visa can access this benefit. 2. Are there any differences between CSP and HECS? 3. With the new Education budget for 2014-15 in place, how does it affect me as a new student? *note: in Layman's term please! Thanks!

    HECS Debt

Hi Everyone, another question.... Does HECS debt (from uni study in 1998 and 2000/1) count as " outstanding debts to the Australian Government or any public authority in Australia?" - which is question 43 on the 40SP form Would appreciate any thoughts Cheers x
  4. Hey guys - almost there and now just going though the final nitty gritty questions! Does anyone know if a HECS debt for university study needs to be included as an outstanding debt to the commonwealth on the applicants sponsors form? Any help would be great...will be at the embassy in London on Monday to hand in! Thanks all as ever Jen
