Thanks for reading this post, I am desperately tying to find out the answer to this and my agent is unsure. We are hoping to move to SA this year and have applied for a Skilled - Regional (Subclass 489) (Provisional). I currently work for a global financial company and my current job, although based in the UK - requires time to support many countries. my question is: if I was to continue working in this job but be based from my new home (in an acceptable regional postcode in SA) for the 2 years. Would it satisfy the requirements of the 489 visa? any help would be greatly appreciated! thank you

Hi We have just joined and are in the process of getting my husband's skills assessed. We are now a little worried since I have read some posts on here about it being difficult to get a visa because of a child's condition. We have talked about it and decided we still want to go ahead but feel we need to do all we can to make sure we have the best possible chance. Therefore I wonder if anyone can give us any advice. Our 4 year old has global developmental delay, he has a statement of educational need and is about to start at the local special school as that is where we decided was best for him at this time. He has no medical needs and his main needs at the moment are speech and language and understanding. He is probably about a year and a half behind his peers at the moment in these areas. He continually makes good progress and we hope in the future he will attend a mainstream school with little support. What I would like to know is what we can do to make sure when he has the medical that he passes as it were? Also, we were wondering if people think it is worth front loading the medicals so once the case officer is assigned then there may be less problems as they will have been sorted out - or will this not make any difference as the problems only come up once the case officer is assigned? We are going to apply for a 175 skilled visa. Once the case officer is assigned do they give you a limited time to do the medicals or is it up to you? We were just thinking that it might be worth doing it before so we can spend time making sure we find a sympathetic panel doctor. Thanks Julia

Hi all We have just had a good quote from *** to move our stuff from Essex to Brisbane and we are keen to go with them, but haven't read any reviews or anything on them - can anyone who has used them let me know what they were like? Thanks

Hi All, Has anyone had experience with these two companies? *** is a smaller firm, very competitive(low price) however, trying to see if they are an accredited international removals company. Anglo Pacific, out right said they are unlikely to be as cheap as the smaller firms, (that makes sense due to overhead costs being higher for a larger firm) However, as I am going groupage this makes me feel a bit more secure with regards to waiting times. Any views?

And the best is that .....The project received funds from sources that back organisations lobbying against action on climate change. The Earth's surface really is getting warmer, a new analysis by a US scientific group set up in the wake of the "Climategate" affair has concluded. The Berkeley Earth Project has used new methods and some new data, but finds the same warming trend seen by groups such as the UK Met Office and Nasa. The project received funds from sources that back organisations lobbying against action on climate change. "Climategate", in 2009, involved claims global warming had been exaggerated. Emails of University of East Anglia (UEA) climate scientists were hacked, posted online and used by critics to allege manipulation of climate change data. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-15373071

UK is having a heatwave in the UK in the next week or so and predication of possible 30c + temps by the end of the week, after a Spring that broke temperature records since records began they are saying records could be broken in the next couple of weeks. So many strange weather patterns appearing around the world that I really am starting to believe we have something to do with it, doesn’t mean we’ll all have warmer weather in future. As the planet heats, climate patterns change, with more extreme and unpredicted weather across the world – some places will be hotter, some colder. Some wetter, others drier. Do you believe we are contributing to climate change?

70 degrees in London last week and today it was so warm and sunny that the birds think it is spring again, I watched nature watch the other day and they were saying it is worrying that the birds are getting out of sink with this weather, the weather has been so mild for the last few months that there must be something going on:dull: is this the norm for the future? and do you think it has anything to do with global warming, they say the North Pole is melting and could be gone in a decade.:err:

Guest posted a topic in Aussie Chat
Some good fares to be had at the moment for 2010 Earlybird UK and Europe flights. There are some restrictions on some of these fares, and earlybirds require some land content but there are still some bargains. My friends at Best Flights are handling these bookings so if anybody is interested give them a call. New Singapore Airlines UK & Europe Earlybirds & Qantas Global Sale- 3 replies

It was announced last night that Germany and France are already emerging from the recession. We ,here in Britain are lagging behind as usual ,with unemployment to rise to 3 million, before a recovery in 2010 . Signs of recovery in the uk are there though, housing sales up 23% in June. As an aside , i feel Europe through Germany and France will be the global mover in the 21st Century, and will knock the US off top spot. We have some bright minds on this form,in relation to economics ,so i would be interested to hear their opinions

Hi All Not sure where I should post this, so thought that I would start here. My Hubby and I have been thinking about migrating to Oz for sometime now, but both wonder if Australia has also been hit badly by the global recession. Your probably wondering why I am asking this, but you never hear much about Australia or New Zealand in the News. In the UK, my hubby is a Policeman and I have a Hair and Beauty Salon, and I am also an Assessor. Work for both of us is good and the salon at the moment is quite busy. We would also be moving to give our 2 young boys a better life, as feel that they will never be able to afford a house in the U.K, there are also many other reasons to why we wont to move. Friends and family say that it’s a gamble going to the other side of the world, but everything that you do in life is a gamble. Obviously, we would be giving up a lot to move over seas, but the biggest worry is the financial climate. Any views would be greatly welcomed. Thanks Sedgecl
