  1. Depends on what you are after really, do you want the beach, city or country side? i would choose a suburb that you easily walk to the tram or train. I live by the beach on the Frankston line which takes around 45 mins to an hour to get to finders street and is right on the beach, cafes, supermarkets, massive safe park ect you should easily afford a decent rental home in your budget. Example of what you can get in my suburb for you budget, you could probably afford to move a little closer to the city. https://www.domain.com.au/2-46-argyle-avenue-chelsea-vic-3196-12692410

  6. i think it depends on what your after i love melbourne because of the culture and food but im not after sitting on a beach or surfing so thats why.But i can understand people liking sydney as its more of the typical ozzie city you think of comming from the UK, beaches surfing ect.
  7. you will be fine as the visa says (on my 857 anyway) PR permitied to stay indefonatly no restrictions. and you not completing the 2 years is not your fault
  8. what i dont understand is that queensland grown fruit and veg is cheaper to buy in melbourne!? even when its grown down the road.
  9. justlook at the size of them the litres confuse me as well. if your going away for a while get one as big as you think you can carry (you dont have to fill it to the top!) also get one that unzips all the way. the ones you can only get to from the top are anoying you always want that thing at the bottom and have to unpack the whole thing to get it!. ones with daybacks attched are cool and you want a rain cover (i use this on flights as well and its trashed - which means my rucksack isnt!) the straps can get caught in the converwbelts at the airports and this stops this.
  10. 49 whats a geocache? thats the only one i think (as i dont know what that is) i havent done

  12. hi ive gone through a similar thing i had a HND and came out on a WHV and im now a PR. i was 25 when i arrived and had no trouble. the only thing is that to get PR the only sure way i could get my PR was to live in a regional area what has worked out to be 3 years. and im desperate to get back to the city, im even in a very different state to where i want to live.
  13. i landed in oz with aprox $800 and 3 years later have a huge chunk towards a deposit for a house! all on my own!

  15. the school year is jan till dec so it looks like in september he will be in year 11 and then has an extra year when the new school year starts as in oz kids go to school till year 12. on the up side he will have 2 lots of qualifications. i think it would be best for him to start as soon as possible, this way it makes it easier for him to meet people his own age and make year 12 easier, other than that i cant help you.
  16. RRV visa or if you were there long enough Citizenship http://www.immi.gov.au/e_visa/rrv.htm but if your going back this year and your PR lasts till 2015 then you have no issues and can stay as long as you want, but after 2015 if you leave the country before your citizenship apply for a RRV before you go. But No you wont need to apply again

Im really struggling at the moment and feel really isolated. and im looking at my options in to leaving early and if anyone else has had experience with this. i really dont want to leave Australia but i need to be somewhere where there's a bit of life. 21. it will be fine i just had a copy of my visa and said that i was waiting on visa approval to ship just incase. I was advised by the shipping company to give them a letter addressed to customs that they added with the paperwork they gave to customs. i only think its a real issue if your shipping often or new stuff if its a year old or more it will be fine
