  1. Hi, Did you have more or less than 5 years experience when you got sponsorship? Where abouts are you living and what do you do for work? Your work situation may make your scenario a little different from mine?
  2. This sounds interesting. How about the degree requirement? How about if I'm getting my 457 from my current company because they want to transfer me from their London, England office to their Sydney, Australia office?
  3. You think this is true DESPITE what the skills occupations list says?
  4. Could this be because your husband had enough years of experience (more than 5) which negates the need for a degree?
  5. This isn't about the individual employers, I am sure that I can get a good job without a degree (I've been a developer for 3 years now). This is about the immigration services and whether they will allow the sponsorship or not given that I don't have a degree which seems to be a requirement on the skills list for my profession.
  6. My specialist skill is ATG and Adobe CQ5 which are two platforms that suffer from a lack of developers everywhere (I get calls from all over europe all the time from recruiters). Ignoring PR and the difficulty of actually finding work in the first place, I'm just looking to find out if the degree issue will be a problem for me or not? I'm fairly sure I can get employment. My main (and only concern) is the lack of degree stopping me from getting sponsorship. Will my lack of of Degree rule me out? Is a Diploma from University not enough? Andrew
  7. I forgot to mention. I am from England, London. (sorry for the response, I couldn't find where to edit the original post).
  8. Hi Guys, I really want to move to Sydney to enjoy the weather and the surf but I don't have a degree! I only have a diploma which is one level lower than a degree. This rules me out from the independent visa so I was thinking about another way although I'm not sure if it will work? I plan on going to Sydney on a working holiday visa and interviewing with companies until I find one that will sponsor me. I am a Software Developer / engineer (on the skills shortage list) with 3 years experience. I am 26 years old and a male in good health. My question is, can an employer sponsor me for something like a 457 visa (I want to be in Sydney for at least 2 years) even though I don't have a degree. The skills shortage list says that my occupation requires a degree but I'm not sure if this matters if I can get sponsorship from within Australia? Thanks for reading :-) Andrew.
