Dear Mr

I refer to your application for a Skilled - Independent (VB 885) visa lodged on 04 December 2008 with the department.

I am pleased to advise that on 08 September 2011 a decision was taken to grant this visa.

This letter contains important information about this visa.

EVIDENCE OF YOUR VISA

It is recommended that the visa holder obtain evidence of this visa in their current passport. This can be done at any local DIAC office. DIAC office addresses can be found at http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts'>http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts

PASSPORT DETAILS

The granted visas are linked to the passport numbers that were provided as part of the application. If any person obtains a new passport after receiving this letter and before the visa is evidenced, they will need to contact the nearest Immigration office in Australia or overseas to advise the department of their new passport details.

When travelling into or out of Australia visa holders should ensure that they carry their current passport and the passport containing their valid visa. Visa holders unable to present evidence of their current visa when travelling may experience significant delays at the airport and may be denied permission to travel back to Australia.

For further information about the required documentary evidence for travel to Australia please refer to

http://www.immi.gov.au/media/fact-sheets/95documents.htm'>http://www.immi.gov.au/media/fact-sheets/95documents.htm

VISA VALIDITY

This visa allows you to enter and leave Australia as many times as you like until the visa expiry date.

LEAVING AND RETURNING TO AUSTRALIA

If you want to travel overseas and return to Australia after the visa expiry date, and you are not an Australian citizen, you will need to have a current Resident Return Visa (RRV). It is your responsibility to obtain a RRV. You must meet specific criteria for grant of a RRV. The criteria are designed to ensure that only permanent residents who have shown a genuine commitment to Australia by either residing in Australia or otherwise making a sound contribution to Australia may be eligible for a RRV. More information on RRVs can be found at http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants'>http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants > Returning Residents

WORKING IN AUSTRALIA

This visa entitles you to work in Australia. However, you are reminded that the grant of this visa provides no guarantee of employment in Australia, nor does acceptance of qualifications for migration purposes. Employment opportunities in some occupations are limited. Registration and licensing requirements for particular occupations vary between states and territories and may be amended from time to time.

CENTRELINK PAYMENTS

I would like to remind you of the importance of making adequate financial arrangements as support while looking for work.

You must wait two (2) years before you can receive most Centrelink income support payments. Centrelink is the government organisation that makes social security payments. "Income support" is government welfare assistance that is enough to live on. The payments with a waiting period include unemployment and sickness benefits, income support payments for students and a number of other payments.

Special Benefit is the only form of government welfare assistance which might be payable during the two (2) year waiting period. However, Special Benefit is only available on a very restricted basis - that is, if there has been a substantial change in circumstances beyond the person's control. Inability to find employment or running out of money are not sufficient reasons to qualify for Special Benefit.

Information on the waiting period is included in Form 994i - Settlement information for migrants to Australia can be downloaded from http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/994i.pdf.'>http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/994i.pdf. you said in a previous post that you and your mate both applied in 2010, but in the grant letter your mate applied Dec 2008, plus how come DIAC didnt ask him to do the Meds again as it should expired after 1 year. I wish that they start processing Cat 5 as I m one one of them....thank you for the effort any way.

by the way this is not the right thread to post please post in the cat 5 thread next time.

I actually thought he applied 2 months after me but it wasnt the case. I only found that out after seeing it in the grant email. They didnt ask him for anything. It was out of nowhere he got his PR. He told me that start of this year he was going to prepare new application under the new point system but he found out the acs reassessment so he put that on hold. He then uploaded the new police check that he got and that was all he did. Maybe we should call up dimia to question this...

If you go to Manchester and are using the EH forms then they take your photo and upload it so no need to take any pics. Manchester was fab we all went in together I had everything done first then once I was done I went for my xray while hubby had his med By the time I got back my kids were having their meds Martin went for xrays. by the time Mart's xray was done we were paying the bill and out the door. Just under 1 hour. Lovely people calm and relaxed no need to stress about anything. If anyone os worried about weight a BMI of 40 is the major trigger if you are under that with no jiont complaints you will be fine. Guess what I,m gonna have a look at my visa app now.

Dear

does that mean fat people cant get visa???

NO This post is not saying that and sorry if it comes across that way. what it is saying is up to a bmi of 40 so long as you are otherwise fit their is no problem at all. over a bmi of 40 meds might be refured if their are any health issues associated with being overweight. I only posted what I was told as I asked the Doc as both me and hubby are a bit overweight. Don't worry about it if yoa are above a bmi of 40 as long as you are fit and healthy their shouldn't be a problem. I'm not an expert though just trying to help by saying what I was told.:wubclub:

Hi All,

I think we should expect a major slow down this week in the speed at which they are processing. Also in future i think it shld get slower as there are many cat 4 who applied in the last few months before July 2011 changes.

I am sorry but this does not prove any thing, the bit I highlighted in purple we have that type of visa in cat 4 also it doesn't say what his occupation is so I am afraid that others will still question this, we appreciate that you are providing us with information, this could be one of 2 things it was in the wrong pile and he slipped through the net as we know that they are not looking at cat 5 yet, his occupation is not in cat 5 in the first place.

What a shame! But I truely believe that movement in Cat 5 is imminent. Just look at the latest Immi.gov.au progress chart. They seem to be pretty much up to date with all other priorities. So only Cat 4 left now. I have heard that they are up to Jan/Feb 2011 'unofficially' of course on Poms In Oz. Surely it can not be long now. Unless of course DIAC prefer twiddling their thumbs rather than commence Cat 5 ;o)

NO This post is not saying that and sorry if it comes across that way. what it is saying is up to a bmi of 40 so long as you are otherwise fit their is no problem at all. :wubclub:

I'm happy to hear this! My BMI was 30 about 6 months ago, and I was under the impression that above 30 could mean that the medicals could be referred.

(Which means the diet wasn't necessary! reached BMI 27 last week. More or less. :arghh:)

Could this be the reason why

2231-79 Computing Professional (ICT Recent Graduate) and the new priority

According to the new priority, IT graduates who have already applied under the occupation 2231-79 Computing Professional (ICT Recent Graduate) will fall into category 4?

This is very illogical because for new applicants, they can now apply as one of the ICT occupations on the new SOL (eg. Developer Programmer or Software Engineer) instead of being grouped together as Computing Professional (ICT Recent Graduate), which is no longer on the SOL.

Would this mean that new ICT Graduates who apply under the new rule will fall into category 3 but ICT Graduates that already applied under the old rule will fall into category 4?

So, given two people with the same qualification from the same university who finished at different time, the one who finished later and applied using the new rule will get the application processed before the one who finished earlier and applied using old rule?

Does anyone know if there is a work around to this problem or if they are attempting to fix this problem? This is because there seems to be no way out. You can't change the occupation and get new assessment. Also, for graduates who have been graduated for over 6 months can't even make a new application even though you can be assessed as one of the ICT occupations in the new SOL.

What happens if your medicals get referred?

Agree, but its still a small price to pay in the bigger scheme of things......a new life downunder. Defo worth £600.

Just on this whole subject of new skills coming onto the State Migration lists. I just wanta point out that this additions are still within the total amount stated by DIAC. They are not extra to the original 24k visa allocation set out for state migration 2011/12.

You can visit here for more info.

So with this in mind, I again do not think it will slow things down too much as this is probably old news to DIAC and they've already baked this into their plans and timelines.
