  1. This is what i see regarding bridging visa. It looks like you can get bridging visa if you are here when you apply for 143. In Australia: You will be granted a Bridging visa if you are the holder of a Contributory Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 173), the holder of a Tourist visa (subclass 676) or Visitor visa (subclass 600) granted through ministerial intervention, or a member of the family unit of a Contributory Parent (Subclass 173) visa holder. In all other cases, you will not be granted a Bridging visa to stay in Australia.
  2. Thank you for your reply. This is for my brother in law who is turning 22. I was thinking he could come over on a tourist visa. If there is no 8503 on the visa then we will apply for 143 and he can stay here and maybe try to study whilst waiting for the application to be processed. Parents will be overseas waiting for the visa as they are still working and happy to wait. Is this possible? Thanks
  3. Hi Everyone, Has anyone applied for a 143 when the applicants are in Australia on a visitor visa? If so do they get interim medicare like people on bridging visa of a partner visa ? Thank you very much for all responses.
  4. Hi all, I am going to apply contributory parents migration visa (143) for my parents and my brother (under 18). I have been here since 2000 as a high school student and i have been working fullltime for 2 years and got my PR 6 months ago. We have got everything ready for the application except the evidence of settlement from me. So far i have a letter from my company, my group certificates for the last 5 years i have been working, my car ownership, mobile contract but i havent got a house to show. Is that gonna be problem? Can someone please show me what i can do in this case? Thank you
  5. I actually thought he applied 2 months after me but it wasnt the case. I only found that out after seeing it in the grant email. They didnt ask him for anything. It was out of nowhere he got his PR. He told me that start of this year he was going to prepare new application under the new point system but he found out the acs reassessment so he put that on hold. He then uploaded the new police check that he got and that was all he did. Maybe we should call up dimia to question this...
  6. Below is my workmate's grant letter for his 885. He was in Cat 5. Although the email didnt say it but he applied as an ICT recent graduate so if that doesnt put you in cat 5 then we all should not be. He is applying for ACS reassessment and still have not got the result letter. In fact he is trying to cancel the reassessment to get the money back right now. Im posting it up to prove to you guys that im not making up as people saying. Im in cat 5 as well and i am waiting for my acs reassessment. Hope we all get our PR soon ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Mr I refer to your application for a Skilled - Independent (VB 885) visa lodged on 04 December 2008 with the department. I am pleased to advise that on 08 September 2011 a decision was taken to grant this visa. This letter contains important information about this visa. EVIDENCE OF YOUR VISA It is recommended that the visa holder obtain evidence of this visa in their current passport. This can be done at any local DIAC office. DIAC office addresses can be found at http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts'>http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts PASSPORT DETAILS The granted visas are linked to the passport numbers that were provided as part of the application. If any person obtains a new passport after receiving this letter and before the visa is evidenced, they will need to contact the nearest Immigration office in Australia or overseas to advise the department of their new passport details. When travelling into or out of Australia visa holders should ensure that they carry their current passport and the passport containing their valid visa. Visa holders unable to present evidence of their current visa when travelling may experience significant delays at the airport and may be denied permission to travel back to Australia. For further information about the required documentary evidence for travel to Australia please refer to http://www.immi.gov.au/media/fact-sheets/95documents.htm'>http://www.immi.gov.au/media/fact-sheets/95documents.htm VISA VALIDITY This visa allows you to enter and leave Australia as many times as you like until the visa expiry date. LEAVING AND RETURNING TO AUSTRALIA If you want to travel overseas and return to Australia after the visa expiry date, and you are not an Australian citizen, you will need to have a current Resident Return Visa (RRV). It is your responsibility to obtain a RRV. You must meet specific criteria for grant of a RRV. The criteria are designed to ensure that only permanent residents who have shown a genuine commitment to Australia by either residing in Australia or otherwise making a sound contribution to Australia may be eligible for a RRV. More information on RRVs can be found at http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants'>http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants > Returning Residents WORKING IN AUSTRALIA This visa entitles you to work in Australia. However, you are reminded that the grant of this visa provides no guarantee of employment in Australia, nor does acceptance of qualifications for migration purposes. Employment opportunities in some occupations are limited. Registration and licensing requirements for particular occupations vary between states and territories and may be amended from time to time. CENTRELINK PAYMENTS I would like to remind you of the importance of making adequate financial arrangements as support while looking for work. You must wait two (2) years before you can receive most Centrelink income support payments. Centrelink is the government organisation that makes social security payments. "Income support" is government welfare assistance that is enough to live on. The payments with a waiting period include unemployment and sickness benefits, income support payments for students and a number of other payments. Special Benefit is the only form of government welfare assistance which might be payable during the two (2) year waiting period. However, Special Benefit is only available on a very restricted basis - that is, if there has been a substantial change in circumstances beyond the person's control. Inability to find employment or running out of money are not sufficient reasons to qualify for Special Benefit. Information on the waiting period is included in Form 994i - Settlement information for migrants to Australia can be downloaded from http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/994i.pdf.'>http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/994i.pdf. 7. Well I am just as frustrated as you are mate. I am pushing the guy to forward me his grant email. He is busy at the moment. Ill will post up the email as soon as I got it. Btw its not my friend’s friend. It’s my workmate. This is a sensitive topic. I would not go through all the trouble to lie about these things….
  8. Mate I dont wanna show my jealously but I am jealous. ICT Recent Graduate is cat 5. He applied for acs reassessment 2 days after me and he sent through normal postage. His skill reassessment is still in stage 4 with ACS. I will try to ask him for the grant letter I have known this guy for over a year he is a nice guy and there is no reason for him to lie about this.
  9. Well I can guarantee with you he is in Cat 5. Both he and I applied for acs reassessment 6 weeks ago. He hasn’t got his result back. It is still in stage 4 with ACS. What I can I say. I applied 2 months before him and he got his PR before me….as for work…we work in the same company and there is no way our work has done something for him and not for me. What can I say? He just went to get the passport stamped in the morning…I guess all we can say is we are moving up 1 spot
  10. A workmate of mine in Cat 5 just got his PR. His acs assessment was IT graduate. Looks like they are processing Cat 5. Hopefully I and other Cat 5 will get our PR soon. He applied at the start of 2010.
