1. Hi Without_Logic (like your username ;o) I too have filed for a 'Refund', not that we will receive all our money back. Nothing up to now. My agent says it will take a while (why am I not surprised?!) I'll let everyone know when I have more news. A very disappointed ex Cat 5'er who had been waiting since December 2008 (Marketing Executive, Fluent in both German and English, sponsored by my sister in Oz, IELTS pass rate = 8 in academic English, BA (Hons) Degree and Btec Diploma qualified- but apparently not good enough for Australia ....) Sigh!
2.

Not yet honey. Still waiting.. I'll keep everyone posted. Thank you for asking though. Now VB has his visa I feel like the oldest member on this forum - I'm beginning to creek :grumpy1

3. Thank you very much for this valuable information George. I personally feel that after a year or so DIAC might even start relaxing their tight immigration laws, because they will find the number of migrants declining. This is due to a) their strict requirements b) their extraordinary high house prices and c) the high Australian Dollar Exchange rate. It is all a great disadvantage to any prospective migrant. Anyway, we will see. Let us hope all Cat 5's will get allocation and visas in the end.
4. Hi, I've been in the visa queue for 3.5 years plus, due to the constant changes DIAC imposed. I believe this was mainly due to political input etc. Anyway, during all this time I've had fantastic support from my Migration Agent - MIGRATION EXPERT. You have one initial consultation telephone call in which they recommend the best visa for you etc. If I remember rightly our initial call lasted over 1 hour. After that they have a website and you log in to ask questions. You normally get answers within 1 day. So definitely worth choosing them. The cost they charge is comparative to others. Their website is: http://www.migrationexpert.com. Good Luck with your application (no doubt you will not have the wait I had :cute:
5. Always the eternal optimist - (remember me VB all the way back, when I predicted that we will get our day :cute:) I recon the next update will be 20 November ! Good Luck to All!
6. my guess, if I may, is 14 July
7. Totally agree with you. Keep the STATUS QUO! Please, please, please NO MORE CHANGES!!!!!!!! - after 3 1/2 years of waiting and all the ups and downs, I, quite frankly, am sick to the back teeth of them! As everybody on here, I am a quite legit applicant and all I've ever asked for is a FAIR DEAL! Come on DIAC, keep up the good work and to all you politicians reading this forum, please, please, please let them carry on with their jobs and the good progress they are making.:realmad:
8. Not that OLD HAT again.... plllleeeeaaaaaseee!!!! Cat 5 off-shores will be processed, and not too far off either I recon! They are currently processing Cat 5 onshore, and I've got to know on Cat 5 forum that one on-shore Cat 5 has got his CO and he is from Sept 08! DIAC are moving very fast indeed. Anyway the queue keeps getting smaller - just look at their allocation tables on their website!!! Come on All Cat 5's!!!!! Good Luck to us all
9. Totally agree with what you've said Sekena. Why would they give new cat 4 applicants an estimated time-slot of 18 months otherwise. It is in DIAC's interest to get rid of ALL the backlog, that includes Cat 5!! There was quite a big initiative by Cat 5 applicants to take DIAC to court and they had already engaged lawyers. So I really think that DIAC believe it is actually easier to deal with the back log than to face court action and bad publicity, which would be portrayed politically by some newspapers. But in any event, I think DIAC have done wonders in dealing with the backlog. Keep up the good work DIAC and let's hope all us Cat 5 will eventually be processed.
10. Thank you Tania for your good work on updating us! .... Sorry I looked for the Thanks button, but that also seems to have disappeared. Do we really have to be like Facebook? (new site look) I really thought we were made of better stuff!
11. Always the case Tania. As soon as something works perfectly, the powers that be tend to throw a spanner into the works... Sound familiar?.... I don't like it either! The look and feel of the site has just gotten a lot gloomier. I much preferred the light and bright orange. Oh well,...
12. Thank you for this Tania. That is indeed good news. Nice to be acknowledged again too
13. Finally I have got some time to join you guys. First of all.... HUUUGGGGEEEE CONGRATULATIONS TANIA ON GETTING YOUR WELL-DESERVED VISA!!!!!!!!! What fantastic News, you must be over the moon :jiggy::notworthy::hug::hug::hug::hug:
14. Fingers, Toes and Everything crossed. I am glad things are moving in the right direction and well-done to all those who have got their visas. From my personal point of view it is actually quite heart-wrenching when you see people being allocated with a case officer only a couple of months after they applied, especially if they have applied nearly 3 YEARS after me. I now really know what is meant by the word UNFAIR. Still, nothing personal. Just quite at a loss as to why I have been so terribly discriminated against! My sister, who is sponsering me for a 475, PROVISIONAL I might add, is equally frustrated with the whole thing. Although I am of course still very much looking forward to eventually living in Oz, it has made me think about the Australian Government's attitude and whether they do these sort of stunts in other areas?? I totally understand why they made all these changes, but NEVER will I understand why these were applied RETROSPECTIVELY! How unfair and unjust can you get??? Anyway, enough of my rant.... I know I am not the only one here. Thank you Tania for your good work. Information is always valuable in these situations. Good Luck to us all :angel_happy_face_ha
15. Hi Mandy, Sorry to sound ignorant, but does 'initial entry by 4 Oct 2012' mean you have nearly 1 year to actually VALIDATE your visa? And then subsequently another 5 years to make up your mind? I thought DIAC only give you at most 6 months to do the initial visit of Oz and thereby validating your visa?
16. What a shame! But I truely believe that movement in Cat 5 is imminent. Just look at the latest Immi.gov.au progress chart. They seem to be pretty much up to date with all other priorities. So only Cat 4 left now. I have heard that they are up to Jan/Feb 2011 'unofficially' of course on Poms In Oz. Surely it can not be long now. Unless of course DIAC prefer twiddling their thumbs rather than commence Cat 5 ;o)
17. CONGRATULATIONS TANIA!!!! WHAT FABULOUS NEWS!! I definitely feel all our times are coming! Even VB is getting positive ;o):laugh::cool::biglaugh::jiggy:
18.
Yes, I agree and believe that the way DIAC are clearing the backlog of Cat 3 they will commence processing of Cat 4s August/September. I may be wrong, but why not??
