Ooh Phoebe, you sound so patient (which is what you have been for a while) haha. :wink:Hope you are now out of pain. Bet you are excited about next year, after all this time. Don't know about gaining weight though, but perhaps you lost too much. Enjoy your ham sandwiches!

Hi Genie1 we were advised by our agent to complete form 80 in case it is asked for by the CO. It was a pain but looks like even on 173 visa it is needed. I hope so after all the hassle of completing it but assume our agent knows best. They said that form 80 seems to be requested now which in the past wasn't always the case.

If I am not mistaken it is now taking 18 months from the date of acknowledgment for appointment of CO? That being the case I think character verification and medicals can be got done in 14th month from the date of application. Will that be a sensible course of action instead of getting character verification done on completion of 10 months from date of application and medicals to be got done on expiry of 12 months from the date of application as directed in the acknowledgment letter. All answers are welcome.

With regards and warm wishes to all forum members.

N.B. Godspeed to Phoebe for quick recovery.

I have been reading the treat for the past 6 months and thought I would share our journey, be it incomplete with the forum:

I have been the eternal optimist for the past 12 months. Everyday hoping that the Parent Visa Centre has a change of direction (for the better) and process application in a record time! Well, I can say that the optimism has deteriorated on a daily basis, and over the past 2 months optimism has changed over to pure frustration.

We lodged my in-laws 143 application and the PVC confirmed acceptance on 23 July 2012. To date we have received not a single word. Tomorrow it will be 500 days and as per the visa tracker, a new record.!! Well done processing centre.

As I am the authorised representative for my in-laws, I have contacted the department on numerous times by phone and email. By phone they advise that they cannot give dates and expected durations until a case officer is assigned, but for the past 2 months have every time mentioned that they are working thru a back log and our application should not be too far away.

The email returns I have received from the PVC is a bit more concerning, 3 emails over the past 2 months have all come back with the same date the department is currently processing applications as 11 June 2012… I don’t believe this as the tracker shows case officers were assigned to application up to 7 July 2012.

We do remain hopeful of getting a case officer before Christmas, fingers cross.

I will update the forum on any progress going forward, be it good or bad.

I am reproducing my earlier post below:-\

###Dear Alan

I am posing the following query which i think that you can answer best in view of your knowledge and expertise as MARA agent.

The following is the extract from the Migration Report 2012-13:-

" The contributory parent category outcome also met its 2012-13 planning level of 6575 places. Demand in the contributory parent category decreased by approximately 1524

applications between 2011-12 and 2012-13. Demand in 2011-12 was driven by high

numbers of applications in May and June 2012. The number of applications in 2012-13

generally increased throughout the year reaching a high of 927 in April 2013, before falling

substantially in May and June 2013. Over 12 500 clients remain in the pipeline at

30 June 2013, an increase of 4.8 per cent over the program year. This category was capped

in 2012-13."

As lay person I have done simple maths. There are 12500 applicants in pipeline as on 30 June 2013. There are 6675 positions for CPV visa for the year commencing from 1 July 2013. This means 556 visa every month if DIAC works with a clock work precision. For sake of grasping the situation let us take the month of January 2013 which is the middle of the year for calculation purposes. At roughly the rate of 1000 applications per month, by the middle of the January there will be receipt of 6500 applications. If we divide this by 556 then we get answer as 12 approximately. Therefore those who received their acknowledgement in middle of January 2013 it would mean a wait of 12 months counting from 1 july 2013. This means that such applicant who received their acknowledgement in mid January 2013 can hope for visa grant by end of June 2014.Thus the total waiting period comes to 17 months approximately.

Kindly let us know if I am correct. I am sure that there are others also waiting anxiously for the visa like me.Your expert answer will be welcomed by all.

Thanks in advance.

with warm regards.###

From above it is clear that as per published figure of applicants in normal course the average time for appointment of CO and grant should be 17 months. CO also takes two three months to finalize. I think one can just wait and watch.

:cool::cool:Hi meant,

Your calculations are wrong because our lodgment date is June 29th 2012 and we have not heard anything from immigration department yet. We are worried and frustrated. We are in dark now have no idea when our process will be finalize. It has been 17 months and 5 days since our lodgment. They have not assigned a case officer for us. As you said it take 2-3 months once we got case officer. Assume as if we got our case officer today still it would be 20 month from the date of lodgment. So you have to redo your calculations. Thanks.

Suggest you might write to the Assistant Immigration Minister, asking her to please make enquiry of the Department as to resourcing at the Parents Visa Centre, as processing times are starting to increase: http://www.minister.immi.gov.au/michaeliacash/contact-details/

Best regards.

Received an update today after again enquiring about thru the immi website. The Parent Visa Centre are processing applications with acknowledgement date (not to be confused with lodgement date) of 28 June 2012. Apparently they received a great number of applications in June 2012 before the price increase.

Not sure how accurate this is but at least a response that shows some progress.

Well I have quoted from the published figures form Migration Report 2012-2013. It is clear that there was heavy receipt of applications in June 2012. Once this big lot is cleared then in next two three months time the processing time should come down to 17- 18 months. Date of acknowledgement means nothing I think. I don`t think that PVC keeps on accumulating the applications and opens them all on one bright day and issue acknowledgement for all the accumulation in one day. They must be processing them in the order in which they have been received date wise.Regarding Alan`s suggestion to request for deployment of extra staff I have my own doubts. They have to clear yearly quota which they do every year. I don`t think if any weekly/fortnightly/ monthly quota is there.

One more thing, not all applicants post their timelines on CPV tracker. During last year approx 6500 CPV were issued. While the number of posts in CPV issued for the last year is just 15 which is statistically insignificant. Therefore to go by timelines of CPV tracker is at the best misleading oneself. I find that the posts in this forum give the accurate picture. Some of us are desperate to move to Australia at the earliest because of our personal reasons, whereas many of us can bide our time of nearly two years before making the move. I know several cases where after validating the CPV the persons are spending five six months in UK every year. I hope that you get your visa soon.

Hello,

I'm looking into CPV Visa for my mom and dad (sub class 143), can you please clarify if my understand is correct about the fees:

- First instalment for main applicant (my mom) $2060; additional applicant $1030 - payable at the time of application is lodged.

- Second instalment $42,220 / person - payable when the visa is granted.

Is the second instalments refundable? There is also Assurance of Support for $14000 for 2 applicants - which is refundable after 10 years.

Thanks

Not quite accurate - from September 2013 charges as follows:

First VAC $2370 , additional applicant $1185 payable at time application is lodged

Second VAC $48550 per person. payable just before visa is granted

Charge were increased July and Sept 2013

AOS $14000 refunded after 10 years. We believe in full - unless you access benefits from Centre Link (benefits, housing allowance etc )

At the moment waiting time for grant of visa 143 is around 18 months.

Hope this helps and good luck with your application.

Hello Mmant, very interesting post, you certainly do a lot of 'homework'. I think I am going to take the view, that everything will sort itself out eventually. As long as we get all the ducks in line, we should be fine. Having said that, we certainly hope not to spend another winter here. My daughter (the eternal optimist) seems to think we should be in Perth by September 2014 for my birthday, but somehow I doubt this, probably nearer November/December. We sent our application in June this year. So keep the Info coming Mmant, always good to hear from you.

Dear Carob

Thanks for your kind words. In your case I think that the clear picture will emerge in end July 2014 when Migration Report 2013 -2014 is published. It will tell us the backlog of pending applications as on 1 July 2014 and quota for the CPV for 2014- 2015. If the number of applications rises for 2013-14 then, assuming the quota remains same or with marginal change, the waiting period would lengthen. If the number of applications in 2013-14 is considerably less than that of year 2012-13 then, as your eternal optimist daughter hopes, you will celebrate your birthday with your daughter in Perth in Sept 2014. I also want to move over at the earliest but then I will have to make one to two trips back to London every year to wrap up my financial interests here. Waiting for upswing in Canary Wharf and Liverpool Street.

My best wishes are with you.

Dear all,

I am currently applying the Contributory Parents Visa for my mother. I am an Australian citizen but living and working overseas with my husband. We own a house in Australia and pay income tax here as well. We have the intention of returning to Australia for good by end of next year ( about the time a CO will be allocated to the case). So I am wondering since I have been living overseas for more than 3 years, do I or do I not meet the settled or usually resident requirement? Or since I am a citizen these requirements do not apply to my case?

About the Assurance of Support, the Immigration mentioned in the acknowledgement letter that we need to start the process of Assurance of Support in April 2014. I called Centre Link twice and spoke to two different officers. The answers I received from them are not the same. One said the assurer need to make an appointment in advance with Centre Link for an interview and then sign the AOS form in front of a Centre Link officer. The other said there is no need to make an appointment, just drop by Centre Link and give them the documentations. They then will forward our docs to the responsible department and will contact us via telephone for interview. Anyone with recent experiences with Assurance of Support process please give me some insight
:)

Your help is very much appreciated. Thank you
