Really depends on the person though Shellybingobingo, I've been wearing full length jeans for over 2 weeks during the day here in Perth, and I don't have to peel them off me lol I hate being cold, and yes it does get damn cold here! 2 degrees this morning outside and according to the barometer in our living area, it was 9 degrees inside this morning! Wood burner is lit already :)

It is a bit chilly in Perth in the mornings at the moment. Definitely get away with wearing jeans but I'll carry on with shorts for work for a few weeks yet. About 22 degrees in the daytime.

If you are driving to work, it's a good idea to keep a pair of 'strides' and a warm coat in the car. I always have that stuff for when I go to the beach at this time of the year.

I find I get too hot in shorts out in the sun walking all day. Long ones on an evening and first thing in the morning though. My 13 year old son never ever wears long trousers other than at school when he has to. I bought him 3 pairs to go on his Canberra trip to the snow last year, he never put them on remained in shorts. I've now pinched them

I was back in the UK last November and the only thing I found noticeably cheaper was beer in pubs. Buy beer and wine here in the bottleshop and beers about the same price and wine is cheaper. Spirits might be more here but I don't drink them often enough to worry about it.

There are cheap clothes and everything else in places like Big W, K-mart, Target. Probably same cheap stuff that you can get in the UK that last a few washes and then you throw it away and get some more.

Nurofen?? Just get the aussie brand equivalent, it will do the same.

Living in the UK in 2010 certainly found clothes cheaper as well as shoes if looking beyond the cheapest. Breakfast was certainly far cheaper than Perth and if in the know some cheap eating places that do pretty good nosh.

I did find supermarkets at least in my part of London expensive and a lot aimed at people living busy lives with little time to cook.

Pubs cheaper as mentioned and pub dining similar perhaps a little cheaper depending.

In London last time I was there (2013) it was costing around 4-5 quid a pint so more expensive than my local in Brisbane.

Clothes cheaper though and more variety.

Going back in 3 weeks so will see what has changed.

Don't need much more than a pair of shorts, T-Shirt and a pair of things for most of the year though Paul. Who's bothered about style? If you want stylish and cheap have a browse round Salvo's. Bought my last pair of levi's there for $15.

What do you want? Giorgio Armani Hi viz?

This is UK seaside style, really cannot see much difference from today!

OK from the seventies, from the left we have 'fly catcher Uncle Cliff', 'Goody two shoes Uncle Dennis', and 'Budding Porn Star father'

Your Dad never got that tan in the UK did he K&L?

There is a good chance he did, he is a real sun worshiper, out in the back yard whilst he picks his horses and any other chance he gets, but his back will be white as! as he only does the bits he can see in the mirror, he gets some stick about it, but he don't care:laugh:. He loves it when he comes out here, once came out for 5 months only three days when he saw no sunshine if he had come out of the club on one of those days he would have at least seen the sun set.

That's Morecombe and Wise from the "nice out" sketch. Way ahead of their time with the slip slop slap cover-up though

This is genuine. A shot I took during my visit to Christchurch to visit some old RM buddies early last year. No Hankie but there's a flat cap under that brolly :-)

Ahh, the old memory cogs started crunching away...From 'Reminiscing'

45 years ago, working in the Kimberlies, December and about 110 F in the waterbag. Bloke broken down at the side of the road, I pulled up to help him; his car had a boiling radiator. Was chatting to him about taking ample water in the outback because, in those days, tourism was not really done and cars were few and far between. (actually camped 24 hours on the road a couple of years earlier without seeing another vehicle).

Anyhow, this bloke was a rather overweight pom with a very red face and a knotted hankie on his head. I noticed a wide brimmed hat in the back seat and suggested that would be better...His reply," nay lad it meks me look daft." BTW he was from Manchester...

Cheers, Bobj.

You'd expect to pay £4-£5 for a pint in London, although last time I went to the west end,I stayed in The Strand Hotel,(very expensive in there for drinks,I nearly asked if I got to keep the glass! ;))but opposite that hotel is a pub which had pints for £3.

We are finding most food and better quality clothes cheaper here, pubs are certainly cheaper. Eating out also cheaper and better.
