  1. I think you are probably right to think you will feel more of a pull once you have children. I think you need to be honest with your partner and tell him these are the facts, and while he might feel the same in Ireland that you do in Australia, you DO feel this way, and the crap about changing goalposts is not a fair response, it is in my view a little gaslighting. I don't think he should expect you to live where you are unhappy. This is not about facts, it is about feelings.
  2. My old employer was on level 41 of the Gateway building so I am familiar with the amazing views from up there. Lovely area to potter about as well when on a business trip; Opera bar; wander round the botanic gardens; grab a beer or three around the Rocks (The Glenmore ; Fortune of War, The Orient); Market on the weekend. Hyde Park for the Anzac memorial; QVB; Darling Harbour; Barangaroo; Hop on the Ferry to anywhere! I love Manly (where I stay now visiting our office in French's Forest) for the morning walk to Shelly Beach for a coffee; Also Watson's Bay for a beer at the hotel and walk up to South Head. Ah Sydney. Not been for a few months now! Always glad to come home to Perth though! If I could afford to live anywhere around these places I would like a shot. I never will unless I win the Lotto.
  3. Assuming you have been in detail through the Vetassess criteria, 202111 Information Sheet - Management Consultant.pdf (vetassess.com.au) and your role aligns, you need to be sure that your degrees meet the criteria of Highly relevant field of study, and that you have the required experience. I would be ringing a few more agents tbh, or perhaps taking advantage of the VetAssess Skills Assessment Support Consultation Service for Applicants | VETASSESS

    Regret

You will stay up I think, bottom 3 are certainly worse than you!

    Regret

Aren't Ipswich having an amazing season? I'm a Leicester fan so quite relieved you have dropped off a bit but hope you make it back to the Prem with us!
  6. I wonder then whether he can apply a different route on the basis he only took his possessions out of the country temporarily? Pay less import duty and VAT when re-importing goods to the UK - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
  7. As we had to our 3rd Christmas since moving I am feeling it a bit too. Not feeling very Christmassy, not even got the decorations up yet! I few issues with elderly family recently bring it home a bit, and not sure if I will make it back to the UK next year with work either. Maybe I just need to go and jump in the sea or get the kayak on the river and I will feel better!
  8. I would have just sat down, what is he going to do?
  9. Hi all Looking ahead to when I can apply for citizenship, I had assumed I had to count 4 years from the day I arrived to live in Australia, however I have now read a few posts suggesting I can take my activation date Feb 2019, even though I then left AU for 2.5 years, moving permanently in September 2021. This would mean I can apply a year earlier than I thought (allowing for 12 months spent outside Australia at the start of my 4 years, give or take 6 weeks or so of other trips). Is this right or am I going mad?
  10. If you are not getting a better picture you are doing something wrong, or your eyes are going
  11. I think it depends on where you are salary wise. If you are well paid, I would consider it part of the job, if you are low paid hourly then they should be compensating. Personally I tend to tweak my travel a bit to have a day in the destination to get over jet lag / sightsee a little. Or I will stopover in the UK where it makes sense and visit family.
  12. Yes! Using a stockbroker, bank, building society or 'share shop'
  13. Unless the dog is very old I wouldn't worry about flight stress. I reckon they just go to sleep after the first half hour.
  14. PwC Australia probably only hired people with a 1st and look where that got them recently.
  15. You have a little over a year until your eldest would start school here most likely, so why not apply now? Not much to lose honestly - as your kids will have citizenship by descent you can enter with your husband on a visitor visa later if you need to and your kids can still start school. Chances are it will be all done and dusted by the middle of next year anyway
  16. You fail the character test for criminal activities essentially if you have been convicted and sentenced to 12 months or more in prison. They don't care about your tickets. If they wanted to cancel your PR, applying for a RRV makes sod all difference, they can do it anytime.
  17. Lots of big companies shifted away from Agencies in the past few years and using LinkedIn and Seek to advertise direct. Why pay 15-25% to an agent when candidates come straight to you? Your main challenge then I think is working out your value in the market, and that is where an agency might help you.
  18. Interesting point. I think members of the forum are very invested in the fairness of the system, and someone lying to get a visa could potentially be taking the place of someone else who desperately wants to move. We see similar responses to the "can I move less than two years after arriving having committed to staying in a state" or "can I ditch my employer who spent thousands of dollars on my visa."
  19. When the packer come they are like a whirlwind - so make sure anything you are not bringing is already gone or locked away somewhere else it ends up packed before you can say DONT PACK THAT! Or even after you have.
  20. The main thing to be aware of other than the cost if is that a lot of areas now you are required to keep your cat indoors. You will be fined if it is found off your property. If you have free roaming cats in the UK that can seem pretty cruel, but there are many albeit costly options to secure your garden or alfresco area.
  21. The insanity of charging for CBD parking when Westfields etc. are free and then wondering why city centre shopping is dying.
  22. No doubt the same people complain about how hard it is to find sponsorship, then go ahead and make that even harder for future migrants.
  23. Ruby has it right - you need to request your international movements record. They send it through in a week or so. It confirms every entry and exit, and that you can count the day you arrived or left as a day in Australia.
