  1. Hello! I am new to pomsinoz but I would really appreciate any help you can provide. I have been a kindergarten/preschool director for 5 and a half years and before that I have been an early childhood teacher for three years. I have a Bachelors Degree in Pedagogy of Primary and Preschool Education. I am planning to migrate to Oz as a Child Care Center Manager (ANZCO 134111) with the Direct Entry stream - 186 visa. The first step in this process would be to get a successful assessment from TRA. I think immi requires a BA for this position (because it's at skill level 1). As a kindergarten director I have done all the tasks (and more) listed on the immi website for this job and the kindergarten where I have worked resembles in a lot of ways a Childcare Center (after-school, offered lunch, nap time, etc.). I believe these should be enough but I am not sure what TRA is looking for... Do you think I am qualified enough and have enough work experience to get a successful assessment from TRA? Any advice you could give me would be great
  2. Hi, I have techincal interview with vetassess coming soon for Asian cookery. I have searched virtually everywhere on the internet and have not found anything relevant. Can someone please advice about the kind of questions they ask? Any help will be appreciated.
  3. Hello Everyone, I am about to apply for an ACS assessment and it would be appreciated if anybody can shed some light on the following scenario. I did diploma in Electronics and then i got admitted in second year/3rd sems of B.Tech in Computer Science. So should I include my Diploma certificates along with the Degree certificates? Or do they need any other letters from university which sets out why they allowed you to start in the second year of the degree course, because of your previous proven studies? If anybody did a similar assessment could you please help me here. Thanks, Noble

    VETASSESS

Hello, At present my application is being reviewed by VETASSESS, I applied for priority screening to speed up the process because if my age factor. Now my question is, the other day I received a call from VETASSESS and was told that it was an assessment call, all we managed to do was a formal introduction and before the assessment could begin the call dropped off and I did not receive a call again. Will this have an impact on my application or process time? Thank you.
  6. Hi all, looking for any advise / knowledge around this. Continuously paying different amounts of money to different people and hearing differing opinions, its all rather confusing. I have an honors degree (4 years) graduated 2013. Psychology. have worked in the field in my field 2.8 years. on a 457 visa, have a sponsor to do 186 but have not been with them 2 years. my degree is deemed not relevant to my occupation. Residential Care Officer. Positive skill assessment thus came out as 0.8 The assessment is used to help points based visa. Is 186 a points based visa? Does my degree need to be 'relevant' for my sponsored job?

    TRA Assessment Validity?

Hello to the beautiful people of pomsinoz. I have a question that has been confusing me. The Question is: Once you get a positive assessment by TRA. How much time do we have to apply for the EOI (Expression of Interest)? Since I need to do IELTS during this time too.

    ACS Assessment

I have completed my Bachelor (3 Years) degree in Arts (not related to ICT), but my MBA (2 Years Post Graduate degree) in Information Systems which has more than 50% subjects or units related to ICT. Therefore could you please confirm that in this scenario my MBA would be recognized by ACS?

    Sen teacher PGCE

Hi I am new to this so please forgive me if this is wrong! I am wanting to move to Australia asap. I have just finished my Business and maths degree and want to become a teacher. However after working part time in a school I really don't want to teach mainstream and want to teach sen .. I have found this relatively new pgce... https://www.shu.ac.uk/study-here/find-a-course/pgce-pgce-post16-and-further-education-special-educational-needs Sen Pgce for further education. Does anyone know if this alone would qualify me as a Sen teacher in Australia? I will meet the 45 days needed as per below but don't know if a pgce with a sen specialism is enough . Many thanks L
  11. Hi, I have been living and working in Australia since February 2015. I have, however, been with my current employer since October 2016. My employers would like to sponsor me for PR, but since I have not been with them for 2 years, I require a skills assessment with Vetassess. I have 12 years experience in my role, however I am not degree qualified. I have contacted a company called Get Qualified, and they said my experience can be transitioned/recognised as comparable to a Graduate Diploma - http://qualifyme.edu.au/qualifications/graduate-diploma-of-management-learning/ . This qualification is nationally recognised. This is actually higher than a Bachelor Degree (Undergraduate program). On Vetassess website, it says that in order to get a positive skills assessment, I require a qualification comparable or higher than a Bachelor Degree for my chosen occupation. So, in theory, if I get this qualification, would that be sufficient for a positive assessment?
  12. Hi everyone. I have today received a negative PASA (Pre-Application-Skills-Assessment) from the ICAA (Institute of Chartered Accoutants of Australia). I'm an Accountancy & Finance graduate 2:1 (BA Hons). The ICAA comfirm that my degree is assessed as comparable to the level of an Australian Bachelor degree based on AEI-NOOSR guidelines but I am not suitable for my nominated occupation as Accountant 2211-11. They say that this is because not all of the core knowledge areas have been studied in my degree or have not been covered in sufficient depth. I have been working in practice as an Accountant since graduation for the past nine years. I was hoping you might be able to advise if there is any point in me contesting this or if there would be any point in having my skills assessed by another recognised accountancy body? The news has left me totally devestated. I was confident this would be only a formality. I am part-qualified ACCA with my final three exams left to do. However, I have a little boy aged two and I didn't really want to wait for the 12 months post qualified once I have completed ACCA before going. Would it be an option for me to acquire an employer sponsored Visa now and make entry that way. Would I be automatically accepted for PR after two years? I would be sincerely grateful for your thoughts, I really would. Many thanks, Helen
  13. Hi to you all. This is our first post, the trades recognition is our first step on gaining a skilled migrant visa to NSW, Sydney. I have been self employed for 10 years and run a successful landscape design and build company but have no formal qualifications for TRA. I have been told to do the RPL, cost AUD$2,300, to gain a certificate III in Horticulture (landscaping). I have a website Hopkins Gardens, testimonials and portfolios, is there anyway of avoiding the assessment and applying directly to TRA. Can anyone hazard a guess to how long it will take 'till we receive our permanent visa? We feel rather knocked back having made the decision to go. Your advice would be greatly appreciated!
  14. Hi I am new to the forum. I am a special needs teacher with 12 years experience and MA degree plus other Post grad sen quals and have put everything together for skills assess. However i cannot illustrate 45 days of supervised teaching experience for MA...don't think that exists in UK. So was wondering if there are any other SEN teachers who have got through (or not ) the skills assessment? Hoping to get the paperwork to my agent by the end of the week. He told me to put together what I had and send it but don't want to spend any more money on IELTs tests etc if I am going to fail the assessment
  15. HI, My 4 yrs od has had an initial assessment indicating autistic spectrum disorder. He has NOT been diagnosed with anything. THe lovely Dr said it could be 8 months before he can be further assessed, She is aware of our intention to emigrate and we may be gone by then. My query is how can I get him assessed again when in Oz. Do I just take his assessment with me and take it to a Dr to get referred on. Will it cost anything? The Dr said it could affect emigrating if he was diagnosed but at this stage she has identified there is an issue with communication and understanding etc so he can not be judged as it is not a diagnosis. Anyone been in a similiar postition? Thanks Catherine

    Advice on skills assessment

Hi Guys, Firstly thanks for this site - I have been reading every day for about a year now! We at at the point of asking CPA for a skills assessment for my OH for the Tax Accountant role. Problem we have is that he doesn't have one of the mandatory fields which is knowledge of Australian Tax - obviously, why would he have this we live in England?? Can anyone advise: 1. Should we try and do distance learning course in Oz tax before putting in for skills assessment? 2. Should we just apply for skills assessment and see what comes back? 3. Should we get an agent at this stage (athough did want to do it ourselves) as their input may be needed with this? Really thankful for any replies that may help or if anyone is in the same situation. Gemma

    CPA Negative assessment

HI All, I applied for Accountant category at CPAA but got a negative assessment. I have 2 years bachelors degree and a membership of Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountants (PIPFA) but they are considering both my qualifications as equal to AQF Associate degree therefore I did not met the initial comparable criteria. However, now I intend to apply for internal auditor category at vetassess. But I fear that I will get the same assessment from them too. Any advices?? One more thing, do vetassess give positive assessment on CIA membership. Is CIA treated equal to AQF (Australian) Bachelor Degree? Awaiting your positive feedback and suggestion. KR, Eddy
  18. Hi all, I applied to vetassess (General Electrician) back in January hoping to get on the April assessment just gone. Unfortunately, due to numbers i am now on the july assessment. Vetassess Paper assessment has been Passed with approval to continue to the Practical. My story so far! Hope it helps... A lot of sparks are asking what evidence do we need to provide! Basically, everything you can lay your hands on. For me, i never did an formal apprenticeship. (Nightmare) I went to work as a sparkies mate 20 years ago and learnt on the job. During this period i undertook every aspects of electrical work. It was only when they introduced the new regs, Part P etc a few years ago that i decided to get off my ass and get my own Certs so i could continue to work legally, hence certifying my own work etc. Back to college aged 37 to get my 2351 Level 3 Electrical Engineering, 2381 16th Edition Regulations, EMTA Award Building regulations in Electrical Installations. Once i got these City and Guilds Quals (Took 2 years) i applied to NICEIC to be assess and successfully became a NICEIC approved Electrician. Finally, i took my Health & Safety Course (IOSH) which further gained accreditation with vetassess. Dont forget i was working for 20 years as a spark and knew more than the tutors in some cases. Because of this i had to prove that my training was back to front... 20 years experience and then the certs... It was a worry that vetassess would only assess me from the last couple of years owing to my late qualifications. Luckily, most of the companies i worked for provided awesome references and the fact that i had trade accounts covering years before. Some of the papers i provided included copies of my test certificatres, Invoices i sent to customers, Statements from subcontractors, CIS4 Stubbs for payments received, Full yearly accounts/tax returns from my accountant. Tools i bought, receipts, Statutory Declaration. Statement from customers... Suppliers, Employers. Copies of G&G certificates, even the colour of the wife knickers.. :biglaugh: Basically, anything you can get your hands on... The more info the better... But it has to be relevant to the trade... Please to say that it was worth it in the end because i passed the paper assessment! However, over that last 20 years i can honestly say that i never installed a DOL blinkin starter... Having seen them now there is nothing to them so not an issue... Im looking forward to the practical as im hoping this to be the easy bit.. At the end of the day its what us sparks to best.. Hands on! Hope it answers any questions, so you sparks with formal quals and apprentices it should be a doddle... You will need to test and inspect as this is taken serious on the practical and must have good knowledge of the readings from the tests. Additionally, the assessor does throw questions at you whilst testing.. If you are are not up to sctatch i would recommend the Inspection and testing book Guidence Note 3. This will get you up to speed on testing. Oh Yes! Vetassess give you a big tick if you are a member of a certifying body, NICEI, NAPIT etc, Also H&S is big bonus (IOSH) and additional training quals.(EMTA Building Regs). Hoped i helped.. Chris Mac

    Nursing Skills Assessment

Hi Everyone, Information for anyone considering submitting their nursing skills assessment. I am a 8 years qualified registered nurse (adult) currently working in a a walk in centre. Previously I was a research nurse for a university and before that a ward and out-patient based staff nurse. I submitted my skills assessment which covered the last 4 years. I had to include a statement of service with exact dates for my last 2 positions and a comprehensive breakdown of my duties (which was more or less a copy of my job description). I also had to provide a detailed professional reference from my current employer. Plus $650! My agent submitted it on 19th March 2009. I was a little worried in case the research or the walk in centre work wouldn't be suitable enough for them, but it was successfully approved on 11th May 2009. A total of 7 and a half weeks.
  20. Hi, I have been waiting for months to see an assesment date for carpentry with Vetasses. Does anybody know what's going on? Regards, Terry
  21. Hi guys, We're just at the start of the process and was hoping for some advice! My hubby works in HR and we are trying to organise all the information we need for the skills assessment. The skills assessment is for HR Manager and it is with the Australian Institute of Management. They ask for lots of detailed information, which I think we can provide but just wanted to check if anyone has passed this skills assessment and if so can give us any tips before we submit the application? Thanks in advance for any help! Clare D
  22. Hi First time poster to the site guys. My head is up my *rse lately so please help!! We recently decided to apply for a visa to Oz... simple I thought?... not on your nelly!! Same old story... partner is a plasterer over 15 years... has run his own successful plastering co the last 10+ years BUT! never got formal qualifications (like alot of plasterers in Ireland during the boom years!). So our problem is this:- We're running out of time to apply under the old 175 Visa app process as my partner would need to get an AQF Level III qualification for Skills pathway E (since A, B or C would require a subsequent 2 years in the trade after an NVQ equivalent cert). But I'm having problems finding an AQF assessment in the UK. Also, since time is running out should we be waiting to see what happens after July 1st... if anything does actually happen as I've been reading this may not be passed until the end of the year? I think we should get this AQF cert eitherway, as you (apparently) get the 10 points in the new points system. Part of me is thinking that we'll go to alot of trouble to get this AQF, only to be told you need 5 years on the job exp with this or something as this seems to be the story every way we have turned in our quest!! (sorry ranting there). Sorry, to the point... can you tell me:- A: Is there a way of getting your AQF Level III in the UK? B: Would he be better off flying to Oz to attain this qualification? C: Is there any point in applying for a 175 visa before July 1st (even though it may be delayed) & since the TRA take about 3 months to process? D: Under the new points system it says you get 10 points for family sponsorship... my partner doesn't have family, but I have alot in Perth... can we use my family sponsorship for the 10 points even though he would be the main applicant? I wouldn't even ask him to attempt the IELTS for the extra 10/20 points, his spelling is atrocious!! I realise this is alot of questions... so if you reply... many thanks in advance!!
  23. have a query due to which I am confused and have not submitted my visa application yet for which I need clarity. I have worked in three different job positions during my career which are all related to my nominated occupation ‘ Marketing Specialist’ (225113). Details are: Position1: Job Title: Territory Executive Occupation: Marketing Specialist Company Name: Pakistan Tobacco Company Start date: 17/02/2014 End Date: To date (mentioned 20/08/2014 while filling form) Position 2: Job Title: Business Executive Occupation: Marketing Specialist Company Name: Premier Distributors Start Date: 27/03/2012 End Date 10/02/2014 Position 3: Job Title: Management Trainee Occupation: Marketing Specialist Company Name: Premier Distributors Start Date 26/12/2011 End Date 26/3/2012 However in my Skills assessment from Vet assess only "Position 2" is assessed positively from 05/2012 10/2013 – at the time I sent my application for assessment Position 1 is not mentioned because I joined that job after assessment and position 3 is not there because of unavailability of reference letters at that time. My all positions are consistent with a career advancement pathway and I do have all the necessary reference letters and evidences which shows that all of my employment roles are relevant to my nominated position. . That is why I mentioned "YES" on the below question: Is this employment related to the nominated occupation: “Yes” I am not claiming any point for any of my work experience as my total experience is less than 3 years and my points in EOI and points claimed in Visa application are same so everything in EOI and Visa form is consistent. and I have mentioned these in Employment history Since my current EOI is mentioned correctly, I would like to know whether I can proceed with the visa application with current EOI or I need to fill new EOI again and mention the employment which is only assessed by Assessment Authority. I already got invitation and and now just need to press last button of submitssion of Visa. If some one have gone through such situation or can clear situation to me I will be very thank ful
  24. Hi All, I'm new here.:wubclub: I just need some help regarding my ACS assessment. I have both bachelors and masters in IT and planing to get myself assessed as ICT Business Analyst - 261111. I have five years experience in Telco domain, but there's a bit of a problem with my designation, it goes as Product Development Executive but my day today job tasks involve the tasks as explained in both ABS and ACS sites. My queries; I can get a letter from my employer but my designation will be Product Development Executive will it be a problem for ACS? When I write this letter do I have to mention about the individual project I have carried out like most programmers and software engineers does? Problem is when it comes to programmers they can say that they used different technologies & programming languages for each and every project, but I don't really undrstand how to go to that minute level & is it really necessary for this BA ANZSCO? Highly appreciate your feedback & hoping this thread would be useful for future applicants going to take a similar route :wubclub:
