hello, I want to get professional recognition to be defined as a welfare worker. The association that defines professional equivalency is ACWA. They wrote on their site that they accept TOEFL ibt. It does not write anything positive or negative about the TOEFL home edition exam. They don't answer phones or emails. TOEFL home edition is also known as a TOEFL ibt exam. ACWA never used the phrase that we only accept exams taken at the test center. In this case, I think they will accept the TOEFL home edition exam result, what do you think?

TRA - Skill Pathway D Affected Tradies - Workplace Assessments
Alan Collett posted a topic in Visa Chat
We are in discussions presently with TAFEs in Australia about workplace assessments being carried out in Australia for certain occupations. In turn this should facilitate an AQF Certificate III qualification (recognised by employers in Australia => increased employment prospects) and a positive skills assessment from Trades Recognition Australia under Skill Pathway E. We anticipate that the process will involve individuals with trades skills carrying out an initial assessment of their existing competencies while outside Australia. Assuming all (or substantially all) of these competency requirements can be met individuals would then travel to Australia when a practical assessment would be carried out. Recognising that Australian qualifications are often not the same as UK qualifications any gaps in competencies that are not major would also be dealt with at that time, perhaps requiring an additional 2 or 3 days of tuition prior to the granting of the AQF III. Costs of this exercise are not yet finalised, but are likely to be significantly less than those being quoted by workplace assessors visiting the UK. I would be pleased to hear from individuals with one of the following occupations, who would like to receive more information as we progress discussions with the TAFEs: - Painters and decorators - Plasterers - Hairdressers - Chefs - Welders I can be reached by email via alan - at - gomatilda - dot - com Best regards.- 13 replies

Hi guys, I am new on this site, but I find it very helpful. I hope you can help me. What we need to a successful cook assessment? My boyfriend learnt 5 years to be a cook and has 3 years part time apprenticeship during school. After we moved to the UK, he has been working from June as a cook and we plan here two years more. It will be enough for a positive skill assessment? Thanks, Kiki

HEllo every1 @ POMS Starting just another thread for skill assessment queries. I have applied for a ACS Skill assessment and was wondering if any of you Experienced pll around can help in my queries 1> How long does it take to get the skill assessment. The ACS website say 12 weeks. But just wanting to know the approx time.. do they take full 12 weeks. (Since i applied on 15 March and the new pts test comes in effect on July 1, was kinda worried.) 2> IF a candidate has had a address change while he has applied for the Skill assessment, does it affect his assessment.. Does he have to inform the ACS about it..?? Cheers..PEACE:hug:

Hello, I am sure that these kind of questions were asked before thousand times but I wonder about my situation. I have B.Sc. and M.Sc. on Electrical-Electronics Engineering. In addition I have success on electronics. My work experience is about 90% on IT at my current job. Also my total work experience is about 3,5 years on IT. I have not changed my job. Now I wonder if I can get assessment from Engineers Australia as an electrical or electronics engineer. Do they count electronics and IT as closely related occupations? Or I have no chance assessing my skills on electronics? I guess better we consider new changes on immigration law.

ACS skill assessment on Systems Analyst (ANZCO: 261112) Questions
horbola posted a topic in Visa Chat
What exactly should be suitable/relevant work experience to be assessed as Systems analyst? I have gone through the definition on the related websites and thought I qualify as Systems Analyst, but ACS suggested me that I am suitable to qualify as Systems Engineer (263111). I have 3+ yr experience as Global Support Analyst and Senior Systems analyst in different companies where I was invloved in designing, implementing and trouble-shooting of applications, servers etc and 1.5 yr experience as Network Engineer and hold a Bachelor degree on EEE(Electrical and Electronics Engineering). What I really wanted is to apply as a independent (175 PR visa). Is there any member who have positive assessment as a Systems analyst here in PIO? If so, could you please share your experience? I appreciate any comment/sharing experience as these questions are burning my head. Thank you in advance. -
Any advice to prove evidence of skill other than TRA skill assessment for 457? Please help!
Guest posted a topic in Visa Chat
I’ve lodged onshore 457 visa as a metal fabricator and my company’s nomination has been approved. i have provided my qualification (european diploma in welding) and employment references for relevant experiences for about 2 and a half yrs (2 yrs in Belgium and 6 months in Oz). now the case officer ask me to provide further evidence to prove i have the necessary skills according to ANZSCO, but i’m from belgium there’s no skill asseessment avaivable to me (already called and told by TRA). does that mean my visa will be refused because i don’t have australian qualification or 3 yrs relevant experience (from ANZSCO) is there any other way to prove i have the necessary skills? Any advice will be appreciated! Thanks in advance! robbi9- 3 replies

Hi all- New member, first post. My friend is an American Welder (First Class) and he wants to come to Oz permanently. His skill is on the SOL and he has years of experience and otherwise qualifies. However, TRA will not assess his qualifications b/c he is not from a nominated country. The nominated countries are: China Fiji India Iran Ireland Korea (South) Pakistan Philippines South Africa Sri Lanka United Kingdom United Arab Emirates (UAE) My question is, are you serious?! He speaks English, has yonks of top experience in a skill in demand in Oz and the problem is his US passport?! Interested in any migration lawyers' perspectives especially. It seems like a really odd, and perhaps discriminatory, result. Thanks in advance. Slodkiy

Hi, Me and my husband are planning to immigrate to Australia. I have some questions regarding skill assessment from ACS. - My husband had applied for Skill Assessment from ACS as a Software Tester in the year of 2009, and he got the approval as well. But we could not apply for immigration due to some personal reasons. Now we are again planning to immigrate. Questions 1: Can we use the expired Skill Assessment Approval that was sent in 2009 in any way, may be to get the reassessment done, or to get the file reopened? What is the procedure and fee? Question 2: This time we do not plan to use a consultant. And I am planning to do it myself. I qualify under SOL Schedule 2 (Technical Writer 212415 VETASSESS). Does this mean that we will have to immigrate to a particular state only. Question 3: Is the process of Skill Assessment similar to General Skill Migration SOL Schedule 1. Thanks in Advance.

Hi, My wife is wrking as Computer Faculty since April 2005 in Govt. High School (Punjab School Education Board). Till July 2011 the post was contractual, but full time and paid. Now it is equivalent to Vocational Lecturer. She holds M.Sc. IT, MCA (lateral entry into 3rd year after MSc) completed in 2004. From which agency can we get her skills assessed? Will she be eligible under GSM or any chances of getting positive skill assessment?

Get Skill Assessment done for lower qualification instead of hightest qualification
Guest posted a topic in Visa Chat
Hi, I completed my MCA in Aug. 2008. But before that I was awarded Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (after 1 Yr. study after Graduation, in 2003) and Advanced Diploma in Computer Application (after 2 Yrs. study after Graduation, in 2004). I am working as Software Engineer since August 2005 (permanent, full-time, paid). I got skill assessment from ACS in Feb, 2010. It stated: Dates: 08/05 to 10/09 (aug/05 to oct 09) 4 yrs 2 months Position: senior software engineer Later it states "Your skills have been assessed to be suitable for migration under 2231-79 (.Net Technologies Specialist) of the ASCO Code, being skilled occupation indicated that you intend to nominate in a General Skilled Migration application." Next: "Based on the provided certified documentation it is the opinion of the ACS that the application has 12 months experience in .NET Technoloiges." As I will get same points for Graduation/Diploma or Masters Degree, I am considering getting my professional experience re-assessed based on my ADCA or PGDCA. Please guide me if it is legal and does not breach any rules to get assessed lower qualification, as I am holding higher qualification. Thanks.-

Hi guys, Im in serious problem now. I just graduated on June 2011. I lodged 485 online(august 2011) and now my visa expired and on bridging visa A. Everything went smoothly until i got the negative assessment from vetassess. I know i should use agent from the start.=( Now I'm confused how to solve this problem. Can i re-apply 485 on paper application on bridging visa a and after i lodge it,i will withdraw the old 485? of course i will choose different occupation which closer to my degree. Second options, I think i should withdraw and go back home and come back to australia with visitor visa and apply new 485 visa with different occupation asap within 6 months of my graduation. And also use agent. (should i go home with bridging visa b and apply for visitor visa to australia or i have to withdraw first)???? I have called migration agent but nobody available now. I just want to know the answer like asap. Please give me some information about any good agents or recommendation what should i do. thank you

I am 42 this year and have tried out the visa wizard. I have a Diploma in Electrical Eng. which is listed in the SOL but when it comes to working experience, I got none cause the last work related was 20 years ago and afterthat I have been in a sales line. Without the nominated skill experience , is there any other channel that I can try, like going for student visa at Tafe while gaining employment in the related field for a year and than apply PR under Skill Visa. Time is running out for me and anyhelp is appreciated. Thank you.
