  1. I'm assuming you will have a positive skills assessment for a skills that's on one of the migration lisis before you submit your EOI...
  2. This doesn't have that much impact on your "skills assessment". Provided you're a Degree level nurse, and not a Dip(HE), and you have all the relevant experience backed up, your skills assessment should be a breeze.
  3. Hey all, Has anyone successfully applied for a 189/190 as a Chef? I'm making some enquiries on behalf of someone. Thanks, DN
  4. Operating Department Practitioner. Essential member of the anaesthetic team. Has been around for decades, probably under a different name.

I'm sorry, but wasn't a £1 billion money tree found to be growing in the Tory party's backyard recently?

    State of the NHS

People aren't working in the NHS to make money. The reason most of the public isn't feeling the results of years of pay and funding restraint in the NHS is because of the workers' compassion, expressed through curtailing their lunches, or even foregoing them, staying a little bit late and not bothering to claim for that time, squeezing that extra few patients by hook or crook. So the private sector can help improve the NHS? Have a look at what happened to the Wiltshire drug and alcohol service that the NHS lost the tender for in the noughties, which was then"ran" by a private outfit, but had to be rescued by the NHS...

Unfortunately that's not completely correct. Only certain types of MRI scans are able to be bulk billed. Some places with more than 1 scanner may have a bulk billing licence/part licence for only one of their scanners, meaning that you may not be scanned on the newest machine.
  9. No. The 189 was granted workout any conditions, fortunately. It just ended up costing us £1550 for the 101, instead of the £500 for adding the baby to our 189.
  10. This is what our thought process was. We did do the medicals, apart from the X-ray for my wife, and had uploaded everything. However, we were granted the 189 without the X-ray having been done (extremely rare). So we ended up having to submit a 101. I did email DIPB and request that our application be put on hold until after the birth, but it appears that this was ignored.
  11. FYI, our 101 took just under the 4 weeks to be granted from the date the money was taken out. Processed at the London office. Decision was sent by email, from a "@dfat.gov.au" address, so check your spam folder too. Hope your wait isn't too much longer. And it is hot in Brisbane, by Brit standards, but this is apparently not the norm for the winter.
  12. Hi Iron Chef, I dropped you an email last week, not sure if you received it. It was about my SEAT Mii. Would you kindly be willing to provide me with a door-to-door cost please? Thanks, DN
  13. From the date when the money was taken out, it was just over 3 weeks until ours was granted. We didn't get any acknowledgement emails/letters, it went straight to a grant, sent via email.
  14. Glad to hear you guys have landed safely, and have had a sound first day of your new adventure! This time next month it's gonna be us flying over... We're staying in Singapore too, but only for 1 day, before flying to Brisbane. We can't wait to mingle with the Brissie locals!
  15. Hey. I'm a radiographer who's just completed my visa application. Now that the 457 has been taken out, I'm not sure what the equivalent would be for it. Being brutally honest, you would struggle finding locum work as a newbie in the UK, let alone in Aus. If you're considering the 189/190 permanent visas, they will require a minimum of 3 yrs post grad experience. You're better off getting a solid foundation first, ideally go work for a major trauma hospital. At the latter, you'll also have a better chance of getting trained in a modality much quicker, which in turn, will allow you to then apply for a Senior Radiographer post in Aus. At the time of writing, the salary of the latter starts at $99k... I'm happy to answer any questions if you think I can help. I have also documented my journey as to how I went about to apply for my visa/AHPRA/ASMIRT. DN
  16. Thank you so much for doing this, which must've been hard work, with a young child taking up your time! It's made things so much clearer. Sent from my XT1635-02 using Tapatalk
  17. Hey. I didn't fill in a declaration form. I paid for another ICHC. I also got the HCPC to send another current CoGS to AHPRA.
  18. Hey. I submitted my AHPRA in September, got "in Principle" 3 months later. I presented to an AHPRA office to finalise the application, and received confirmation 2 weeks from that. Hth.
  19. Thanks IronChef. We definitely want to have a vehicle in Aus, and having heard how difficult it can be to get a decent used car there, I was thinking maybe it would be better to one from the UK, that I know the history of.
  20. Hi IronChef. Thanks for my quote last year on the motorcycle. My circumstances have now changed and I have traded the bike for a car. 21. I know it means paying for another ICHC, but the CoGS should be free, thus could you not ask for them again? Might be the easier way out.
