My acknowledgement date is now past one year and its "excruciatingly" slow going, the anticipation - I'm afraid I wake most mornings at 5a.m. and rush to check email!

My 7 year old grandson today said (big sigh) "but Nanny Val WHEN are you coming to live here? How many more sleeps? I miss you......." Oh the agonising reply - I don't know yet, but soon!

Come on DIAC - get a move on! PLEEEEEEASE.......

Awwwwwww , our hearts go out to you, Val & Matt.

If over a year since your acknowledgement date, you're almost there.

For us, we got our CO within 14 months, and after that, all hell broke loose.... we got out visa offer about 4 weeks later, only largely because we had a delay with getting our second VAC paid over with their silly system.... see elsewhere re this topic!

The last few weeks speed by so fast, once you know that you've got it... got it!

I'd advise you to get your medicals and police checks done right now.

Good luck and bon courage!

John & Eirian

I can't wait to update the tracker Val - our acnowledgement date was 24th May 2011. Every morning I wonder if this will be the one when we hear some news. Our agent emailed us on Friday and said if he doesn't hear something on Monday he intends to escalate things. So I am hoping against hope that we will have news this week. It is quite agonising!

Watch this space!

So hope you hear something, fingers crossed for you :twitcy:

Hi Fran

I am afraid I cannot advise re the exchange rate (except to note that the AUD has strengthened against all the major currencies since we moved to Perth over 2 years ago) but I would like to ask you a question if you don't mind? When did you do your medicals and Police clearances and what made you decide to do them before getting a case officer? My parents have lodged an application for a 143 a couple of months ago and are trying to decide whether they should do their medicals about 10 months after acknowledgment.

Thank you and hope you get some good financial advice!

Michelle

Do it, Michelle.

I'm sure our dealing with both 8 months before we got our CO speeded up the final visa offer enormously.

Good luck.

John & Eirian

PS meanwhile GBP v AUD exchange rates continue to tumble (now 1.52 to the £), so every day costs! The "experts" see no end to the flood/drought?!

Is credit card an option? Our letter didn't suggest it is! Straight choice between personal cheque or ban cheque, it said.

Why do they make this so difficult?

Regards.

John & Eirian

I am really interested in this as I am sending the money to my son in Aus (see my previous post re euro devaluation) and as he is offshore on the mines he will not be able to get to a bank to get a cheque and would have to wait for his R&R, so it would be a further delay. I am really hoping that they will accept credit card as it would be easy enough for him to do it this way. Thanks again to all on this forum for the great advise and support. I am really hoping that there is some move on the tracker list soon and does anyone know what the delay is all about or is it normal.

Oh, believe me, I do watch this space, many, many times a day!!! I really hope you hear something this week, that would be fantastic! I really thought there would have been a noticeable increase in allocation after 1st July, but it doesn't seem so does it. I suppose there are many other applicants globally that are not on the tracker - I tend to conveniently forget about them!

Thankyou Jon and Eirian, yes we got our meds and PCC done in AprilMay, shippers sorted, house on market, de-junked (just waiting for some dry weather to have car boot sale) - can't do more until "D-Day" or should I say "CO Day"!

Hi,

This is my first posting on this site so hope it works!

We are almost at the final stages now on a 143 visa.

Can anyone advise me what is the best way to pay the 2nd vac? We are unsure of how to get the money to where it needs to go.

It seems like a minefield! Not sure if we should be using bank/building society transfer or a company such as moneycorp?

Hi,

I believe several of the specialist currency firms can arrange A$ bank drafts for the purpose of paying the main VAC - it is certainly worth making enquiry of Moneycorp, HiFX, etc.

Best regards.

So do you think those names at the top of the tracker, say the first 8-10 names, do you think they have all either got their Visa or have been allocated a CO, but not updated the tracker?????

Just a thought but it's been the school holidays in Oz - perhaps this is why it's so slow? Maybe, after a nice long break, the lovely workers at the DIAV will be keen to start looking at our applications!! We live in hope ... :notworthy: Angie

Thanks for your reply Alan.

I will look into it with moneycorp/hifx .

The exchange rate isn't looking too good at the moment!

G'day all

Yes – we're getting frustrated too. It's been about three weeks since our daughter sent a bank draft (for the 2nd VAC, 173>143) to DIAC Perth, and there has been no acknowledgement. (This was after they apparently twice tried to charge our Aussie debit card, but were refused – the bank "couldn't understand why", as there was plenty of money in the account!)

Since then, three emails direct to our CO have gone unreplied, so we can only guess that it's hols time as you suggest – pity there is not even an "out of office" response!

Tomorrow our daughter will try phoning to find out what's what. Meanwhile we are in France in our motorhome, on the end of a very slow internet connection. But at least it hasn't rained today – for the first time in a week! Things must be looking up.

Ho hum, Mike and Sue

As Alan pointed out, credit cards are an option, the practical problem is if your personal bank will let you pre-load the card to make the payment, some do not, of course if you have a very large credit limit like Alan ;-) then no problem.

Bankers cheque from son or daughter is the easy way to go when the time comes.

Regards to all.

Does CO stand for "Come on?" From what several other mails report, perhaps it does!

Congratulations Kim, great news for ye. And for the rest of us the delay must be over, maybe we will see more movement on the list now.Hope all goes well for ye.

Fran.

Absolutely thrilled to be able to say that we received the request for the 2nd VAC at 11:15am today. At last, we might just get across that finishing line! Happy days!

Hi everyone, not been on here for a while but wondered if anyone could help. I would like to bring my mum over on an aged parent visa and apply onshore. I have been reading up on this and keep seeing a condition of 8503 not being put on the visa and wondered what kind of visa my mum would need to come out on that would not have the 8503 condition normally attached to it. Can anyone help please? Then we are thinking of applying for onshore and getting bridging visa until application looked at some 15 years later. My mum would be ok as she would be living with us but we cannot afford to pay the $42k for contributory parent visa and mum has no money to fund this. Thanks

G'Day

Others may have a better idea, but I suspect the shorter the "holiday" visa the better – maybe a three-month eVisitor (internet)?

Your mum would, of course, have to travel on a return ticket.

Good luck, Mike

Great news Kim! So happy for you. Perhaps it won't be long now for those of us just behind you on the tracker. Angie
