Does the contributory 143 visa need a return visa when leaving Australia after four years. Ann

I migrated to Perth in march 2013, I am travelling back to the uk next Apri, will I need a visitors return visa after being here four years. i will apply for citizenship after march as been here four years but I don't think I will get Australian passport in time for travelling. And if I start the process and don't need a visitors return visa I will wait for citizenship until I come back.otherwise applying sooner will cancel out the visa I have now. cheers annie

Hi Andy, i had to have an Australian police check for the same reasons , and it's didn't require fingerprints, all pretty straight foreward although i had an agent to help. :smile: Ann

So true Alan, without your knowledge and support regarding my AOS i would have certainly lost my visa, if i had done it alone i would not have known about the PTY Limited for doing the AOS. It was a problem i could never have foreseen earlier on. so i am glad i used your agency as i would not be nearing visa grant without you. :smile: Ann

All to do with the Rabies blood testing after having second booster and quarentine, didn't get much of an answer from Transfur but Bob from petair answered my question and also confirmed with Defra that he was right, i just felt more confident in using petair as any query i had was answered right away nothing was to big or small. Ann

I started the process with Transfur but when i hit a problem i found they were of little help, thankfully changed to Petair uk, have to say i was helped assisted and advised every step of the way, nothing was to much trouble. I can highly recomend them. Ann

Some folk thought i was totally mad paying all that money to take my pooch, dog lovers however understood. There was never any question my dog wasn't coming with me, he flew out on the 11th of this month and i have to say i was on pins until he landed on the Monday, Byford quarentine emailed me to say my dog was well and very happy to be out the crate, unfortunately there were bushfires in the area of the quarentine centre and my son phoned me the early hours wednesday from perth to say my dog Bob was being relocated to a safe area away from the bushfires along with all the other pets, unfortunately they can not tell me where he is but he is well and being cared for by their staff. After a week in the kennels quarentine phoned my son to say they would let my Bob out early but my son had a dog and 2 cats so they can't let him out. I am still in the UK but hope to fly out next week and move in a place of my own so my first port of call will be to collect Bob, i can't wait to see him. Even though he has had a bit of a traumatic time i am told by friends whose dogs go into kennels how ressiliant dogs are. I have worried something rotten while he has been away but quarentine have been very good and kept me informed he is well and eating. I don't regret my decision so far and i am sure you won't either. They are worth every penny.:animal-dog:

They only check for HIV in the blood test, and in my medical in Manchester my urine was tested there and then with a dip stick and i was told it was fine, i came away from my medical happy after being told all was ok, i had an operation last year and the consultant kindly wrote me a letter on the result of my op, they were more than happy with this . maybe after having 2 kids and had to give a sample on numerous occasions presenting one is never any trouble.:biggrin: hope all goes well, which i am sure it will. I set my mind on coming to Australia years ago after my first holiday in Perth, i had to many commitments at the time as i was nursing both my parents and my daughter was still at university, My daughter is now married and settled here and my son became a permanent resident 3yrs ago so i decided it was now my time to live a little after happily and willingly looking after my family. My job in age care with the council will go to the private sector this year and my poor wage will only get worse, my chances of affording to accrue a decent pension are poor and i don't see any improvement in my standard of living at present, I have to say i am not coming to OZ with rose tinted glasses, i do realise i will have to work just as hard over there as i do here for a decent standard of living, but i love the sunshine and lifestyle, i enjoy the simple things in life that mostly come free in the outdoors, my daughter will visit often as will my sister. My son and his wife had a baby boy last september so i now have a new grandson to meet and enjoy time with. I hope to leave for perth in the next 2 wks and i really can't wait to get my rental and enjoy my pooch when he comes out of quarentine in 3wks, had a bit of worry this week as he only landed on Monday and i recieved an email form quarentine to say my dog has been relocated due to the bushfires near Byford where the quarentine centre is. He is safe and well cared for so that is the main thing. I wish everyone good luck going through the process from all the happy posts from previous pio's it's well worth the stress and worry once you finaly get there. Happy days !!!!! Ann:cool:

Yes you do as i had to do this as my stays in Australia over the last 10yrs exceeded 12 months. It's pretty straight forward but i had the help of my agent so can't advice if your doing the 143 yourself. All the best with your process. Ann

Hi it's me..... yes i did apply before my son was resident for the 2yrs because of the criteria you mentioned but i have since heard DIAC have become a bit strict on this now and i remember being worried because of the post mentioned that was refused, i am just waiting for my 2nd vac to be requested then hopefully the visa soon to follow. I would take advice from a migrant agent before putting in the application. I can recommend Alan Collett from Go Matilda he often gives good advice on here. All the very best in your process. Ann

Hello Moira, just seen your post and not sure if your meaning me with your query on my sons accounts, but if is me i think i will just make getting my AOS done in time before my final extension deadline of the 18th Jan this month, it's been nothing short of a complete nightmare moira, my sons end of year taxes were taking forever and still not done so i have to say this is were Agents come into their own and are well worth using, Alan Collette my agent was my saviour here and informed me of another way of doing the AOS with a PTY Limited which my son already has, you do not need your assurers end of year financials for proof of earnings but the draw back is you have to give centrelink $20,000 instead of the $10,000, we sent the forms off to centrelink middle of December but unfortunately being xmas and new year it slowed things up, my son contacted centrelink in canerra today he was told a letter would be sent from Adelaide so hopefully he will recieve that Tuesday my son takes the letter to the commonwealth bank in Perth to open the account for the AOS and then immigration is informed, so hopefully this can be completed before the 18th jan, my anxiety was so bad i had to visit my GP who prescribed me Beta blockers, never been so stressed in my life, after 2yrs of going through all this and seeing it slip away was just to awful to comprehend. Anyway fingers crossed all will be sorted next week and i will be joining you all in celebrating getting the precious visa. It's so unpredictable the visa process as just when you are confident all is going to plan.... Wollop.... you hit a problem that can snooker your plans. I have never been so glad to hand over my life savings.:twitcy: My Grandson was born in Septemer and i haven't seen him yet so it will be so great to finaly meet him. Congrats all went great with you Moira, absolutely great news....... get the tracker updated you deserve it. Lets hope i will be doing the same soon. I really can't thank Go Matilda enough otherwise i would never have known i could do the AOS this way. Ann

Thank you Allan for your kind reply and information, it's not the personal income test thats the problem it just took so long for his accountant to finalise all his paperwork and it only went to the ATO 5TH Nov and they are still processing his paperwork, my case officer gave me an extension until 1st dec but i will not meet this deadline so i will have to ask for another extension, i hope the ATO finalise it soon as i worry how many extensions immigration will allow. I am so very stressed at the moment, everything else is in place it's just this thats holding me up.

Hello Vanessa, i have sent you a private message regarding your extensions for your mum-in-law, i am coming up to the end of my first extension and will have to ask for a second as i am still awaiting my sons tax to be done at the tax office to get my Assurance of support done, they have taken 3wks so far it's not straight forward as my son works for himself and it's a new business with heaps of paperwork so not sure how much longer they will be. I am sick with worry my case officer will not grant any more extensions and not really sure how many they will give, to have come so far and lose my visa is making me ill with worry i have everything else done and in place just need this tax info for my AOS. Hope you get sorted before your deadline on 10th dec. Thinking of you all as i know it's such a worry. Ann

I think he will have to go in person phoebe as trying to phone them is useless, only have a week left to my CO's deadline on 1st Dec so i think i will be asking for another extension at this rate, been a right nightmare these last few months waiting on my sons tax to be done for this AOS honest you get to the last leg and one thing goes wrong which holds everything up by weeks, so very frustrating. Early this year i had a lumpectomy which was benign thank goodness so in the grand scheme of things this is a small set back and i should remember to think myself very lucky. Hope all goes well with you phoebe with your next application. This is also my second attempt at this visa.Ann. :eek:

Helo Moira, I have had to have one extension from my CO so far, my sons taxes took weeks with his accountant and went to the tax office which fortunately only took just over 2 weeks, but i ran out of time for my AOS to be completed so have until 1st Dec for this to be done, the problem my son had last week was trying to get through to centrelink they kept putting him in a queue for 40 mins or more then the call gets cut off, finally after trying all day on Thurs he finally got to speak to someone and got as far as giving his name and the call got cut off again, i have asked him to go in person to make the appointment as i think it will be quicker if he can get away from work. I wil have to ask my CO for another extension as i can't see this being done by next week. The stress being on these time limits is awful, had to go my gp couple of months ago with terrible anxiety and she gave me Beta Blockers which were great, this Centrelink is just awful they should have enough staff to cope with the volume of calls. Chin up moira i know how you feel with the frustration of being held up, even worse when it's out of your conrol. Thinking of you. Ann

Great news Fran and i am so very pleased for you, your right it has been a long journey and stressful doesn't even cover it, i hope to join you in the celebrations soon just as soon as my son gets through to centrelink who at the moment keep putting him on hold for 40mins and then the call cuts out so he has to start again, 16 times he tried yesterday finally got through yesterday to speak to someone and got as far as giving the lady his name and the call cut out, it was 4.30pm so he tried once more to no avail, just hope he gets lucky tomorrow, such a poor service. Anyway it's going to be a great xmas for you now it's all over. Can't wait for our meet up for a holiday in sunny perth or Brisbane. Wha t a lovely post Kim, so glad you are settling down and enjoying life over there, first thing i intend to do is hire a car but have done that already in Perth so know what company to head to. I hope to be of some help too when my new grandson arrives all being well with the visa of course. So glad it was all worth the stress and money i must keep reminding myself of that. Thank you for the replies on medicare, i shall print the replies and have another read when i get over there. So hope i never have to use it but decisions have to be made in the first year like you said. I may top up on the dental and ambulance cover but will explore the cost. I am really going to miss websites like moneysupermarket.com i use these a lot when looking for good quotes. Thanks again. Ann
