  1. Great minds think alike Phoebe. I am applying for the 143 and hope to hear i have a CO soon, but early this year i had a bit of a scare with a breast lump, had it removed and thankfully it was benign. It has me wondering though if medicare actually covers you for any illness and treatments, if so i am happy with that as i have been more than happy with the treatment i had on the NHS and i do believe private isn't always necessarily better also i don't really want the added expense of private medical insurance. I just wondered what opinions our previous posters have who are actually over there now, have you taken out private medical insurance or just use medicare? Thanks Ann.
  2. I have a query regarding Medicare, can anyone throw any light on what you are actually covered for? I know ambulance cover is to be covered privately along with Dental care but are you covered for serious illness such as cancer which would require expensive ongoing treatment. I am quite happy to use medicare and top up privately on what i mentioned. Also when you have to visit a GP do you have to pay or is this covered by medicare? I have also read about bulk billing and to make sure you get this, what exactly is it? Be grateful for any info please. Thanks Ann
  3. Very underhand pulling a trick like that although i have heard it done before on here when the buyers get wind folk are emigrating. what goes around comes around in my opinion, i would leave nothing in the house i didn't have to even right down to the light bulbs, wouldn't even bother cleaning it. Goes against the grain i am sure but thats a really dirty stunt they pulled. But in the grand scheme of things i really am sure your having the last laugh. :fish2: shove a kipper behind the boiler.!! Sorry... it's bringing out the evil in me, :evilface_frowning_s
  4. They don't seem to go in any particular order on getting allocated a CO, do the applications just get selected out of a pile or are they supposed to be selected in order of lodgement, as you say though fran it's grand to see the tracker moving with a bit of speed, lets hope they keep it up, i am looking forward to my holiday in Brisi. Ann
  5. Yay,!! So pleased for you and wishing you all you hope for in your future journey, Good luck and keep us updated. :jiggy:Ann xx
  6. Hello and welcome, i am sure you will find this site a real help and no end of support along the way to getting your visa. I have followed it for years sharing the highs and lows with other posters until i was able to lodge my own application and was able to join in , i am going alone so felt a bit over-awed at times with having no partner to share the worries with, i think you have to do this process to fully understand the stress it can cause as .folk around you don't seem to understand. The time since lodging seems to have flown but you wouldn't have thought so to hear me moan. I have met a lovely lady on here also doing this alone and we have formed a great friendship over the months, we intend visiting each other across the country when we move over there so how great is that, a place of endless information and you get to meet some real nice folk too.I am hoping for a CO any day now. but i am sure my posts are far from over..... i wish you all the luck in the world and a speedy time until your visa is granted so you can join your family. 7. I was overpaid by 600 pound a few years back, we came to an agreement i would pay back 30 pounds a month which i did for 2yrs, explain your situation and offer what you can afford to pay back, i found them willing to help,
  8. Will let you know with Singapore Airlines as i am flying with them and i have read they give extra allowance, we have helped each other fran through most of this process don't know what i would have done without you, and Asda's wine offers of course, my recycling bin wakes the whole street up on bin day, no room for paper and such like. Getting closer to getting a CO so may need a second bin. :biglaugh: Ann
  9. Good luck on your exciting journey val, raising a glass of wine for you wishing you all the best on your new adventure. I am expecting a CO any day now so here's hoping all runs smoothly and i make for the arrival of my grandson in October in Perth. So glad your now on your way and the dream begins. All the very best to you both Ann xxx:hug:
  10. The $10,000 is per person, but $14,000 a couple. I agree with you on the cost increasing every year ( 1st july ) so if you are sure you want to go Norma then the sooner you apply the better to avoid further increases in cost. Ann
  11. All you do Norma is click on my name on the left and it should take you to my profile and you can message me from there, You also have to give $10,000 which is held in a account for 10yrs incase you should fall on hard times you can then call on this money as you are not allowed to claim on the benifit system for 10yrs. I am using ' Go Matilda ' migrant agent and they have been really great. Some folk do the paperwork themselves but i am single doing this alone and work full time so decided to use a migration agent to help me. Hope this helps. Also you have to pay to lodge the visa, then theres the medical and police checks...... all lots of pounds i'm afraid....... but worth it in the end. Ann
  12. Hello Norma, welcome to pomsinoz...... i am doing the 143 parent visa which costs $42,000 at rhe moment and is taking roughly 15mths or so to process. Your sons will have to be permanent residents for you to apply. There is other visa'a you could concider another being the 173 were you initially pay half then you have to then apply for the 143 and have 2yrs to pay the other half, still comes to the same cost but you have more time to gather the funds, and also gives you time to see if you like it before paying out the remainder. The parent visa thread is great for information and support and i would encourage you to join as you meet some really nice folk willing to help.I wish you all the best and if there's anything you want to ask please do either on here or a private message. 13. I have changed my address on all my Banking, Credit cards, tax and work pension to my Daughters house. Have you family or friends who wouldn't mind you using their address. Good luck with the move and wishing you all you hope for in your new adventure. Ann
  14. I'm sorry i can't help Moira but i really hope someone answers to help you, it must be really worrying at this late stage for you, fingers crossed the separation won't effect your application. Ann
  15. There is a criteria for being settled as in buying a home or renting one, having a job, owning a car, having children, pets etc... my son had not been a permanent resident for 2 years when i lodged my visa last year but ticked the boxes on the settled criteria list. I would concider giving a good migration agent a ring to discuss this. I can recommend Alan Collett ' Go Matilda ' very helpful and professional. Worth a call.......... Good luck, Ann
  16. Thank you for that Bob very kind of you to respond and i am very grateful for that. I have just filled in the quote form for my 2 dogs and sent it back to your company, lost a little faith with lack of advice and help from previous pet exporter. I am so pleased they can follow me sooner. Kind Regards Ann

  18. Hi Bob, thank you for the reply my vet gave me the number of Animal Health , and web address ..... petexports.carlisle@ahvla.gst.gov.uk I spoke to a lady and she confirmed what i said, i haven't as yet sent any docs to Aquis as i was in the process of doing so when it was noticed by the pet exporter i am using that the certificate would be out of date when they were due to fly being nov or dec as Byford is booked until oct now. They both had their rabies vaccines 16/9/11 and another on 4/10/11 ( they had the two vaccines ) followed by the blood test 1/11/11 which was fine. They had another vaccine 24/7/12 of this month and will be having another blood test in two weeks. I know it is now going to be a while before i can book them into Byford anyway as it is booked up but if theres anyway i can fly them without having to wait the 150 days this would be grand as my daughter & hubby work all day who will have to look after them for me when i eventually leave hopefully september. It looks like it's going to January before i can fly them out if i have to wait the 150 days. My pet exporter didn't seem to sure and if i am honest accepted what i was told by the lady i rang, he didn't offer to help or find out himself, just accepted i would have to wait the 150 days. I will check out your quotes Bob i have a shih Tzu and cross cairn/shih tzu only small dogs. Thanks for the reply bob, will give you a call .....i do undertand new regulations are confusing just seems strange to me they have to wait when they have the immunity. Ann

  20. Hi just thought i would mention incase there are others on here who like me did't realise if your pet hasn't left the country before the rabies blood test certificate runs out you have to start the whole process again. I had my two vaccinated last November in readiness for leaving this year, unfortunately there has been a delay with my visa and by the time my dogs can be booked into Perth quarentine the certificate will have run out, i have had to have the vaccination done this week then have the blood test in 2 weeks and then have the 150 day wait untill they can fly out, then the 30 days in quarentine. I am so gutted as i wanted them with me soon after i leave in september, i thought with already having the vaccine last year they would just need another vaccine then another blood test but don't understand why they have to wait the 150 days as surely they are immune and protected. I wish i had known as i would have timed it a little better, but very difficult when you don't know when your visa will be granted. Ann:cry:

  23. Your advice is taken on board Kim, i shall get him to take along his heavily pregnant wife for a sympathy vote with a plea of ' but we need mum to help with the baby' even the girls in work are getting frustrated with my wait or maybe they are fed up with me. So great we have this support though, i would have cracked if it wasn't for everone's support on here and have the added bonus of meeting fran on here ( summerdaisy) we shall be visiting each other across Australia for our hols. PIO is great for bringing folk together and to give advice and support along the way:smile: Ann
