1. Hi we also live in Narangba. Been in oz for 5 years now. We have a daughter in high school here and a son in primary. If you want to meet up pls send me a pm. Hope to hear from you. Sam
2. and as you know the expense is massive
3. Hi we brought our two cats out. They were about 8 and 9 years old. They did their time in quarantine then flew them up to Brisbane. They were very annoyed at us for a day or so and then they got on with it. One was long hair and suffered a bit with the heat and found all the bugs a bit daunting at first but they had a good life here. They have both passed now but I don't regret bringing them. Its up to you really. If you could leave her and this person sounds nice thats not a bad thing to do as you know cat will be looked after.
4. Hi is there a meet up soon? Not been to one for years. Might be good to get out and about again meeting new pio 'ers.
5. Hi Tiff82 Im in Narangba been here 5 1/2 years. Have a girl 14 and boy 9 so our kids might be too old but if you're interested in a meet up Im happy. I work weird shifts as a nurse and at uni at the moment and husband is a 9 - 5 guy. But he loves poker nights, meet up with a drink or two and days out. PM me if you're interested.
6. We have a set of friends here and their daughters have just gone back to UK. Although they loved it here with the climate they found they missed their friends and remaining family in UK. Also night life here is so much more expensive that they anticipated and they miss the club scene in Newcastle so I think this was a factor. That and one of the girls boyfriends was here for a while and he went back for his mum so one girl followed and so did the other.
7. Our story is good too. Been here 5 and 1/2 years now. Came out me hubby and 2 kids. Husband got a job after a week and I stayed home for a while and did a bit of casual work. Found it hard to get a job as a secretary but then decided to retrain as a nurse. Did a diploma course now on the last few weeks of bachelor course. Kids are doing well at school. One more than the other. One may have autistic tendencies so just trying to get that properly assessed. One paediatrician said it may have been because of the emigration when he was 3 that he is acting up now. We have a good life here though. We bought a house couple of years ago have the nice cars and pool so it would look like living the dream. It does have its great, good and bad times tho and you just go with it. We miss our family and friends in the UK but some have shown they are not the people we thought they were which is sad. On the whole tho we are happy and that's what matters.
8. Fast forward and Im still training believe it or not. I qualified with Tafe Diploma in nursing and now in last year of bachelor degree. Its been a long journey.
9. It looks to me like the white line reflecting off the road. Stop trying to knock money off they need money more than ever to go back. Typical poms honestly you get me mad
10. Hi everyone, not been on here for a while but wondered if anyone could help. I would like to bring my mum over on an aged parent visa and apply onshore. I have been reading up on this and keep seeing a condition of 8503 not being put on the visa and wondered what kind of visa my mum would need to come out on that would not have the 8503 condition normally attached to it. Can anyone help please? Then we are thinking of applying for onshore and getting bridging visa until application looked at some 15 years later. My mum would be ok as she would be living with us but we cannot afford to pay the $42k for contributory parent visa and mum has no money to fund this. Thanks Sam
11. I have this available if anyone wants it as we are going to break it up if no one wants. We shipped our 2 cats over from UK in this and it has a divider down the middle which can be removed. Also drink bowl and approved freight container for animals. PM me if you would like this item. We are Brisbane Northside Sam
12. I think that is if you have bought anything in the last year for which they may charge you GST.
13. Will suit 2 cats or small dog selling for $50 please PM if interested Thanks Sam
14. Hi my sister and brother in law are coming to visit us in Brisbane and want to go to Sydney for new year from 28 - 3 Jan. They have to go there as their flight is from there and cannot change it and need accommodation. They are willing and happy to pay for someone to put them up for 6 nights room only and they would be out most of time sight seeing. Could anyone put them up for a few nights? We've searched different accommodation but is coming up at 2k for a few nights and need cheaper options around $400 mark for 6 nights, is this realistic. They are happy to stay in someone's spare room. Any ideas anyone? They are early 30's no kids and good honest people. Thank you.
15. Hi Kev So sorry to hear that you are leaving the forum. Your help and advice has been very much appreciated. Sam & Martyn
16. Thank you all I'm looking forward to it
17. Hi Gill Do you mind if I ask you when we are about to start the application if you know if anything has changed? Sam
18. Thank you will read up on the forms you mentioned. Are things likely to change next year do you know apart from the limit being reduced? I'm a terrible worrier I must try to stop. I did have one other query in that my husband tax return for this year was about $20k as only worked from March to end of tax year for the return so not sure if this will be a problem for the $40k income threshold for last 2 tax returns if he provides the AoS. ~Thank you again youre brill Gill x
19. Hi mum can only come for 3 months as she lives in a council bungalow in UK and the council will only permit her to leave the accommodation for 3 months otherwise she's in breach of the conditions of the council housing tenancy. I was trying to find out the answers so that I can let her know whether its possible for her to come out and stay but still not sure what tourist visa she would need to come out on as it has to have a no further stay condition attached to it apparently. I want to do the application myself as its more or less straightforward but I dont have a copy of my fathers death certificate and neither does my mum but can find this out and obtain one. Thank you you've been very helpful. x Sam
20. Hi Gill thank you. My mum is coming out in October this year until January but she's never visited before. We always chatted about contributory parent visa prior to our leaving and since being here and now realise dont have a spare $40k so started looking into other possible routes. I've talked to mum about giving up her friends and lifestyle and she is so lonely now we have gone that she said she'd live on the moon if she could be with us. If she came here she would live with us and we would take her out and about with us and she would meet our friends and I'd take her to church to meet people and try to enrol her in some class that she would enjoy. She misses our 2 children terribly as well. My mum is 65 next week and has been on her own for years. My father died when I was young, she was never married to him but changed her name by deed poll to take on his name. She is happy to take out private health insurance here also. Would I be able to submit an application online or is it a case of couriering it to the parent visa centre in Perth? I'm not sure which form it is for the onshore parent visa as want to get it right if do it myself and also re the assurance of support when is that paid? ie at the beginning or end of the process as got to save up. Also who should be the sponsor me or my husband as I'm home at the moment with my little boy and so have no income myself. My husband meets the income threshold for sponsorship.
21. Am based in Qld and would like to find out the information to apply to bring my mum over to live with us next year. We have only been here 6 months at the moment but by the time we apply will have been here 1 1/2 years. I've had an initial chat with a migration agent and she said she cannot advise further unless I instruct her formally. Here is my dilemma: can my mum come over as if on holiday and then lodge an application onshore for an aged parent visa (non contributory) and remain here until and if the visa is granted some 7 - 10 years down the line and that a bridging visa will automatically be granted as part of the initial application. Also the DIAC website makes mention of an assurance of support bond being payable which I think may be $5,000 (?) does this need to be paid at the time of my mums entry to Australia next year or when and if the visa is granted years down the line? Also apparently the tourist visa she comes on needs to have certain conditions attached in order to then apply for an onshore parent visa, not sure which tourist visa this should be? Thanks and hope someone can help further as the mind is boggling.

23.

Had to do it as 2 sep messages as too long! Ramble or what

Have you heard anything about visa? agent said it takes 4 - 6 weeks of processing in Sydney. We're at 4 weeks already. Thinking of leaving our car loan because not worth what we owe and dont want to dip into bit money we have so we'll have to run off together! Do you think you will go before October?

I know what you mean about age of animals. Stress will probably do his ticker in. Ours are 9 so bit younger but to be honest if it wasnt for Katie would try and find a good home. Saying that though we have already asked around and it was "silence" you know what I mean when they pretend as if they not heard. I've been looking at rentals and schools. Thought about staying with Cal & Gary but they want £500 a week! Also emailed a rental agent but they not emailed back. Speak soon xx
