  1. You can read my timeline, we front loaded and was granted our visa pretty quickly after. We just spaced it out a bit...
  2. That's more people checking their ancestry and gaining Irish passports then. Not just for Brexit!
  3. AITSL still give me nightmares and I've lived here 3 years tomorrow! I've read here before that people haven't got transcripts and try to apply without them. Don't you'll be rejected. If you are at an ITT or SCITT currently ask them about your transcript and whether they in partnership with the University provide them. I had to fight for mine as my Uni was reluctant to create one. AITSL won't accept a transcript from a training provider as a University has academic rigour. (Unless this has all changed in three years!)
  4. Ah ok makes sense. Yes I agree they do earn their money, I'm in the pay medical staff more category!
  5. I presume nursing is based on nurses working part time? They earn a lot more than that full time!
  6. I think she has now asked. The happy/unhappy couple were seeking visa advice from a reputable agent... Another reminder of the perils of temporary work visas I guess!
  7. Really? The only cheering I did was becoming wealthy and making my sister suffer as a consequence! There was no 'we are all in this together...'
  8. What type of sentence do you need to serve to have your visa cancelled?
  9. I was only looking at invites yesterday and there has been none at 65 for a little while now. 70 seems to be key to get moving up the list. Good luck guys!
  10. I'll have to ask her about her registrations, but I think it's just APHRA. She got offered the job, told she'd be starting in three weeks, contract to follow and that she would need to get released from her job in NSW. With limited time she resigned to give as much notice as possible. But after a few days there was no contract, so she began inquiring. From what I can gather the lady had no authority to offer a position which required sponsorship, as it goes through a board process. The official line is 'sorry there must have been a communication breakdown somewhere.'

    Dyslexia

I worked as a SENCO in the UK and now have the same position in a WA school. Support can be provided for students, it would be limited and you couldn't expect one to one support as dyslexia doesn't bring in funding. This is no different to the UK I might add, I'd be very surprised if your daughter had an TA in every lesson at a secondary school unless there was a child/children with higher needs and ultimately provided funding. I would say that UK schools are a little more advanced with their knowledge of dyslexia and how to support students, perhaps due to the fear of OFSTED analysing their data! The key to dyslexia support is understanding what it is and using strategies in the classroom which accommodate all students. Extra time will be provided in exams like the UK. Good schools in Australia will support your daughter. Bring this up at the enrolment interview etc. I would certainly do your research on schools, it sounds like you have already done this for her secondary school in the UK so why wouldn't you?
  12. Look at an equivalent qualification by level Cert 2, 3 or 4 over here and request Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). You would need to prove prior knowledge and qualifications. The link below shows similar type of courses... https://www.southmetrotafe.wa.edu.au/courses/industries/education-and-community-services
  13. Yes it's quite a sad situation now! Her job was regional NSW and they were great with her. She found it pretty exciting at first but it really is remote and it loses it's appeal after a while I guess. They've been keeping their relationship long distance for a while now, she was hoping she had found a dream job and that looks like it is being taken away from her now.
  14. Who has fallen in love and his girlfriend is/was on a sponsored regional visa with an employer. A new employer was found in WA so they could be together. She now has 60 days to sort an employer out as the employer are suggesting they can't sponsor after all. My friend is PR and is understandably distressed about this but understands the laws of the land as he once went through the process himself. She is a nurse and will look at PR herself. However with 60 days it's not going to happen. Would she be able to get a bridging visa? She has already had her qualifications recognised and has some experience (less than a year) of nursing in Australia. Incidentally my friend is also a member of Pomsinoz!! Now that's another story!
  15. I heard every state now has a hit squad... people disappearing...
  16. Walk around and talk to peopled in shops/bars. People do advertise within their businesses for staff.
  17. People get Australian driving licences on Working Holiday Visas so I don't see why not! A friend of mine was planning to travel around Australia and found that getting a licence reduced his insurance premium. That was in NT some ten years ago though...
  18. @Suziedoll Come to WA, we are always looking for good teachers! If you go north or south of Perth there is work.
  19. It seems to be the most popular occupation in Australia! We have many Phys Ed qualified teachers who are sharing a little Phys Ed but are teaching science. As you teach at a six form college what age range did you train in?
  20. I was convinced it would be the best place to live. I did visit but it only confirmed what I thought! Always lots of factors to consider including timing, job prospects, funds, family ties, flexibility, personalities etc...
  21. I still only know of one family that have gone back. This was due to being on the dreaded 457 visa and it all going wrong, therefore not their choice. I thought one other family were heading back to the UK but they went back for a holiday and changed their minds completely! We all have our views...
  22. Enjoy your trip, it's changed in the couple of years that I have been here so you'll see big changes!
