Irishgirl1
Well I haven't given much advice, but I have had 8 cousins come on WHV and most were lucky to stay and get 457 visa's and the Citizenship All I will say Stacey is this they all loved Byron Bay/Cairns they all said if you get stuck in Sydney it is hard to leave they all loved Melbourne, it is another City and I don't care what anyone says it is a fantastic city so much vibe, Southbank is amazing and lots of little quirky laneways Perth was lovely a bit quiet for them at their age all mid 20's that was 5 years ago so things have changed they all loved the Margaret River area My Cousin who is a specialist education assistant in a Secondary School in Dublin has June/July and August of for their Summer Holidays, her Partner quit his job to come with her to Oz for 12 weeks so they could get a feel to see if they wanted to do a WHV, they did that tour I think you mentioned from Sydney to Cairns and said it was amazing but to be honest there were some not so nice accommodation but they said the people they met and the experience was UNREAL. My Cousing was in Melbourne for 5 years and just moved back home to get married and see how things go, he met an Irish girl here lol My other Cousin and her partner have been in Darwin for 5 years now have a little girl and have no plans to go anywhere and the rest settled in Adelaide All I Know is Dome has become quiet in Perth, but if you need somewhere to stay I can help you with that and show you around a bit. That HELPX looks great, but I just want you to feel comfortable and enjoy your stay, in my opinion you are very brave I could never have done what you have done, keep going we are all here for you I might just come see you in Melbourne if you stay lol xxxxx
ali
I think the problem about asking advice on PIO Stacey is that you'll get it from all of us and probably end up even more confused. I think you're doing the right thing in trying to narrow down your choices yourself and then asking about those areas in particular.

amibovered
Well he's going to LOVE you if you choose his city to SYDNEY! But but but.. there's no beaches in Melbourne??? ...And then a bit further around the coast to Adelaide which is REALLY Australia's best kept secret. (Don't worry we only put the bogans at the entrance to scare people off). There are miles and miles of beaches in Melbourne.
bell123321
Do you have a type of place in mind? Maybe people can suggest places based on what you like/don't like?its still early days and probably still slightly over whelming. On the plus side loads of people on here have knowledge they can share if you need it.

Quokka2005
I just want to go to sleep for a few days and then wake up with a plan haha. I wish I could be carefree like everyone else is, they are just heading up the coast and if they run out of money they don't really care. Im different, got to over think everything lol. Someone asked about the girls leaving - yeah they've only been here as long as I have. Well 2 days longer on their stopover in HK but that's it

Marisawright
I did think about Brisbane because I know there's loads of cafes but maybe a bit too humid. I did cope with Singapore much better than I thought I would but I guess I was only there a few days. I'm online looking at different areas that I might like that's more likely to have hospitality jobs Singapore's humidity is MUCH worse than Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast, so if you managed in Singapore you'd be fine in Southern Queensland IMO. I haven't spent much time further north than Noosa so can't comment on Far North Queensland, I could imagine that could get bad. If you go to seek.com.au and do a search, you don't have to enter a city or suburb - then it will give you "all Australia". Once you've got the results, there's a bar down the left hand side where you can narrow it down by ticking "temporary/vacation". I got a long list of jobs doing that - here's an interesting one: http://www.seek.com.au/job/29882716 You can also select areas in the "Location" section of that side bar - for instance, you might want to try selecting "NSW Regional" or "Victoria Regional" so you get jobs outside the capital cities. skippy79
don't worry about work, there is plenty of casual work around for backpackers, so many cafes/coffeshops that will be looking for staff from now until the end of the school holidays. Either go to melbourne or anywhere up to the sunshine coast.. Just have fun and enjoy everything!!!!
Jhouse101
If it was a choice between Melbourne or Parramatta it would be Melbourne every day! The only good thing about out west is the cheap beer (3 schooners in Bligh Park on Friday was $12!) Just go and do what you want - i'm actually a tad jealous as i wish i didn't settle straight into work - i'll do my travelling on the way back to the UK though!
