So a city break, beach or other?Someone via work (NHS)advertised on our work community online board an apartment just outside Mercia (Spain)Looked really really nice, modern with comm pool and the beach was across the road.20 min walking distance to restuarants and what not.£25 per night(not each, per couple!!!!)I am on holiday this week but if you're interested,I am back to work next Mon and can access my work emails.(We might head over there ourselves in Sept,I'm looking for a cheap getaway as we have a long haul in Nov and i think this sounded ideal for us)

Italy - you could go to rome for a night or two and then somewhere else in italy. Rome probably isnt what you call cheap but if you went to supermarkets etc instead of touristy food places. Plus its worth it! Lots of nice places to go.

Or a week in portugal? Or what about germany or poland, not sure about prices in germany but polands meant to still be cheap

My favourites are Malta (especially Gozo) Portugal (Lisbon hard to beat and environs) North Portugal (Nazare, is good) Some of the Greek Islands. I hear Turkey is great, but yet to get there.

Or, if you want an urban party scene, in a great grunge type environment Berlin is your place. Amsterdam used to be really cool but not been there for a long time. Really spoilt for choice.

Have you ever been to Rome? It was so amazing there I had to go back again a few months later!

The next place on my list is Naples, Italy is a seriously underrated country in my opinion. Possibly because they don't want too many Brits going there!

PNG?

For those that like camping out in exotic climes. Take industrial mosquito repellent and get all your jabs. Be sure to get the hardest malaria preventive medication and try to ignore the side effects. These may consist of losing hair, extreme fatigue, nightmares, mental health issues, unable to keep down food, talking of food only eat what you can peel, avoid salads, keep a wide breath of sea food and be wary of the meat. Remember not to drink the water, clean your teeth in it and never swallow.

Don't go out at night much too dangerous but an armed escort should be adequate in daylight hours.

Besides those few simple things to remember, definitely put it at the top of the list. No need even to bring your own tent. You'll experience different cultures and when you feel the excitement is too much to bare they (Aussie taxpayer)may even fly you home for ziltch. You won't get a deal to beat that. Leave Benidorm to the kiddies....be different .

ooo well rome and eastern europe seems to be the main ideas, have checked out Rome (never been) and not so bad on price actually. Will check out prague/croatia, never thought of those areas and also never been there..............camping ermmm have been before and must say i like my comforts, i brought memories of me having a shower in a little caravan we borrowed and hooked up. as im tall im in shower thinking ooo this not bad had to open the bubble plastic roof thing for air and a little extra head room. Not realising i can see out so obviously others can see my foamed up head. Then dam im in that long water runs out, i thought it didnt do that, only then stood there (in shower) while other half at the time goes walking of across field with a water container to fill up again lol, getting cold. But then had to still wait while it heated up.....not happy lol...........camping i shall give a miss it doesnt deserve the name of glamping lol.........just cant do it hahaha...........................thanks everyone for replies, i appreciate it x
