he is married on a 489 visa wife is leaving and returning to uk. however he is not main applicant on visa. can he stay or does he have to apply for visa in own right. he does not have skill and working in a retail store and thinks she will cancel visa. they have been in Australia not yet a year. ty

Thank you for all the words of support. i think its familiarity here at home im struggling with,my family i know will visit regular my dad within 3 months lol. plus offered promotion at work the week i put my notice in argh lol. As well as people saying why....and dont go.....and a man lol however, though i put notice in they are giving me sabbatical leave for 2 years and i never asked for it........so all doors not closed . I am positive about going i am looking forward to it and as a few said on here .....its an adventure that planes go both ways. But yes its a huge thing to do so wobbles are natural....right toughen up now Thank you again xx

2 years of excitement to get to this point. fly out 9th jan to adelaide in temporary accommodation for 3 weeks. Start of a new life.............but now im doubting going awwwwwww so scared and nervous. Never thought i would be. anyone else felt like this.

Moving to Adelaide in January read in the past about opening account from uk ready for arrival, is this right and how do you do? Also i obviously have no address there how do you get past this issue? And finally which bank for basic bank account with debit card? Thankyou

Mine was granted nearly 2 weeks ago, they have given me till feb 17th 2015 to activate....hope that helps xx

ty, just confused as grant was 8 oct 2015 i have to activate visa before 17 feb 2015,i always thought a year from when meds and or pcc done. Thisisnot the case as they were donein August 2014............hence why im confused. However not an issue as planning to go in Jan. Just thought would also be a bit of useful info for people, as things regarding entry looks like its changed Excited though .............thank you x

Finally, my visa is granted a 489, feelings all over the place and nerves kicking in but.....excited eeeekkkkkk I dont know why but interested to know why i only have till mid feb 2015 to activate visa. Hi i uploaded all documents requested via IMMI over 6 weeks ago, including PCC medicals and extra document all show as received as of 6 weeks ago,medicals show as finalised. Today i receive an email firstly from a different case officer to what was allocated and secondly to ask i send outstanding documents via email :confused: no note as to what documents. I sent all docs again as per original email. Anyone else come across this, i am a little concerned that docs are shown as received and nothing showing as outstanding and dont want an unnecessary delay. i have applied for 489 and now into 5th month of waiting Thanks

Hi pumpkin , yes everything uploaded all show as received, meds showing as finalised. I will ignore it, nothing else i can do about it i guess as its not really asking for anything or providing info..............the wait continues pfft. Hi, need some help if you can, I have applied for 489 myself without any agents input, however i have noticed a change on immi and not sure what it means or if i need to do anything. It states............ADMIN FORMS DOCUMENTS.....CLIENT......DATE and underneath no attachments available! What is this for? is there anything i need to upload there.......i have uploaded all information requested and shows as received. Medicals are showing as finalised for this applicant to. Thank you in advance Oh anyone got an idea on how much longer i need to wait its been 3.5 months now Tina

Thanks for finding that out for me. Yes arriving mid jan allows me another couple of weeks to get essentials done and hopefully allows for everything to return to normal. i really dont want to wait much longer, i just want to move on now eeek excited. i have even provisionally booked accommodation for 3 weeks on arrival with options to amend arrival dates and pay on arrival. was more than half less than arriving in december did not want to lose that one lol. i was shocked! i expect delays in things and nothing to land in my lap but your advice has been invaluable and much appreciated and has allowed me to make a little wiser choices xx

thank you to everyone for your replies, yes after much research on initial accommodation over xmas and new year prices sky rocket. Alot of good points made and whilst i don't have an overflowing money pot, i think wise not to arrive December.Unfortunately i cant do prior to November as was 1 suggestion as tieing up loose ends is taking time. The weather i don't mind but of course will be a shock after leaving uk. However i have now decided it will be mid Jan around the 12th,i have looked up multi flights and planning to spend time in Dubai and peshawer seeing and visiting some very close friends/family. Due to time of year not to much more in cost actually, so hopefully shall miss the majority of the slowdown as well as giving myself a few days to prepare for the rush of sorting out home and job. On the plus side it allows me a few extra weeks nursing with an agency prior to departure and earn that extra much needed money and get to see my dad over xmas prior to now planned departure of 29/30 December. its took this long so whats an extra 6-8 weeks! but............i have no patience to wait for anything lol, but im learning after this process!

Ty for reply MaryRose, i am in nursing so hopefully not as quiet on recruitment and if anything like the UK needing staff at that time of year, even agency (my thinking anyway) ooooo i hope it does not take till Feb to get sorted but hey ho if it does. As for xmas, well me and my family have had it in mind i wont be here this xmas and made most of it last year with few nights in London over new year together. If im here i will be working at that time as they gave me of last year and daughter with her father so i dont mind a quiet xmas just want to get plans into action now....so near yet still so far! ty

Applied for 489 visa mid may, have a case officer and meds etc uploaded just awaiting final decision on grant,so hopefully not long now. I have decided to quit work as soon as i have confirmation so i can work for an agency flat out and earn more than double to help with funds. I am hoping if i get an answer soon, to make the move mid November to SA. Does anyone see any problems moving out at that time regarding rentals or jobs. I know close to xmas, but hoping as not in December i might get sorted prior to it going a little quiet over holiday season. Or subsequently if to late for that option due to visa grant thinking very end of year as flights im presuming are cheaper, then gives me still 2 weeks to have a good feel for the place before things return to normal mid Jan. whilst its a good thread to provide information for other Pakistanis as you often face more security scrutiny and wait is longer......it is rather strange the comment you make that Pakistanis in general have not made a good impression. why you say that for? i have spoken with a few and they are nothing but polite and informative individuals as most on here and all have the same focus......to get to AUS really bizarre your comment, and im sure many Pakistanis would agree!

I dont see where i have wrote thanks for the "happy replys" i have actually thanked everyone for there valid points which they are! However as many have also said depending on individual circumstance, i also think any move is a risk. If in the UK you move for jobs people are made redundant, house prices plummet, living expenses have increased. The only thing that stays the same is your extended family support. Notice i say extended, as many relationships sour and divorce often follows!......thats if staying in the UK. Now other than the cost to move and searching for jobs and accommodation which is also difficult, and some time of being unsettled what really is the difference? I know i for one is prepared for a bumpy ride. But......im also not prepared to sit here waiting for the reversal in aforementioned. Life is to short,i would rather go with less money, the risk,challenge and excitement of beginning my new life.As oppose to sitting for 10 years waiting till i paid my mortgage of and money in the bank.Something i COULD achieve there over time also. Now im happy to read all posts positive and not so, as all have helped me evaluate the "RISK" . Its the ones that are sarcastic by those that have not attempted or have even truly tried to emigrate to OZ, that i dont get much from......but have still read them as they have taken time to respond......EVEN YOURS......so Ty.... Good luck for your move .....10 years down the line i think you said.....make sure you pop on here for advice when the time is right for you .TC x
