  1. It's beyond belief just how behind Australia is in the vaccination process. Really beyond belief. It's like they don't want international borders and trade open. I cannot think of ONE reason why Australia wants to keep borders closed, with Tourism and Education being such an important aspect of the Australian economic output. The Aussie Vaccine Disaster in detail -> https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-05-28/untangling-australia-s-covid-vaccine-rollout-timetable/100156720
  2. Indeed, why live in an ex penal colony, when you could live in an ex roman province. Why go to Australia anyway, sounds like you'd rather just be in Britain? Can get a tourist VISA mate.
  3. Got my first vaccine dose in Russia two weeks ago! Another week before the next dose! Good to see the light at the end of the tunnel! Our July 12th is locked in! Fingers crossed lol.
  4. IMMI specifically states not to buy flights before your VISA has been granted, because, as mentioned above, there are no guarantees when a VISA will be granted.
  5. Wow! I've seen 3-4 month processing time applications and was absolutely blow away, ours was 9 months. How long was the processing time for that? Do you have the conversation link to the thread?
  6. Everyone has their own unique story. There's no one definite way and answer to complex social interactions. The best thing I have found is to listen and discuss things with your partner as a team. Being mindful and vigilant of situations and interactions, conflict resolution and stepping back, take a breath and think things through when they get difficult. Good luck and have fun in your journey!
  7. Any news Mitho. It sounds like you have been waiting a very long time. How many months now? Do you have an IMMI account you can check?
  8. Lol, second hand dealers flipping out when you threaten to end the deal at the last minute... I feel bad for them, but that's the game.
  9. I think people are being overly reactive. The entire coronavirus situation in very dynamic. The government is correct in saying border will be open by mid 2022, because by then, they are guaranteed to be right, especially given the rate of vaccination around the world. However, the fact that the US and UK are going to be done Vaccinating by August this year, and Australia will have a lot of it's population vaccinated by the end of the year. The reality of what will happen could look quite different. The article also doesn't make sense. Why would someone move back to the UK to get the grand kids growing up with family, when in 1.5 years the borders will open anyway, just seems like a whinge fest fluff piece.
  10. All the info is here. You can't do anything until it's 3 months before the arrival date. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/departmental-forms/online-forms/travel-facilitation-letter-request-form
  11. We've book with Etihad for July in Melbourne. So far so good... Fingers crossed we finally make it back. I actually booked both a Qatar and Etihad flight just in case
  12. Yeah I expected it to be so. But generally speaking, there is a common sense approach, something like being caught smoking weed when you are 19, vs violent burglary with jail time. Has there been anyone you know who has had a VISA granted with a criminal conviction for domestic abuse?
  13. Fascinating! Surprised you got a criminal conviction for it. It is indeed a criminal offence in Australia. If you hide this fact from your application it will more likely you will have it rejected than if you admit it, supply the evidence of the charge and explain what happened and apologies. It is a summary offence in NSW.
  14. Things like a drug conviction would likely be ok, DUI something like. If it's theft of property or similar it will be very tough. If it's related to domestic violence, armed robbery or similar, then likely you can forget about it. But there's no harm in trying to prove your case.
  15. The most cost effective airline is definitely Qatar. They can rebook on any flight to another day with no price differences. Etihad stuffed us around even on a business flight, cancelling their low cost options and removing ALL flights that were booked with that option, simply changing the time of the departure and arrival, forcing everyone who bought a ticket to have to upgrade. Fortunately we were able to rebook our Qatar tickets before we were fully refunded.
  16. It is definitely possible, however each case is different. In our case, it was better to stay overseas so my wife could work and we could go through IVF in our location. We actually had our VISA granted far earlier than expected, which is great. However due to COVID we haven't been able to get a flight to Australia till June/July. Our April and May flights were cancelled and far too expensive to rebook close to the date.
  17. Pfizer finally publicly announced their Covid cure pill. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9511975/Coronavirus-Pfizers-anti-Covid-pill-ready-year.html?fbclid=IwAR1LTIWUzmq1RjoOpCRA_q0WwgupmJ1CfuyV9JsaNfBnrN_dq6eFKH1eCEA
  18. @Greystones @Dizeee It's important to understand that you can only apply for the request to push back your arrival date if you think you cannot travel 3 months before the arrival date. This doesn't apply to April 2022. QUOTE: Are you a permanent or provisional family visa holder and want to travel to Australia but the Initial Entry Date (first entry date) specified on your visa grant letter has passed or will pass within the next 3 months?
  19. I think it's more time consuming really than difficult. We spent a lot of time collating photos, receipts, writing our story, putting things together, checking documents, reviewing e-mails and getting things into PDF files. Lastly, you want to double check your application form. One of the most time consuming things was getting EVERYTHING translated and notarised by a Russian translation agency. Then SCANNING EVERYTHING! It took me 6 hours just to scan all the application forms and translated documents. Finally we had an agent simply manage and check over everything. Then lastly there was the police checks and medical tests. The best thing is, to write up a checklist and slowly work through things day by day. We did ours when the pandemic lockdowns in Russia happened, worked through everything little by little, and after a month, we had everything prepared, then a few weeks later, our agent had reviewed things, we were asked a few questions, then paid the application fee. A few months later I had forgotten to submit police checks because I thought they were optional, but read they were required, fortunately I requested these about a month before our RFI, which was just so lucky, because the Russian police check took 40 days. So I got it all in time and our 309 VISA was granted end of last year! Except getting back to Australia now is just a headache.
  20. Most other people have already answered the original question. But I do want to add, that Australia offers Public Health Service IVF for around $1500 AUD a cycle. It's one of the most cost effective options world wide, and as effective as private practice IVF. So you could do another round here in Australia if you feel you have the energy and desire for it, if cost is your only major hurdle.
  21. You have 28 days to submit all of the evidence of your relationship and supporting documents. Generally you want to "front load" your application, which means having everything ready and prepared. At this stage, unless you are 100% clear on everything you need to supply and have it pretty much sorted out, get in touch with a Registered Migration Agent ASAP. They will look over the application and get everything together. Yes, you will need the Police Checks, apply for one now and just submit it when you get it. As @Marisawright wrote, you'll need a hand from a professional to buy you some time.
  22. So now it looks like Qatar, Singapore and now Etihad are flying to Melbourne.
  23. Yeah, the airline executives know before hand government plans before they make them public.
