  1. Admin please feel free to delete if not allowed. We have in the last couple of days moved to Brisbane from the UK after about 18 months of planning and 10 years of considering. We are still very much in the midst of the process so do not profess to be experts by any stretch but often throughout was looking for young families in a similar situation to us to follow their journey as we knew literally zilch about Brisbane. To that end, and mainly for the benefit of our friends and family back home, we have set up an Instagram page documenting our journey as we go. If it proves helpful or interesting to you, feel feel to give it a follow @theholdsworthsdownunder is the Instagram handle.
  2. I am beyond devastated. We shipped with PSS two weeks ago and today I have received an email, as the entire contents of our home are sailing off the coast of Egypt, advising of a rate increase and a request to pay an additional £2k within seven days. Has anyone had anything similar happen? This will bring our total to £6.5k which I am not sure we would have paid had we known in advance. Really not sure what our options are. So so gutted!
  3. Anyone been granted 309/100 recently? Feels like everything has gone quiet after a flurry of activity earlier this year. Not complaining mind as the state Australia is in with constant lockdowns, need the vaccination programs to progress a bit more before we would be keen to make the leap.
  4. Hi everyone, We applied in March for my husbands 309/100 visa. Today we received an RFI and I am driving myself crazy with every day trying to second guess the approval process and its timescales! In people experiences, once you receive an RFI does this signal you are approaching a decision point or can it often go on for a lot longer after information has been provided? When we applied, it seemed to be around a period when things were moving very quickly and lots of people were getting their approvals in unprecedented time scales but it just may be my perception, but things seem to have slowed again a bit. As I say I aware I am torturing myself with it all but just keen to understand other people’s experiences. Many thanks in advance.
  5. Hi all, thought i would add my details as we have this morning got our approvals through for our two little boys. DOL - 11 March 2021 RFI - 11 May 2021 Approved - 12 May 2021 2 down, just my husbands 309/100 to go and we are off!
  6. So it sounds like move cube may not be the best option for us as we have furniture we would like to take. Does anyone have any other recommendations for companies and could give an indication as to what sort of costs were involved? Thanks so much. These forums are proving invaluable in our preps!
  7. Hi all. Looking for some insight into move cubes. We have a three bedroom house we are looking to transport the contents of from the Uk to Brisbane. One the seven seas website, it seems to suggest that 1 large move cube is all that is required for a house of that size, however the picture of the box has me confused as to whether this is actually possible as it looks a little on the small side? Has anyone shipped a three bedroom house with seven seas and if so how many move cubes did you do it with? Many thanks in advance!
  8. Thank you. Yes absolutely get that (there wasn’t any documents on there at all at this point) We lodged the first part on 24th and were in the process of getting the documents together when we received the RFI on 25th (the next day). We were of the belief we had longer to sort before a case advisor was assigned. Our dilemma is does the request for documents include the police and medical check at this point? Or will this come in a further s56?
  9. Hi there @paulhand it was a s56 request for more information.
  10. Hi everybody. Hope you are all well and are progressing well through the stages! I am an Australian and have been living in the Uk for the last 12 years. We have recently decided that life or us is back in the UK and have started the process for my husband (Uk citizen applying for 309/100) and our 2 kids (who are applying for citizenship by decent). We lodged our initial application on 24th March and then were in the process of collating the requested documents for upload as a part of the next stage. We then received a request for more information from what appeared to be a case advisor on the 25th. Our questions are, 1) does this notification happen instantly or does this mean a case advisor has been assigned to us (status has also changed from submitted to intital assessment) and 2) would this be the point at which we will need to arrange for medical and police checks or with this come in the form of a specific request for information? Just conscious of their 12 month validity so don’t really want to have to undertake twice! We had prepared ourselves for a long process so can’t quite believe that would have already received a request for information. Thanks in advance for any advice for two complete novices!
