  1. Thanks for the reply! Hopefully I will be able to start jobhunting straight away then
  2. Hello all QQ - I will shortly be applying for a Partner Visa onshore in Australia. I am here on a tourist visa for 3 months. When do you receive the bridging visa? I know it doesn't kick in until the tourist visa has expired but I am really keen to get back to work so just wonder when I will have these details so I can start applying for jobs. Thanks WW x
  3. the person we were dealing with appears to have disappeared so we are now considering submitting ourselves..
  4. hello all Has anybody applied for a Partner Visa offshore without being financially tied together or having lived together. We have always lived separately as we met in 2018 and our plans were put on hold due to COVID. We have our relationship registered by NSW government and bags of evidence to prove we are in a relationship just hoping that is enough. Thanks in advance
  5. We have decided to apply off shore as the travel exemption on a visitor visa could be a continuous waste of time if keeps getting rejected and applications hopefully are moving quicker for Partner visas.
  6. Wow, that's so good. So would you advise to put the Partner application in from here rather than apply for the travel exemption? (and then apply onshore). Thank you for all your help. I
  7. the problem is then, if I did get the exemption I wouldn't be able to work until the visa was granted (opposed to applying onshore which is supposedly moving quicker). Although I am not sure if anybody is getting the exemptions granted, we were advised it would defo take at least 3 attempts +
  8. Hi all Looking for some advice please. My partner is in Australia and I am in London, we have just put together our application for the 309 after having our de facto registration granted from NSW. However, we have since been advised to try to get a travel exemption and then apply onshore as partner visas from London are taking 2 years! Can anyone offer any advice? We've been together since 2018 but I haven't now seen him due to COVID since November 2019. Thank you
  9. Hi everyone Bit of background.... My partner who is in Sydney and I (based in London), just had our relationship registered and certificate granted by NSW government so we are officially in a 'de facto' relationship even though 11,000 miles apart. It took almost 3 months to come through, we both had to get documents proof signed by legal counsel, had to have all of our Identification documents approved and verified, and paid a small fee. However, our immigration lawyer thinks this will speed up the process when we submit our 309 application. We are now in a strong position to submit the visa application so I will keep you posted on the journey. We have been advised that that this kind of certificate makes us as good as married. We have been apart for 16 months now so really hoping this speeds up the process as the time apart is unbearable. We should hopefully be submitting final visa application next week which is exciting. I'm curious if anybody else has gone down this route, and waited for this relationship registration certificate from NSW government (or similar) before even applying for 309 Visa? I was super conscious of waiting for this to come through before even applying for the visa and then facing another wait. (this took 3 months and then the prospect of waiting another 18 months is extremely daunting!) I'm obviously confident in our immigration lawyer but also, I guess, somewhat impatient as otherwise it feels like a wasted 3 months waiting for this certificate to come through before even submitting visa application! Background on us, we have known each other for 10 years, been together officially for 3 years doing long distance and by the time we decided I would move Covid hit so have been apart every since. We were lucky in that I had visited 3 times in 6 months, but then my partners trip to the UK was cancelled and then we were both completely grounded. I work for an Australian company based in the UK and I have lived in Australia for 2 years previously so in a good position to relocate and be with my love finally! Very testing times, but nothing worth having was ever easy! wishing y'all love and luck xxx
  10. Hi @Bobby Jindal 4 months is an amazing turnaround! congrats! May I ask what your situation is? I am about to apply from the UK too Thanks
  11. Hello all I am also applying from the UK - does any one have experience doing this recently and have an idea on timeframe? Thanks
  12. wow that is an amazing turn around for visa grant! do you mind if I ask what your situation is? I am about to apply from the UK to join partner in Australia.
  13. Thank you - wow I can't believe he didn't mention this. I wonder now if I could apply for a tourist visa exemption and get married over there once possible.
  14. I spoke to an agent who suggested the prospective marriage visa - he said it can go through as quick as 9 months if you have strong supporting documents. However it says online 22 months. Does any one have any experience of it going through as quickly? Or is he trying to get us to sign ASAP lol if it takes 22 months I am not sure whether it is worth trying to hold out for an opportunity to get married and then apply for the partner visa allowing a bridging visa upon application
