  1. It seems they limit me to one update a week and last was on the 28th April. Shame there is no move ?
  2. Hi there, Do you know what to assessing date was for the 864 as I'm not getting an update on the email at the moment? Thanks ?
  3. Thanks both - I managed to do via Immi Account - it's been so long I'd forgotten about that one ;-)
  4. We have just had one of our children's British passports renewed, and it occurred there are probably some more actions required to ensure his 189 visa is connected. Any advice on who I need to tell / what I need to update? Thanks, Ferrets
  5. It might feel a bit like cheating, but a concern for me with travelling overseas for work was ending up on a different set of passports from my kids. A friend of my parents never took up his options (unclear if this is was citizenship), but had a medical incident when outside of Australia. That was it - gates shut and he was not allowed back. Extreme I know but enough of a concern for me to ensure we all are on the same documentation. Being British you would have the benefit of dual citizenship - so not need to rescind as many others do to take up your Australian citizenship.
  6. FWIW I think that as an Australian citizen with a Kiwi husband it must have been fairly obvious that such a move wasn't unexpected. It will still be difficult but not really a bolt out of the blue! Would they consider joining you on a parent visa if there is no other immediate family? My parents were pressured not to migrate many years ago due to one parent being an only child, and I think there is still a lot of regret that they didn't.
  7. First port of call would be to have an initial consultation with a MARA agent to make sure you have the best strategy identified - it is often free or low cost, especially in the overall context of migration so money well spent at the start of your journey! Good luck!
  8. For Vicky Point you could look back up the bay to Cleveland (end of railway line) and Wellington Point, if not up as far as Wynnum. Problem is the time into the centre of the city is quite high on public transport. I am a fan of Mount Gravatt as a start point (we stayed in Brisbane Holiday Village when we arrived, $80 a night for a family cabin with no bills), there is a Westfield and a super quick bus into the city ~19 mins to Southbank from memory. That might allow you to have a look around. Another thought is Kangaroo Point, over from the CBD but quick to get on the road south if you can avoid the traffic. But personally, if your work is in range of Mooloolaba I would be giving that a serious consideration, but that is my hobbies speaking ?
  9. As a check you do arrive to activate within 12 months of visa grant right? For me it's straight to duty free before the automatic passport gates and all pretty seamless
  10. Have an initial consultation with one of the MARA agents who post regularly on this site, in the wider scheme of migration any costs will be negligible.
  11. For accountants I believe they are also counting all state sponsorships to the ceiling
  12. Think that you are right as children must be normally resident for balance of family test https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/Trav/Brin/Pare/balance-of-family-test
  13. Hi Alan, Thanks for that, does this mean that per the calculator for all AoS started after 1/4/18 the income requirements is now $123,608 for an assurer who is married with 2 dependants? Thanks Ferrets
  14. Honestly best to speak to your agent for advice, I am only following links to the calculator at this point.
  15. Agree - the calculator is not very clear whether spouse and dependants should be included, but as I was not planning on being an assurer (brother is doing that), I hadn't checked this previously, only looking as links relating to increase have been posted.
  16. Hi Peter, Using the Centrelink calculator on an 864 visa I have the following (I find it odd that spouse and dependants are optional given they adjust the number so I am not clear if I have misunderstood the meaning of their inclusion); Assurer (no spouse or kids) Income requirement $88,291.41 must be the combined income of all assurers for this financial year. The same income must be earned for the past two financial years. If you don't have enough income you can seek help of another assurer. Bank Guarantee $14,000.00 is the bank guarantee you need to arrange if your application is approved. Assurer + Spouse Income requirement $117,721.88 must be the combined income of all assurers for this financial year. The same income must be earned for the past two financial years. If you don't have enough income you can seek help of another assurer. Bank Guarantee $14,000.00 is the bank guarantee you need to arrange if your application is approved. Assurer with Spouse + 2 kids Income requirement $123,607.98 must be the combined income of all assurers for this financial year. The same income must be earned for the past two financial years. If you don't have enough income you can seek help of another assurer. Bank Guarantee $14,000.00 is the bank guarantee you need to arrange if your application is approved.
  17. Almost everything will try and steer clear of you; snorkelling I saw a reef shark and not sure which of us tried to swim away quickest! To my knowledge the biggest exception to that rule of thumb would be saltwater crocodiles. Always stay out of their way.
  18. In 18 months have seen 2 snakes; a brown python in a tree by a bike path and then a sea snake in Noosa. Snakes weren't interested in me, I didn't poke them and we all went about our business. Hardest part is making sure my little kids know not to touch spiders!!
  19. It's odd how people react differently; we live on the bay also and have barely run the AC this past summer, and don't find any issue with humidity. I was in Singapore last week with work and the humidity there was stifling and couldn't cope with that so appreciate how it feels if it affects you. I didn't expect to acclimatise quickly but for us it seemed to work well as we have only been here 18 months and enjoying the heat - so much so that bigger emphasis is now on managing UV exposure (and irrelevant of how you feel about heat that is a must in QLD)
  20. A good call on the 1st VAC fee, had assumed it was minimal for 103 but realise that is about AUD $4k
  21. Hi Alan, For parents who are currently not able to commit to a CPV, does applying for a 103 represent an option to serve time on the queue in case of future commitment? I appreciate that rules change and visas can be scrapped but on the face of it seems an option. Many thanks!
  22. The point was they did go back and got torn a new one as a result. Sometimes migrating means you need to focus on your immediate family unit. My parents regret to this day that parental pressure prevented them from following their dream of migrating to Canada.
  23. Hi Magda, It is good if you can boost your points, but currently there are no invited for 189 and a 190 needs a minimum of 75+5, so as it stands 70/will be insufficient for an invite. There should be some clarity once DHA start inviting again for the 189, but no idea when that will happen. I'm also unsure if Polish qualifies for a community language, but if so there may be a possibility to add 5 points. Other options include partner poo he depending on your circumstances. Wishing you luck
