  1. Yes this is what I suspected! ?typical right! They renew after July 1st...
  2. It at least gives me peace that you both are waiting too so it's not just my application. Some guy on another forum has been waiting 6 months for an answer on his 189. Yeah that's a good point June/July grant I have a feeling we will more likely wait in the queue until the new tax year. Ooh that's a tricky one, I thought my situation was bad giving 3 months notice but you have to give a term. Wait and see in the next two weeks if you hear anything, if not probably best to wait until Christmas and go out mid summer ? something to look forward too!
  3. Yeah it's just a painful waiting game! I hate to see people "Woohoo visa granted after only 2 weeks from lodging..." It's such a stupid system! They haven't contacted my employer to verify my employment either so I think we're on the back burner. I'm just hoping to get it at this point, if I'm out there by Christmas I'll be happy! We just took a risk with the exchange rate as it's the highest in 12 months! We opened bank accounts online with Westpac based in London- so handy! Are you planning to wait for the visa before giving notice?
  4. Hey, I asked my employer for a reference in September although like you I didn't want too. It's so much more beneficial to get it. They may call your employer/company to verify your employment and if your boss didn't know before they will then. Best be honest, ask for it but say that your applying for a skills assessment for future application to emigrate. You can say that the process is very complex and can take 12-18 months to finalise. Good luck!
  5. Nothing and I've been keeping an eye. Nothing is moving no one is getting CO allocated or grants! We took advantage of the high exchange rate and transferred $26k over into our Aussie bank accounts though!
  6. I feel the same... Impatient and worrying it's been 10 weeks and I'm thinking what if somethings not right. It's hard to just forget about it when so much is hanging in the balance! I was hoping to leave July 1st but not looks like September at the earliest due to work commitments! These changes really delayed lots of applications id say.
  7. Congrats @DukeNinja that's great news! Even better that oh didn't need an X-ray. First I've heard of that where you headed?
  8. Hi guys, Just interested to know if anyone knows what "external checks" are done by immi. I've seen people reference that a lot when they've been waiting ages for a visa grant. Surely if you have a police check from that country then they should only need to verify that document is legit? Does immi contact everyone's employer to confirm experience? Immi hasn't contacted mine yet? Good to know if anyone has any insight? Keep my boredom at bay while I wait....
  9. Hi Stewjc, Would you not try and have your sponsorship taken over by a new employer or do you want to go home? Yes your employer is responsible for you while there but I think that goes for if you decided to stay unlawfully. Although you could ask, the least they could do is sort out your flights home.
  10. That's true VeryStormy, but I didn't know this when we front loaded. I've only ever heard good things about front loading to be honest but you are right. Isn't there a certain timescale that they have to finalize your case if for example your police check is running out shortly. I read somewhere that they need to give you at least 2 months to be able to activate the visa before it runs out. Whats the worst that can happen though, you apply for police check again? Medical would be a bummer though considering it's £300!
  11. Yes they did, I would definitely front load the form 80, medicals, and pcc's. We front loaded PCC'S & Medicals and I requested to front load the form 80's as I knew we'd be asked for it having lived in Oz for 2 years, NZ for a year and having 3 different PCC would be a case for more information. My agent said no, never give DIBP information they haven't asked for, as you could open up a can of worms and they want more considering the form 80 is intense. In my opinion my agent was being lazy. Of course they asked for it, 2 weeks later and now I am stuck in the queue. It's been 9 weeks since lodging and 7 weeks since request for further information. Tomorrow is Anzac day so I am hoping for some news by the end of the week Good luck with the process. Give them everything they need. I've seen people get a grant 2/3 weeks after submission as their files were complete with all info so they just needed to assess everything and finalize immediately.
  12. No they don't unfortunately but when it's computer based I feel its better as you can spot the mistake easier on the pc screen than you would written. Good luck! Be prepared to take it a couple of times if you need 79+ in each category for 20 points
  13. Your application was in before the changes, however it has not been granted so will be subject to the new requirements which means probably a longer wait time for extra scrutiny. Luckily your skill is still on the MTLSS list and you can still have the 4 years if your occupation would have been removed you would have to revoke the application. Sit it out and wait..
  14. Hi Alleycat, It's either 3 full months straight or 88 individual days. If you started 23rd of Feb you should finish the 23rd of May. The 88 days is only if you have a break in between let's say 1 week holiday in-between or one month travel.
  15. Wow congrats Jamie! That was quite quick! I'm trying my best to be patient but I've got serious anxiety and always fear the worst. I need to just let it play out but I can't help it! Good to hear others stories though. Where's everyone headed? We're off to Sydney, lived there in 2009 for six months and loved it. Hoping to settle in the Gold Coast though when we have some kiddies
  16. No advice but I agree this is very unfair. I'm so sorry for your loss. This is a really bad situation.
  17. I know I'm just extremely impatient. I have three months notice to hand into work and my tenancy agreement is up on the 16th of July do everything is so messy. you'll get a CO within 2 weeks and if you've uploaded the form 80, PCCS & medical you might even get a direct grant... What skill have you nominated?
  18. Not from me lodged 21/02 I was hoping today - 2 month mark. But no!
  19. Does it state the cautions in the police check? They will require more information I reckon and ask how your husband has changed his ways since then? I would of sent a disclosure with the info in it. I know the waiting is killing us off. I keep thinking why is it so long, others applied 2 weeks ago and got a direct grant and I feel so jealous when I shouldn't. I keep worrying we will get refused for something. Ugh.
  20. 55 points won't get you invited for 189 mate the threshold is 60. Can you get more English points?
  21. Your application will be refused based on the info you provided. You'll need to wait for the invitation to expire & re submit EOI. It doesn't matter that your points will be still above the threshold the info is incorrect. Good luck at least you realised now and not after submission where you'd loose your fee.
  22. Nope! it's the main applicant who's age matters!!
  23. Did you send through a stat declaration explaining the cautions? What were the arrests for? They usually wouldn't have an effect if there has been a good space of time in between and you were honest about it all. I submitted all docs on the 21/02 and PCCs 3/3 heard from CO on 8/3 for form 80 for my BF & Pte proof. Nothing since.... Killing me
