  1. Congrats sns on the visa grant. I'm so hoping for a smooth and quick journey too. Going to hand my notice into work tomorrow as I have to give 3 months and don't want to be stuck here for a minute longer than I have too! Fingers crossed for the English exam laevans!!
  2. Wow, you must be over the moon! Delighted for you. Hand in your notice and get on that plane. Your dream has arrived ))
  3. Wow, congrats!! That was super fast. Did you also upload form 80 & 1221 when you front loaded. That's amazing. Gives me hope mine will come through soon...
  4. Yes it's all addresses for the last 10 years. I've done 3 police checks now for immigration... I've lived at like 15 addresses in those years!! Does anyone know how long it takes for medicals to be uploaded, and if anyone is crazy like me... I know I'm healthy (enough) but worry they'll find something wrong with me !! This process is killing me off slowly!!
  5. Hey, I'm in the same boat! Lodged 189 today. Just received my HAP number so booked medicals for next week, waiting on PCC from Oz to arrive and then will upload all before CO gets in contact! So excited. Good luck everyone! Hope it's a fast grant for all of you! I'm hoping to hand notice into work end of March (I have to give 3 months) and we really wanna be on our way in July...
  6. Sorry to be jumping on here friends! But I lodged my 189 today and I'm super excited and there's no February lodged post! We're waiting for PCC from Australia to arrive and we have medicals next Wednesday. How is everyone's application going? We hope to be in Sydney by July!
  7. @Lucas2017 that is so frustrating regarding your wife's qualification may be a cert 3. Fingers crossed this isn't the case! Have you thought about preprimary school teaching? This could be an option of your wife's degree is 4 years? Or alternatively have you thought about 457?
  8. @Lparker15 to qualify for childcare centre manager with TRA you'd need to have children ranging from 0-6 minimum of 20 of them to be considered. You're self employed too which poses an additional problem trying to prove it all. Check out the registration requirements for pre primary school teacher in the state you wish to move to as you definitely need teaching practice. Try another university if the open university doesn't include this.
  9. @Lucas2017 It's hard to know but I think you're right, the degree was needed if you didn't have 5 years experience as a manager which can substitute the qualification. TRA guidelines now are diploma level qualification + 3 years post qualifying experience managing a nursery with minimum of 20 children. My qualification was assessed as an "approved diploma level education & care qualification" by ACECQA. How confusing though! Surely it should be just clear cut like other professions. :arghh:
  10. Wow that's quite worrying! Did you have an agent at the time? I know that TRA have upped their assessment process as they require you to have worked for at least 3 years specifically the last 12 months experience in a nursery a minimum of 20 children from 0-6 years. That's pretty annoying though if TRA gave you positive and they are the assessing authority they should be correct like. I emailed TRA back in 2015 and they stated the above. I have been invited to apply for my visa yesterday so I hope that things have changed and they're not going to fail me because of no degree. Your right though either you use the NNEB and experience otherwise you won't pass as the degree was obtained after the experience so that won't be relevant. Apply to ACECQA or have a look at their qualification checker online it might already be there, then as the others have suggested speak to an agent.
  11. Hi Lucas, can I ask first who said final decision was no immigration or TRA?
  12. As far as I'm aware you'll need academic for nurse skills assessment. There's loads of material on YouTube, examenglish website, e2 language etc. you can then do general IELTS or Pearson PTE-A for points if you need it. Good luck! :cute:
  13. Racism was no where near as bad as the UK especially in 2010 when I was there. Sydney has a very high population of Asian people and to be honest I loved it, I made lots of friends from various cultures and found people far more tolerable, curious & accepting of others. I found I also felt safer than I do today living in London. Apart from driving through the outback and camping in the middle of nowhere with no phone signal of course! :err:
  14. Cheers DukeNinja, great to hear others stories. Yes we've done the same applied yesterday knowing there is the second round on 15th although I know lots of people wait 2-5 rounds before invitation. Congrats on your invite! Did you do it yourself our with agent? Where did you find that info about the percentages of occupations have been submitted, and do you know is that this year as in 2017 or from Jully 2016?
  15. Thank you to all for the great advice on this thread! Finally got the superior English score and submitted my EOI. Couldn't have done it with out you all  Good luck to anyone starting it. If you need advice- shout out!
  16. When you turn 18 apply for a Working Holiday Visa it's for 12 months and then your dad could try help you gain further visas in the future.
  17. Hi All, We just submitted our EOI this morning :jiggy:so I wanted to know how long some of you waited for an invite? I know there are two rounds per month but wanted to get a feel for the longest time people had to wait before they got the invite. My occupation Childcare Centre Manager - 65 points thanks in advance.
  18. IELTS or Pearson PTE-A. Depends what he feels more comfortable with hand writing in a large hall, or typing on a computer inter timed constrictions. I chose PTE it took me 3 attempts. Both times I lost out by 1 mark in 1 area and it was really frustrating. Key is knowing the format and where the highest scoring lies. Lots of revision and dedication!
  19. Galway, Ireland moving to Sydney NSW
  20. Did you get your visa? I just submitted EOI today- omg the feeling is amazing
  21. Congrats Katherine! Did you re-sit the Pearsons since? I have my second attempt on Wednesday  I just received a positive skills assessment so I am delighted. Fingers crossed I can apply for EOI next week too! How do you find out the invite dates btw?
  22. I think it's because they assess it as a trade rather than education tbh! I was looking at the same route if this failed, I emailed around a couple of the big childcare centres in regional Australia (but not completely outback!) asking for advice regarding sponsorship and had a couple of emails back- which I was surprised by. They told me to have my qualifications assessed by ACECQA and then get back to them with the outcome and we could proceed. I lived in Oz for two years in the past and that have jobs there listed on my CV so I think employers know I have been there and it's not just a dream. For the 'Pre-Primary School Teacher' skilled visa you would need a 4 year degree in Early Years/Early Childhood no need for PGCE unless you were wanting to teach in Primary or if you had lets say a non-education degree you would need the PGCE to top up and specialise in Early Years to get that visa if that makes sense?
  23. Not worth it, just spend the $42 the police checks done for immigration are specific for that.
  24. Hi Lparker, I didn't bother to top up my Foundation Degree as I knew it would delay things and I emailed TRA last year asking for a guide on what they are deeming equivalent. They replied: 'Your employment will be comparable if you have worked in your trade for a minimum of three years after the award of your qualification and can demonstrate currency by having worked for the last 12 months in the last 36 monthsat the required skill level.' To be honest, I do not think just having the Degree would be sufficient for 'Childcare Centre Manager' as you would need to prove experience in this. TRA do not only assess your qualifications, it's a assessment of skills and experience. I think what you should do is top up your degree so it is four years worth, then you can apply as a 'Early Childhood Teacher' and you do not need the experience only teaching practice - 45 days or something? Alternatively get sponsored on a 187 RSMS as a Senior Educator/Group Leader?
