  1. Ask ANMAC to send your docs onto APHRA. Saves you having to pay twice for certification. Once your assessment is complete, just e-mail them with the address of the APHRA office you want them sending to. They send them once a week on a fri. I have done that. When I sent my application form off to APHRA I only had to include a cv. Debs
  2. I wonder if he means that he wants to include his wife on the visa but wants to go ahead of his wife to maybe get settled first and then bring her over? The question isn't very clear but that's how I read it. Debs
  3. I have done bothe tests. One for assessment (academic) and the other (general for points as I missed out on half a point. Debs
  4. My agent has asked me for payslips, 3-4 for each year worked as well as p60's. Debs
  5. We've had a weather warning for tomorrow and sat. Torrential rain!!! Debs
  6. I was once asked at an interview who the secretary of health was lol. We have government white papers here. Do they have the same there. What are they called. Might be worth having a look at the most recent one. Their mission statement is another good one. I would think of some questions to ask them at the end. The 'how can you further my development' type and 'am I able to utilise my clinical skills straight away or do I need to attend training or refresher courses' (cannulation, IV drugs etc). Debs
  7. I'm a nurse with 60 points going on a 190 visa. Debs
  8. I'm using an agent. Passed my skills assessment. They are now submitting my EOI and SS after that. Debs
  9. I received my e-mail 6 days after receiving the one saying it went to 2nd assessment. You shouldn't be waiting too long. Debs
  10. You only need to do IELTS if you're going down the pr route. If you're not going down that route then you just have to provide evidence that you have been taught in an English speaking school. If you are doing the pr route then you have to do the IELTS academic exam (not the general). I think it's £135 for the test. Takes pretty much a whole day and you have to cover listening, reading, speaking and writing. For your skills assessment with ANMAC you need to get 7 or above in each category. They will not accept an overall score. I practised with http://www.ielts-exam.net but there are loads of free tests online if you google it. Pr route - 189 visa gives you the freedom to work anywhere in Australia. 190 is state sponsored so you have to choose a state that is in need of nurses and live and work in that state for 2 years. Then you can move anywhere in Australia that you want to. For the initial 2 years you can work anywhere within that state. It costs a lot more to go down the pr route but the added security is worth it. You have to have your skills assessed and have to do IELTS. temp route - if you Re sponsored by a hospital or healthcare provider then you have to work for them for a certain length of time. If it doesn't work out you have to find another sponsor within 90 days or go home. You have to pay for your healthcare and (in some states) your children's education (if you have any). This route is a quicker and cheaper way to get to Australia. It is only a 4 year visa so if you wanted to stay you would have to apply for a pr visa anyway. Can't comment on other visas available as I only know about the ones I have mentioned. Hope this helps fliflop. Debs
  11. I'm a native English speaker but for my skills assessment I had to do an academic IELTS test with a minimum of 7 in each category. Some people don't need to do it for an assessment but do it for extra points. You get 10 extra points for 7's or above and 20 extra points for 8's and above. Debs
  12. You've passed. Thats what I got. I got my LOD letter the same day but only because they sent it to my agent via e-mail and he sent it to me. Debs
  13. When I received my LOD from ANMAC there was something written on it to say they would send the docs to APHRA if I liked. Just let them know which office. I messages them back asking them to send them for me which they did. They send them once a week. I contacted APHRA to say I'd done this and they sent me an e-mail with the application form attached. Asked me to complete the form and send it to them. I sent the form and a cv. They said they would contact me if there was anything else they needed. Simple really. My APHRA office is Perth. Hope this helps. Debs
  14. If its at wrong end of the market maybe you could sell half of it. Part ownership. My friend owns half of her house and pays a small rent to the person who sold it to her. She owns 49% which means that the other owner has control. Might be worth considering. Debs
  15. Congrats on the job. Are you moving alone or with family? I've just passed my skills assessment and have just applied to APHRA. Debs
  16. I think mine was from the day of receiving the docs. Mine was 15 weeks is from them receiving initial docs. They said it was 15-16 weeks because of back log. Is it sue Tully. She was always really nice to me. Debs
  17. hi there. I completed the academic IELTS fro my skills assessment which required all 7's. I achieved all 7's or above which was great, but for 20 points I needed to get all 8's. I got 7.5 on the reading. So I did it again but I could chose between academic or general so I chose general for points. Does that make sense? i have done the full assessment. Debs
  18. I sent my application off 9th April. They acknowledged that they received it on 29th April and advised me that I needed a more in depth transcript. My university sent it and ANMAC received it 24th June. Received an e-mail on 13th aug from ANMAC saying they had completed my assessment and that it has gone to a second review as per ANMAC policy. Received an e-mail from ANMAC 19th aug saying it was successful and my LOD was included. Debs
  19. maybe she was diabetic. That can affect tissue viability causing necrosis. Debs
  20. For cv purposes I would stay in your post for at least 12 months. Anything less than that isn't much experience to go on for future nursing posts. I am confused though, does you prospective employer in cath lab know you are planning to emigrate? If you accept the post and then get your visa and leave shortly afterwards, you'll have 2 jobs on your cv both with limited time. There seems to be a big need for emergency type nursing in Australia inc agency work. I'd stay put but that's just my opinion. Good luck on what you decide.Debs
  21. My nan was one of ten kids, 4 of which were girls and they were all named after flowers. Rose, Daisy, Violet and lily. When people started calling their daughters these names I thought the names were old fashioned because I think of all the old ladies in my family lol. I have a friend who has called her 2 daughters Tilly and Annie. I have another friend who has called her 2 daughters Sydney and Frankie. I went to school with a girl called Victoria Dickson who got teased because her initials were VD. The same with Brenda Owen (BO) lol. I've also got a friend whose name is Tracey and she married a fella whose surname was Lacey. Tracey Lacey. I'd of kept my own name ha ha. I have 3 boys, Richard (Richy) Adam (Ad) and Jonathan (Jonny). They all seem happy with their names. Debs (Debra)
  22. She posted one post in 2007 and not another one until recently. With only 10 posts in total I'd say she's fairly inexperienced on this site. I think your post was a little bit unfriendly.
