There have been loads of errors where I work. One nurse shouted a patient by their surname, which was the same as another patients Christian name. Patient shouted that's me. Pt took into room, procedure done, pt wheeled out into recovery. Another nurse from another room comes for her patient, only to find the patient in recovery post procedure. All 3 members of staff in the room were oblivious to the fact that they'd scoped the wrong patient. No one checked patients name, dob, no one had discussed how the pt came to be here (the 2 patients were for different procedures). Doctor blamed the nurses. Nurses blamed each other. Not one of them held their hand up and said its my fault, I made an error. They were all at fault. As a result we have to triple check everyone and sign to say we have. The point I'm trying to make is you are honest. You held your hand up. You made a mistake. People like honesty. Now you have to draw a line under it and start applying for another sponsor. What happened is now in the past. Today is a new day. Debs

Now that's not true rupert. There are a lot of free pens!!! Debs

Have they said if they are contacting AHPRA to let them know of the error. Not trying to be pessimistic hun, just realistic. You don't wanna be paying out for a skills assessment and pr visa only to find you've lost your pin to practice. Big hugs. Debs

Thanks Tina. Do you mind me asking if you used an agent or did it alone. Debs

Hi all. Can anyone help me. I have a friend who is looking to apply for a visa with her husband and kids. Her first child is from a previous relationship and he has no contact with his father and he is not named on his birth cert. how would she get around this dilemma. i appreciate that this can be a sensitive issue, but if anyone has been through this or knows how to resolve it, could you please help me and my friend. I don't mind if you want to pm me instead of posting on a forum. Thanks all. Debs

Sam, I work in GI and we get a lot of patients coming in with a feeling of a lump in their throat. A lot of the time there is nothing there, but acid reflux can cause that feeling. The stomach acid causes some of the muscles in the throat to constrict making it feel like there is a lump. Another trigger is stress, and given that your dad has had a CA diagnosis, he probably is a bit stressed. I know your a nurse Sam, but GI is my speciality. And I know that it's whole different ball game thinking as a nurse when it's your loved one. Can't help with the rest of your dilemmas other than to say, life happens. You can postpone your plans until later, but who knows what will crop up later. Will you postpone again. Your friend might have her 1st baby. If your still here, she'll want you to be god parent. Will you postpone again. Debs

do you have to pay for visas with a credit card?
travelchic replied to manchester lass's topic in Visa Chat
I paid with a debit card. Didn't have to contact my bank, just went through no questions asked. Debs -
12 years is a long time to feel unsettled. I can't help with the info you need but I hope you can all, as a family, find what you're looking for. Debs

Mine was £405 for one adult and one child. That was in Manchester and I'm a nurse so had to have extra bloods. Debs

I agree. If it were me, I'd move and then try to continue my training there. And if you can't continue, it's not so bad to start again as your still in your first year. Plus you'd have 2 houses to run if your hubby travels ahead of you. That's just my opinion anyway. Debs

I don't keep my finger on a button. Just put in the pod and flick the switch. Sorted lol maybe it's a different model. Only paid £40 for it too lol.

Shipping luggage 1 bag, 45kg, options?
travelchic replied to jdad84's topic in Shipping and Removals
Have you tried sevenseas. I looked the other day. Max weight per item/box is 30kg so you'd have to do 2. It says £93 on there but not sure what charges are in top of that. That's for excess baggage by sea. That was Liverpool to Perth. I had advice from pss once and I'm sure they said theirs was £120 for 3 boxes then £25 per additional box. Again, not sure of charges once it arrives in Australia. Debs -
I love my dolce gusto. Have a cafe au lait in the morning (after 2 cups of tea) and I have a caramel latte when I get in from work. Mine is simple to use. Cream in first then the coffee. Don't measure it or anything, just let it run till it starts to look a bit watery. Debs

Sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I think you have to live there for a minimum of 2 years out of the 5. If not then you have to apply for residents return visa. Contact an agent and ask. The last thing you want is your hubby being in Australia on a valid visa and yours elapsing. You would then have to apply for your own visa. Debs

Nursing in Perth ... Need info please
travelchic replied to SammyDevonport's topic in Careers and Vacancies
Hi Sammy. You can look for jobs on seek.com.au. Seems to be a lot of nursing posts on there. You need to apply to AHPRA which can be done by post. There is a lot of documents to send though and they all need to be certified. It costs a lot more than the NMC for initial registration too. Once you get registration, you then have 12 months to validate it by presenting to the AHPRA office with ID. Or you can also do that by post too. Good luck. Debs -
Mine only took 3 weeks. I think I may have touched lucky and sent it before there were changes. Mine went to Perth office. Debs

inquiries about IELTS and engineering Australia
travelchic replied to Hisham Al Said's topic in Visa Chat
The academic listening and speaking are the same as the general. It's just the reading and writing that's different. And it's a bit more difficult than the general. Debs -
Kellyv, forgot to say, wear something warm. Your not allowed to wear your coat and they take your bag and mobile phones off you. You can only take pens, pencils, erasers and sharpeners and water in a clear bottle. I was freezing when I did mine. Could hardly write my fingers were that cold. Debs

When is your test peter?

Well have about £20k but I'm not worried. I've spent so long saving money for this visa that I don't think I'll ever spend money unnecessarily again. I am now an official tight arse!!! i think you'll be ok. Just be careful to begin with. If people offer to lend you things or give you things when your setting yourself up take it. Once your settled financially, you'll probably find yourself doing the same for another newcomer. Debs

Ha ha. Your writing now that your only at the EOI stage but I'm telling ya it goes fast fast fast now. Before you know it it's all submitted and your checking hourly for the visa approval. It's a form of torture!! Debs
