  1. Oh. I thought you got 12 months or so. I am applying for a visa for my young son and me. If the visa had to be validated before ye were ready to move, would we both have to go do you know?
  2. How long do you get from having your visa granted to having it validated???
  3. I am a nurse and have been off work for the past 10 months. I am now back at work on a phased return. On returning to work i was told that i had to use my annual leave as my phased return. I was also told that i could only carry over 2 of my annual leave days from last year when i actually have 12 days left. Our trust sickness policy states that i can carry over a max of 20 days annual leave. The policy also states that the trust and myself should come to am agreement about using annual leave for phased return but its not compulsory. At my return to work meeting my manager and hr said that it was new policy. There is no new policy. What makes it worse is that another nurse who i work with has also just returned to work on a phased return (she was off with stress) and she didn't have to use annual leave and could carry over all of her 16 days annual leave from last year. I had spinal surgery. My union rep has said that its not right and phoned my manager but she won't back down. The only way forward is the grievance route. After reading this spread i am now worried about standing up for myself in case it leads to a bad reference for when my young son and i emigrate. Should i just let it go ??
  4. Thanks Fiona. Not so worried now. I will have 5 years experience by the time i get there. 4 and a half of then in Endoscopy. So will start at the bottom. Sorry mille. Assumed you were going to Perth. Don't know why. Hope it all goes well for you. Maybe I'll secure a past time post which will allow me to do agency work in Endoscopy/recovery. That will also allow me more time off during school holidays. My mum want to visit for a couple of months so I'll ask her to come during school holidays to help out. Thanks to you both. I am optimistic again :-)
  5. good luck millie. bet your dead excited. look forward to your coments on life in perth in the first couple of months. deb.
  6. Thanks Fiona. I salary sacrifice now. My CAR PARKING CHARGES. Really annoys me having to pay car parking charges at the hospital where i work. And i live about 10 miles away so have no choice. When my son was younger i used the hospital nursery full time and i used salary sacrifice for that. I ended up being paid about 300 less in my wages so was well worth it. So if i pay say 400 rent and say 150 child care per week i would still have approx 450 a week for bills and food and maybe have some over for days out and treats. Does that sound about right. Doesn't bother me being Skint as long as bills are paid. Would rather be Skint in the sunshine instead of being Skint here lol
  7. Oh that's good fiona. Will i just have to say tax then and the rest is mine??
  8. Thanks for your replies. I have considered taking a part time post and making up the time with agency work. My migration agent said that agency work would be my best bet as i can then choose my shifts and therefore avoid nights/weekends. I have seen a few part time posts in a clinic setting which is days. Also, if an Endoscopy post comes up in the meantime, that is usually Mon-Fri days so fingers crossed one will come up. Does the salaries on the table include super??? Or do i have to deduct the super from the salary. I appreciate your help.
  9. Thanks Rupert. I have a migration agent and he has advised me to apply for a 190 visa which is state sponsored skilled visa. How much would that be take home then?
  10. Hi all. I am a single mum and am looking to re-locate from UK to Perth area with my little boy who is 5. I chose this area as I have friends in this area (Clarkson, Mullaloo) and feel that i need a support system. I am a nurse and am looking to work full time. After reading so many posts about the cost of living I am now worried that I will be unable to make ends meet. I will have some money to start us off but would hate for that to run out and have to come home. I have looked on seek.com for nurse posts and there are loads but none of them advertise a salary and this is important as there will be only one wage. Can anyone tell me what sort of salary i could expect to take home. Being a single parent i will be unable to do nights or weekends. I have a lot of experience in Endoscopy. I drive in the UK but will only drive in oz if I have to. I also need to take into consideration child care for before and after school. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated. Many thanks. Deb.
  11. Thanks for your help. It was the migration agent that said come back next year so will do that.
  12. Forgot to mention, I will also have to pay after school fees as he is only 5. The nurse on the stall said she could have me there in 2-3 months.
  13. Sorry in advance if this is a common question but i am new to here and am feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the info. I want to migrate to WA with my little boy (just the 2 of us). I am a nurse and am 41. I will have been qualified 4 years this sept. I had someone go through the visa questions at a migration exhibition and she said i cannot appy for a skilled visa till sept 2013 because i need 5 years experience to gain the 65 points needed. She said come back then. I went to the next stall which was a healthcare stall and a nurse there said that she will find me sponsorship on a 457 visa but on that visa i would have to pay for a) my child's education at approx $8000 p/a and private health care for the both of us. Trouble is, as I am going on my own there will only be one wage coming in and I am worried that I will struggle financially beacuse of tuition fees. Is there any other visa that will allow me to apply before sept 2013 where i don't have to pay tuitio fees for my son. Thanks for any help. I am passionate about nursing. Not so passionate about visa'a. Deb.
