  1. I submitted my visa 190 WA on 10/10/13 and received a CO 12/11/13. I had already done the medical and they were requesting police check which was submitted 13/11/13. T4 Adelaide also. Debs
  2. I had mine done at bridgewater. The doc told me my son and I passed our medical but obviously had to wait for my chest x-ray and bloods to be reported on. He was pretty thorough. Said he would contact me back within 48 hours if there was any probs with x-ray and bloods. Didn't contact me back so I assume all was ok. Debs
  3. Hi Baz. Sorry for the late reply. Both parents have to sign the form. Tick a box at number 1. Put details of each child on 2. I put my details on 3 and Jonny's dad put his in 4. Hope this helps. Debs
  4. Yes had to do both as per my agent. Sent a template, a blank form and the 1229 form. Hope this helps. debs
  5. I had to ask my sons dad to do a stat dec that had to be certified. I've got the template in my emails if you want a copy. Just message me your e-mail add. Debs
  6. Hi all. Our visa for 190 WA was lodged 10th Oct. Had medicals 1st Nov (before being asked) and also sent off for police check at the same time. Received police check back late last week. Then today I got an e-mail saying I've been allocated a CO and can I send a police check (which I posted to my agent last night as I can't access a scanner). Does this mean the the medicals have been passed? Would they have asked for more info or told me if they were deferred in the e-mail? Debs
  7. I used a JP for mine, then when my assessment was complete ANMAC sent them on to APHRA for me. I only had to send a cv and payment to APHRA and all was done. Bingo. Debs
  8. My 6 year old had to move all his limbs, all over the place as did I. This was as well as eye, ear and skin check. I think if you have to tick any of the boxes then it will be referred. I know mine will as I had surgery last year, and have been treated for post natal depression. Debs
  9. Do you get set top boxes in oz. we have one here in the UK that we can record stuff on. We only use it to record junior movies for my son but its something for him to watch when there's naff all on telly here. Debs
  10. I applied for a 190 visa with 60 points which is sufficient according to my agent. Can't comment on other visa types though. Debs
  11. Oh no. I love my job in the nhs. It's fast paced and tiring but the nurses run the show. The doctors just turn up to do the procedures and then go. We do everything. It's completely nurse led. And we don't take any **** from the doctors either. I am lucky that the doctors where I work respect us and our knowledge. I find its usually the house officers that come waltzing in thinking they are something else. But after a couple of weeks of working with us we knock that out of them and they end up leaving as normal human beings ha ha. Not sure how I'll cope with having my autonomy stripped away from me though. Is it dr led everywhere? Debs
  12. Use the surgical nurse code. Don't mention 254499, just use the description, then factor in your details for surgical nurse. You need to mention what you do ie pre op assessments, liaising with anaesthetists and surgeons, post op obs, wound management, IV drugs, liaising with community/district team, pain team, identifying post op complications, resus, physio et mention if you are a link nurse for anything and any other responsibilities you have like mentoring student nurses, co-ordinating shifts etc. I don't want to put about what's on mine because I am a medical nurse but my manager wrote along the lines of... demonstrate the ability to assist senior staff in creating and maintaining the environment to allow a high standard of care, ensuring staff welfare and teaching of nursing and non nursing staff. Invole patients and careers/relatives in the planning and delivery of care, working with other professionals to ensure patients needs are met including health promotion appropriate to their condition. Have knowledge and confidence to assist with interventions during emergencies, demonstrating professionalism and taking appropriate responsibility. Can carry out all forms of care without direct supervision, is a mentor of student nurses and new staff and is an excellent role model. confident, competent staff nurse with the ability to assist with the management and organisation of the clinical area. Conscientious nurse, consistently demonstrating high standards in all areas of role and responsibilities. The rest of it is aimed at my speciality and is of no use to you. Reading it I sound like super nurse lol. Good luck. Debs
  13. The description on 254499 is a list of things that all nurses should be competent at so use that as your basis. Then add to it your duties as a medical nurse or a surgical nurse. You can't pick both. You can only use 254499 if your occupation is not on the list for reg nurses ie infection control nurse. You can't use this code for WA SS either but I can't comment on other states/territories. Description for medical nurse 254418Provides nursing care to patients with conditions, such as infections, metabolic disorders and degenerative conditions, which require medical intervention in a range of health, aged care and community setting. Description for surgical nurse 254424 Provides nursing care to patients with injuries and illness that require surgical intervention. If I was you I would think about which type of nursing you have more experience in where you work now. If its medical use code 254418, if its surgical use code 254424. Whichever one you use, add to it the description for 254499. Hope this helps. Debs
  14. My 18 year old son had symptoms that mimicked a TIA/stroke but it turned out to be a migraine. He was admitted into hospital and kept in for 3 nights while they did tests but there was nothing wrong. Didn't get a headache with it. He was given advice on what medication he should take if it happens again but it never did come back. Have to admit, I was scared. He was drooling and lost vision in one eye, no strength in his arm or leg and numbness in his fingers. I'm a nurse and don't take my kids to the hospital/GP unless there's an arm hanging off or something drastic so it must have been bad for me to take him to the hospital. Wouldn't wish migraines on anyone but fingers crossed that's what it was britchicx. What a stressful time for you. Big hugs xx Debs
  15. I am a medical nurse and my reference was fine. I'm not going to e-mail you my reference because I don't know you and your not a regular user of this site but I will give you some pointers. you need to include dates of employment, area of expertise and a list of your duties using the ANZSCO definition which I have pasted below for you. Occupation Detail for 254499 REGISTERED NURSES Unit Group Tasks: assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for patients according to accepted nursing practice and standards working in consultation with other Health Professionals and members of health teams, and coordinating the care of patients providing interventions, treatments and therapies such as medications, and monitoring responses to treatment and care plan promoting health and assisting in preventing ill health by participating in health education and other health promotion activities answering questions and providing information to patients and families about treatment and care supervising and coordinating the work of Enrolled Nurses and other health care workers Hope this helps. Debs
  16. Contact the NMC. They should have it as you can't practice without proof of it. Go on their website, look up international nurses and message them. I'm talking about transcripts by the way. Debs
  17. Maybe she feels intimidated by your work. Ask her does she want to go for a drink one night after work. Clear the air. And if she bites your head off, ask her for it back when she's finished. Debs
  18. Woo hoo. Well Jel Lorraine. Hope it'll be jonny and me soon. Can't wait. Cleaned the house today for it to go on the market. Should be submitting my visa this week. We will have to have a meet up some time. Debs
  19. If your going on a 190 visa you get 5 points for the state nomination. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. You can get 20 points from the IELTS for all 8's and above or 10 points for all 7's and above. You may have to do IELTS for your skills assessment anyway. You should check that first. Debs
  20. Another vote for John Adams at immigration2oz!!! Debs
  21. Raise the age of buying alcohol to 21 or even 25. I think when we get older, the hangover kills us, which makes us more responsible. My 20 year old son can drink himself into a coma, then get up the next morning, eat some breakfast, and he's good to go. I'm a bit envious of that lol. Debs
  22. I used an agent for my visa (different visa to yours) because I didn't want to make mistakes given my age. If I knew then what I know now I wouldn't have used one. Don't get me wrong, they have been great, but I think I could have done it myself. I should have been more confident of my capabilities. Hindsight is a great thing. Debs
  23. Why did you choose WA on your visa and not Victoria??
  24. Toodolou, even though you are not claiming points, you are still having your skill assessed. They can't assess your skills without info of your work history. I would put whatever you do now as you will need to give them a letter from your manager explaining what your job role. I couldn't decide whether my role came under medical or surgical. I am classed as medical but its acute and in a theatre setting. I contacted ANMAC and they advised me. Just contact them if your unsure. Be aware if you are using a generic code. I wasn't allowed to use it as they won't accept it for SS in WA. I only get bespoke student nurses because my environment, although medical, doesn't give a student a good learning opportunity in a true medical setting. It's more surgical. Confusing!!!! Some people say that ANMAC aren't very helpful and get annoyed if you contact them. That wasn't my experience at all. I found them helpful. Debs
