  1. I was going to answer along the same lines....I would think a successful migrant needs to be not too homesick and financially secure. ...? I think the rest can probably be sorted but I'm guessing as I've never done it
  2. Sell up in oz and stay here....it's a no brainer
  3. http://carbonfootprintofnations.com/ is interesting. Oz uses more than the uk per capita for everything....even water which surprised me. It must be irrigation or something. Oz needs to clean up a bit. We all do but Oz is fairly bad.
  4. I don't know jigsaw but judging by your other 4 songs I'm definitely going to listen to it!
  5. With or without their parents? I wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere without my parents when I was little. How awful either way.....
  6. Guess who has the biggest store of plutonium in the world? Yes the uk! We have it so that we can make money by selling it to the Japanese only they don't want it anymore so we are stockpiling it. No wonder the government are keen on nuclear. ...it is ghe cheapest way of ridding this stockpile
  7. I believe in the precautionary principle and I just don't see why anybody wouldn't. My theory is that it is too scary for a lot of people to process. Ps. The poll could say climate change and encompass cooling and warming.
  8. well the uk government assume exactly that. I specifically remember a politician saying that most single income families are higher end earners and choose to have one income. I think it was when they were scrapping the child benefit for higher earners. They did assume and they were wrong.
  9. I don't think the problem is with the 42k person getting help.....it's more that the 80k person gets none and things are still pretty tight at that level if there is only one income for a family..... I'm only guessing but have been in a similar situation in the uk and it's pretty tough. The government assume you choose to be a one income family and therefore you must be loaded but this is not always the case
  10. Lots of new cars about.....I have really noticed. And bright red is back in.
  11. When I was a kid I used to walk along the streets seeing everyone inside watching tv. I didn't get it and I knew these people were different to me. Then I travelled the world and oz was my fave country for travelling. The outback, not the cities. I'm a romantic and I used to want to be a travel writer for my job (inspired by Bruce Chatwin). Anyway it has all changed now I have kids. I prefer to holiday in the same resort every year and if there is any spare cash it will go towards a second property. But.......I think that maybe when kids have grown then the old romantic might come back and then I could see myself living in oz, new zealand, canada, scotland, france or even laos! It would never be permanent though....it would be just wait and see :-)
