Hi, good news for "23rds"!

Can somebody please just explain the timeline from now on? My date is 24th and I understand that once a CO is assigned is that when I have 28 days to have medical and police checks and submit those documents. What are the steps after that? Form 80, AoS forms, AoS payment, Visa granted?

I can't seem to get to grips with the list of 'events' that follow the CO being assigned.

Hi Sadge

well I was annoyed because I hadn't heard from a CO, just checked my Spam box and there it was sent yesterday!!!!! CO gives you 28 days to do medical, police reports, Form 80, scanned copy of Passports, and completed AOS. The race is on!

Thanks Julie, so after keeping us all on tenterhooks for 2+ years they give us just 4 weeks to finalise everything? Phew - this process is not for the faint-hearted!

Hi Lorraine

i have applied for and received an e600 visa. It was granted very quickly about 7 days, and I have 12 months after the grant date to arrive in Australia and then allowed 12 months to stay after date of entry.

So my grant date is in Feb 16 . I have to arrive before Feb 17 and when I arrive I can stay 12 months from that date.

i am going over in November and hopefully my CVP visa will be granted around June 17, but I have a few months leeway should I need. Hope this helps.

Bev

Hi Bev and Lolly, I remembered the subject of the e600 and managed to find you again. We are considering this option if we still haven't received our 143 visa by next summer and have sold our house. Did you do UK police checks first or can you do online from Australia? I notice case officers are asking for police checks just before granting visas or is this the Australian police checks?

Any information would be appreciated as the visa procesding is taking longer than we were originally advised and looks like could be nearer 30-36 months (I hope I am wrong but with the large numbers that applied May/June/July 2014 I assume the years allocation will be met long before June 2017 unless the numbers applying dropped drastically after July 2014).

Great news Julie. You should be well ahead because you've got the AOS process started. Good luck with it all!!!

Hi Sue

yes the police checks can be done online at a later date. I know what you mean about the time, I am only 6 weeks off going on the e600, I was only expecting to be waiting about 6 months for the CPV then I could join the working community again, I will have to be a little more frugal than I initially expected! Can't wait though.

Hi Tien

lets hope so, Amanda JB have you heard anything back yet on AOS?

Julie

Hi Julie, nope, still waiting, although there is more to it. I was paranoid that something wasn't right with my son having had issues at Centrelink with them accepting they do deal with the lodging and so I actually went online to the Centrelink website and went through their "contact us" section (there is no actual e-mail for them) and I told them of my concern and gave my e-mail and my sons phone number for contact. My son then received a phone call the following day from the AoS team who said they had received the application but needed further documentation(!!) - the local offices do not seem to know how to deal with these. Rather than a third trip to the local office, they told them he could upload the info and gave him the details and reference to be able to do that, which was Wednesday last week. Of course, as you can imagine, we really hope that worked! and we really hope he is accepted too, or we are back to square one. Anyway, that's just my experience of it, some seem to have flown through the process and some have had frustrations. We must surely hear more early this week.

By the way, big congrats on getting a CO to you and to all the "23rd-ers"!! Good luck with the rest of the processes, won't belong for us all now!!

Hi Amanda

try not to worry too much - as you know we had problems with my daughter's AOS because she didn't have a pay slip for the last month before her maternity leave ended, but they accepted a letter from her accountant. It held us up, but only by a couple of weeks and it all came through in the end. I have to say the universal experience with local centrelink offices seems to be a bit c***. My daughter didn't find it much fun waiting there for nearly two hours with a nine month old - especially when it came time for the inevitable nappy change and they insisted on escorting her to the rest room!

You are so close now!

I'd like to know this too.....curious!

I read somewhere that the Oz gov have a ceiling on the amount they are prepared to spend on any individual migrant so that if your health costs are likely to spiral above this amount then you will be turned down. unfortunately nobody seems to know what that ceiling is! My feeling is that if whatever you've got / had is under control and the outlook is good then you're okay.... But no idea really

My agent forwarded this to me today - so a step further ... Thought it might allay some fears with fellow post-23rd June 2014, but do read carefully - we have NOT got a CO assigned just yet. This is a standard communication so I assume we are all at the same stage.

"Your parent visa application is not yet assigned for assessment by a case officer.

However, we are offering the opportunity for clients to commence preparing some of the required documents and checks ahead of assessment in order to streamline the processing of their application.

Applicants should be aware that the requesting of these documents and checks does not imply that the primary criteria have been assessed and are met.

Applicants should also be aware that for our purposes medical examinations and police certificates have a validity of only 12 months, and depending on the results of some medical examinations this validity is only for 6 months. We anticipate that by requesting these now there will be sufficient time for processing the application and visa grant – assuming all requirements are met – and for the applicant(s) to then arrive in Australia within these validity timeframes, but it is up to the applicant to choose whether to proceed now to prepare these documents or to wait until their case is allocated to a case officer for assessment.

The documents / checks that the applicant(s) can commence preparing now if they choose are:

1. Police clearances for any country, including (if applicable) Australia, in which the applicant(s) and any non-migrating spouse and dependents (aged 16 or over) have cumulatively spent more than 12 months since 10 years before lodgement of the application. For more information on character requirements please see the following link to our website: http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa/Char

2. If NOT already provided please provide a completed “Personal particulars for assessment including character assessment” Form 80 for each applicant aged 16 or over as well as any non-migrating spouse and dependents (aged 16 or over). Obtain a copy of the form at: http://www.border.gov.au/Forms/Documents/80.pdf

3. Medical examinations for all applicants and their non-migrating spouse and

dependents. For full information see attached Health Examination List.

4. Assurance of Support. The visa category that you have applied for has a mandatory Assurance of Support (AOS) bond that is required to be lodged with Centrelink. You must forward the attached letter to your potential assurer. Your potential assurer needs to provide this letter to Centrelink to initiate the Assurance of Support assessment. Centrelink will advise your assurer how to make an application as well as the responsibilities that accompany the commitment. Centrelink will issue an Assurance of Support Acceptance letter to the assurer when the process has been completed. Further information is available at: https://www.border.gov.au/about/corporate/information/fact-sheets/34aos

· Due to the large number of applications received in the Contributory Parent category the application has not been assessed this stage.

· Progress enquiries about the visa application cannot be answered.

· As this is an invitation to provide documents, and not a formal request, there is no specific timeframe for submission and therefore any extension of time is not required.

· Once the application is allocated to a case officer a formal request will be made for any requirement still pending at that stage."

Hi Sadge

So pleased you have heard something. The first letter I had requesting AOS S said I hadn't got a CO and then a few days later I got a CO! Looks like it's different for everyone. We are all slowly getting there.

Just need to have a gripe........

Will someone please gag Mark Carney, he's talking the £ down ........., again!

will someone please put a rocket up Centrelink, how long does it take to do an AOS?

Feeling better now......until the next time.

Julie

Yes, I too wish that he would keep his big mouth shut! However, he's not the only one who does it - a lot of the "remainers" seem determined to prove that they were right by talking the £ down too, jumping on every little thing. Unfortunately, we're at the mercy of the big money gamblers too.
