It was good yesterday as well. Went to a park in Hamiton with the dog. Just going to the local one this morning. The trees are all still covered in frost here and very pretty. Then home to cook Sunday lunch. A nice slow cooked lamb shoulder.

It’s great that all of you are enjoying November there.  I do have friends and family who love this time of year.  My favourite aspects were the seasonal veg and the autumn colours.

For me personally though it was the month when SAD used to really kick in.  So happy I never have to deal with that again.

Yeah November is a great time of year, the trees have changed, the weather is still mild. Just got back from the village fireworks, a wonderful night, some cider a burger and a chat with neighbours.

Hated fireworks to be honest.  In our neighbourhood it was a whole month of back garden fireworks often at 7-8pm when we were trying to get our daughter to go to sleep.

I'm struggling to find anything you liked ? We only get fireworks tonight and maybe the odd one or two tomorrow.

Funny, because I said the thinks I did like about November in UK in my previous post.  I also said why I had a particular problem with November.  By comparison the fireworks were a minor irritant tbh.

You must live in a very special place because everyone I know in the UK has neighbourhood fireworks that started a couple of weeks before 5 November and extended two weeks after.  Not every single evening, but many of them.  Also random displays at any time of the year I assumed for birthdays, anniversaries, Bastille Day or any bloody excuse.

Well I do consider it is a pretty special place but having said that nowhere round here seems to have fireworks all times of the year, it' just not something we see or hear. I must admit I havent spoken to everyone I know about it though lol

I just read friends facebook feeds.

Over 160,000 people signed a petition last year to end back garden displays so clearly is a major issue for many and doubtless an irritant for many more.  When I was a kid people had fireworks on 5 November only so not really an issue.  You could only buy fireworks then for the lead up to 5 November, now there are specialist shops selling them year round.

Glad we don’t get it here anyway.  Enjoy!

As long as they are used safely they're not so bad I suppose.  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/11/05/children-hurt-fireworks-fired-crowd-organised-display/

I never got excited about them and they scare the bejaysus out of animals.

Hasn't UK banned fireworks yet ?

Australia did it about 40 years ago.

Last one in Australia was in 67. A shame as a great community get together at least when I was a kid. We had a community one in Central London. Good value as well. Lets not ban things as there will be little left at one stage.

I know Solihull quite well.  My first wife had family in Knowle and we visited often in the 1990s.

Fireworks  have been dying out over the years, the prices are ridiculous £70 for 4 large rockets....dont hear them as much these days to be honest, just at organised displays, people aint spending that money on a few fireworks.
