Thanks Eddy. Great to hear from fellow applicant. As you have stated din have to do skill assessment, have not attached any financial statement as my unuversity HR contact (the one getting all correspondence) did not mention it. So I assumed I dont need to provide any.

I see thanks for the information. Yes I did not submit mine as well. Do you have a MA in your University? I did everything myself and do not have a HR contact person.

Any one applied last year still waiting?

Seems that department is now processing 2018 applications in full swing, leaving 2017 people in hanging state.

Did you apply through an MA or do it yourself?

Hi Eddy101,

Do you belong to university in Queensland ? I am a university lecturer applied similar time as you. I think academics do not need skill application.  My Uni did  nomination ( I am not sure if they use MA or HR did by themself) but I did visa application myself.

@MP007 Technically, with the new timelines, he is still within the time (16 months). But might be no harm in asking.

I am from June 17 too!

I tried to call them and let them know that technically people who ve applied waaaaaaay later are being processed and they told me that yes, that is true, but technically I am still within the time frame so I have to suck it up. I could tell Dutton was listering and giggling like Mr Burns at his desk!!!

Hi chilli888 and Eddy101 - I am also a lecturer at a Queensland University who has been sponsored for 186 and is caught in the delay mostly because my university said to not submit my application until their nomination was approved. - Their nomination was approved last Dec and my application is still received after 8 months

Can I ask you both if you are in permanent positions at your universities?

I'm fascinated that no-one here has (or wants to admit that they have) any connections in the department for this area. Imagine how much that could help - with applications that should be simply waiting approval (already viewed and documents submitted).

Admitted to being on the forum?  I guess there's a policy not allowing them to go on public platforms to comment on their official duties/work (like a lot of employers have … and in particular government offices.

Nope, not being on the forum. Of "no-one here has (or wants to admit that they have) any connections in the department for this area". I would have assumed "people would know people" that might be willing to try help where possible. 🙂

@Deep1991 I'm not so sure there is an actual policy or guidelines that mean this for sure - I was chatting with my MA yesterday and they said they have seen cases go from Initial Assessment to Granted and cases from Further assessment to granted - it seems like it purely depends on the CO and who views /deals with the case. I would be ideal if there was some sort of guidelines / policy that they followed. That way we would know what to expect.

I think that's the biggest thing, with all the inconsistencies, we just don't know what to expect, when.
