This timeline and info thread is for those who have lodged their applications post 1st July,2012, under the new skillselect scheme.

The Employer Nomination Scheme visa (subclass 186) is for skilled workers from outside Australia or skilled temporary residents who currently live and work in Australia. It is part of the permanent Employer Sponsored visa program.

To apply for this visa, you must:

    • be nominated by an approved employer
    • be younger than 50 years of age
    • meet the skills and qualifications requirements
    • meet English language requirements.

If you are nominated to apply for this visa, you must lodge your application online within six months of the date the nomination was approved.

When you apply, you must select one of the visa’s three streams.

    • Choose the Temporary Residence Transition stream if you are a subclass 457 visa holder who has worked for your employer for two years in the nominated occupation and your employer wants to offer you a permanent position in that occupation.
    • Choose the Direct Entry stream if you have never, or only briefly, worked in the Australian labour market and have not held a subclass 457 visa for the last two years, or if you are applying directly from outside Australia.
    • Choose the Agreement stream if you are being sponsored by an employer through a tailored and negotiated labour agreement or regional migration agreement.

Don't judge even if you've walked a mile in their shoes. They haven't walked in yours yet!

We are applying under the Direct Entry stream GilraenH. Not sure how long its going to take as there was a huge rush of applications in the end of June before the rule change and they are just dealing with the backlog now!

    Hi whoiam,

My OH's employer lodged their nomination on Friday (3rd August). We're waiting on my oh's Australian police check and my birth certificate before we lodge our application.

We're applying under the temporary residence transition stream, non-DRC and what with the backlog from June applicantions I suspect we're in for a lengthy wait!

Good luck and keep us updated

I got in there quick and lodged my 186 on 5th July.

Uploaded all docs that are on the checklist (no form 80, which was nice).

Still not heard from a case officer, will be ringing tomorrow.

    Some other info on here.

How have you resolved your medical issue? I'm having the same problem--at least similar. MY MA lodged the application and gave me the TRN number. here in the UK they are unable to book my medicals as the TRN is not coming up on the ehealth system. Since then I've been reading the immi website and it seems one should print out some forms during the application process itself. Just wondering if you came across any option of form download or anything while uploading your application? Because obviously my MA has failed to do that.

    yea, similar situation.

I was thinking about attaching a note (.txt) to my online app, saying that ive done medicals, have the paper copy with me, and that IMMI advised on phone that it would appear in eHealth for them, but I did ask about 2-3 days after the 186 was introduced, so im also thinking that perhaps this may slip through.

I will phone them, just cant today, as its usually a good 1hr wait till u get though. Ill keep u posted

Anyone else on here who applied online after July 1st?--How did you get the ehealth forms if I may ask? Was there an option whilst uploading the docs?

Both ENS Nomination and ENS Visa Application (subclass 186) submitted together as DRC through Direct Entry scheme on the 31st of July and activated TRN. The status shows "Application Received". I have been searching the actual processing timelines on net but couldn't find any. BTW, the application is offshore hence no medicals yet. I know that DIAC has been flooded with load of applications and sorting/allocating them itself is going to take considerable time. Let's hope for the best!!!

I have lodged the application through MA who informed me about TRN and password for login. Since I have lodged the offshore application (from India), I do not have to attend Medicals unless I get the intimation from Case Officer.

hi guys i just saw this forum when i googled...ENS nomination timeline.

im an RN in NSW health...they lodged the nomination on 6 August 2012.

the workforce director told me that even if the nomination isnt approved yet i can lodge the application

using the TRN she gave me.

however, when i rang immigration they said not to lodge an application until the nomination is approved...to be sure.

    so, i didnt.

i rang up the person in charge of our company's nominations and she said the DIAC hasnt sent any approvals to their nominations lodged since

26/6/2012 only acknowledgments but she said it was untrue that i couldnt lodge my application till the approval.

getting confused now. i hope you guys can help me out with your wealth of knowledge *wink*

i already have my ielts, afp, police cert from my country etc....but no medical yet. should i just lodge the application anyway?

Recieved Ack letter from My MA. The letter says that they received the appl and nomination on July 27. It says nothing about DRC and gives a 5-7 month timeline though we had applied as DRC.

Also the weird thing is the website checker hasnt been updated to application lodged but still says 'received'. Is this the same for everyione else? When do they say application lodged on the website?

    thanks.

    Hi Guys,

186 visa Decision Ready application submitted 28 August.

MA has given me TRN and login details.

Application still just says 'Received'. So more waiting...

I was hoping to get an acknowledgement letter by now.

Even my app still says 'received' even though we got an Ack letter last week.Would have imagined it would get updated to 'lodged' at least. Have no idea how this works.

Will keep a keen eye on this thread... I hope to apply under the ENS186 Direct Entry.

One question, how does Direct Entry come as DRC? I thought DRC is only for the Transition scheme?

    Cheers

    Bonza!

    Great news!

Is there a reason you are awaiting approval? I was under the impression once you have the TRN# for the nomination you can apply?

    Good luck!

        Hi,
I'm planning to apply for subclass 186 (DE) in the next following months. I have a colleague who has already applied last December for 186 via TRT stream with training benchmark requirements for 2015-2016 (20% trainer role):
        1. In 2015-2016 trainer role should be a key part of the role. What does it mean? Must it be more than 50%? If so, can he get rejection?
        2. I'm planing to apply after March 2018 when the new training benchmark (3K/5K contribution to SAF) will replace the existing one. If the company nomination will be refused for my colleague (after I've already applied) will I get a refusal as well?

        Thanks,

        Hi,
i have a question about the academic transcript that is required by the tra. What does a successful one look like? How much info do they expect? The school where i did my apprenticeship (full time at school, practical and theoretical parts, not half paid employment, half school (btw. is that going to be a problem?) ) has got a document that outlines the content and hours of the course for each year in detail, but it is over 40 pages long. That would cost a fortune to have it translated to english. Could I write a summary of the document with key words and hours completed and have it signed by the school???
        cheers

        Hello,
I'm very new to this site so hope I'm doing this correctly. I was hoping to get some advice from anyone who is in the know / has had a similar experience.
I have been employed with my employer for 2 years and 5 months. My employer completed a nomination for me for 186 visa In May last year. I submitted my application in October last year.
It has only recently come to my attention that the department are disputing the validity of my visa and it sounds like it won't be granted because the nomination was put it too early. ( My concern being my money for visa may be lost despite them not even looking at my part of the application yet )
We have received nothing formal yet - but communication / response is proving very difficult.
Im just wondering how likely it is that the nomination and subsequent application would be approved given it was submitted early ? Even though that time frame has long been surpassed? And I made contact before I submitted my application and feel like I have been given misleading information?
Also, if it was to be refused - what would my options be? Or is there anything I can do now before it gets to that point ?
I have been trying to access some advice from certified migration agents and waiting on call backs/ appointments but my anxiety regarding this is getting the better of me so thought I would post here to see if there is any other advice.
Hope to hear from someone soon.
        Thanking you in advance.

        Hi All,

First timer here, so be kind...

I'm a UK resident married to an Aussie Wife, we have been together for 9 years or so. Married for 2.5 Years.
We have one 18month old little boy, with another one on the way. Due around July.

The time has come, and we plan to head back to Aus in December.

From what I can see, we will be able to get the kids Aus citizenship by descent, and this shouldn't cost too much, around £230 plus £95 for Additional newborn.

I, on the other hand, will have to jump through the usual visa hoops and pay around 7k AUD.
The waiting time appears to be around 11 months if applied in the UK and 22months in AUS.

I'm interested in advice to see if there's a better way of doing things as if I apply here and don't get my passport or visa back in time for me to fly in December, then I might be better off flying out on a tourist visa, and then applying to stay as such.
I would also be interested if anyone knows if there's a cheaper or better way of my doing things, as my wife and two kids i will all be citizens, will they still charge me 7k for the privilege, I thought a while back they use to do free or cheaper visa's if you had young children etc.
        Any help would be appreciated.
