Hi , I am not sure if your Uni does visa processing for you. Usually, they do nomination part and visa processing should be done by applicants. It is always best to be ready with all docs required for the application ( for example, English tests, police reports, and other .....). Once they apply your nomination, you can apply for visa. I hope this helps. Cheers,

I got my golden email today. No docs requested (direct grant). No migration agent used. I hope all of you get PR soon.

Hi RMF, I was suggested by HR to apply for visa as earliest after nomination was made. I agree with Eddy101 that most university jobs are not permanent except for teaching focused only. It looks like you are a way before us. I hope you get visa soon. Cheers!

Hi Eddy101, Do you belong to university in Queensland ? I am a university lecturer applied similar time as you. I think academics do not need skill application. My Uni did nomination ( I am not sure if they use MA or HR did by themself) but I did visa application myself.

Yeah, Lecturers ( holding academic appointment of at least A level) are exempted from Skill assessment.

You are right. Most of the Uni (at least where I belong to) nominate someone for 186 visa if they have 3 year contract. However, most Uni positions are opened for fixed term of 1 year unless you or your supervisor has grants for at least 3 years.

I agree. I am not exactly sure however from this forum I learned that employer should provide assurance ( could be in document form) to the immigration that the position will remain for at least next two years after visa grant.

Hi , Same here. Usually , uni contract is for one year unless you have your own grants. I guess the 2 year contract rule are mostly to small business.

Skill assessment: relevant field of study for PhD degree
chilli888 replied to chwu's topic in Working and Skilled Visas
I think VETASSESS consider PhD as a work experience for scientific occupations. If you have relevant Masters or Bachelor degree, you may apply for for skill assessment against the nominated occupations. -
Hi everyone, Today i submitted 186 direct entry visa application form online with myself as main applicant and my family unit (spouse and daughter ) as dependent applicant. I made payment however i havenot received acknowodgement letter. Additionally i cannot see my name for document attachments page while i can see my spouse and daughter name with document uploading tab. Is it possible for main applicant not to have document uploading tab ? i am a bit worried. Do you have any experience with this? kind regards chilli
