Ferrets
Good news... Home > Car News > Sunderland safe: Nissan confirms car production will stay in UK Sunderland safe: Nissan confirms car production will stay in UK Nissan has confirmed that car production will continue in Sunderland following the Brexit vote. All this means is they were offered a huge bung to say they would stay in the short term. Good for employment in Sunderland, but in real terms it means that Nissan will be paying no tax in the UK. Is that what people really thought they were voting for?

amibovered
Theresa May will be the first international leader to meet the new President of the USA, that's funny, I'm sure one of the experts on here said she wouldn't even get to meet him, face to face. Yep, and my money is on a trade deal. Though not in the normal sense. A deal of mutual protection. Hurt one, you feel the wrath of the other. Which would kill any grand ideas the EU oligarchs have and put them firmly back in their cage.

Trump will not be bothered with the UK, protectionism means protectionism, the US joined the First WW because American ships and passengers were sunk and killed by German Uboats and when no one would listen to Woodrow Wilson at Versailles that was the last involvement they had with Europe till Japan attacked them and they were forced into the 2nd WW, since then we have always been the junior party, we were punished in 1945 for electing a vaguely socialist govt by having our access to loans, grants and cheap supplies cut, no Marshall plan for the UK, we still had rationing till 1954 when France and Germany had none. The only trade deal that Trump is going to give us is one that benefits him and ties our hands on where we can do deals around the world, he has loads of chicken which gets washed in Chlorine to send us and loads of beef fed on growth hormones and mega anti biotics. Same thing with good old New Zealand, they need somewhere to dump their surplus lamb. Where do you thing UK farmers will be in 5 years from now when those trade deal are up and running and we will be selling them just what exactly. Yes well like they say, it takes one to know one, why don't you grow up and try to understand the world, its history and how it forms the world in the here and now, those that do not understand their history are destined to repeat it as any expert will tell you. Why not try actually reading and listening to what the real financial experts are saying, and have been saying throughout, then? Most paint a pretty gloomy picture of a hard Brexit. Fair enough if it doesn't suit you to accept expert opinion either but I notice that you believe in man-made global warming so you do sometimes pay attention to expert opinion. Gbye grey sky
perhaps perthbum should consider why he is siding with the people who normally disagree with him. I suspect it is because Brexit is appealing to people's patriotism and nationalism. The concept that the UK is better than everywhere else and PB believes this wholeheartedly. I'd be in exalted company with Lord Soper, CND, Lenin, George Orwell, 1984, Marcus Garvey, William Morris, Marx, all still widely read and still studied and argued over. Ah well, there are experts and then there are the experts that brexiteers are sick of and according to Gove you don't need to listen to. You know those ones who said the pound would plummet, those ones that said all the money that we pay to the EU will have to be paid out to farmers and socially deprived areas and spent on a whole swathe of democracy for customs and border controls, inconvenient truths that can be ignored because they're "experts" who know nothing about how it is for the man on the Clapham omnibus. Well brexit is going to make us the great free trade nation without any bloody experts in free trade.
