  1. Not sure at the moment when we will do the medicals. We will start the visa application this weekend and figure it all out. I'm leaning towards doing the health check etc in the new year.
  2. Just wanted to let you all know that my 190 State Nomination was approved today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still have to update my Signature at the bottom, but for the sake of anyone else who might be wondering: ANZSCO: 254499 - Registered Nurse (nec) AHPRA Lodged 29-DEC-2017; Asked for more docs 31-JAN-2018; Reg in Principle 12-MAR-2018, (flew over and presented); Full reg 29-MAR-2018 Anmac Modified Skills Lodged: 29-MAR-2018; Positive results received: 15-MAY-2018 PTE(Academic) Wrote: Aug 2018, received results (L:85 R:90 S:90 W:90) 65 points + 5 state sponsorship Thank You all for your support! It will be Jon and Sophie next!
  3. I can't wait. If I had my visa I wouldn't have walked from work this week! JetBlast, I know how you feel. It's so difficult because we all want to be over there.
  4. Sounds like a great plan! We would love to meet you all.
  5. We appear to be moving in the right direction. We just got our mobility court order approved by the Judge, so my girls can legally move if we get a visa (huge weight off our shoulders) . This is week 8 for my app with SA. So hopeful that we will be offered the 190 state sponsorship in the next 2 wks (fingers crossed). I have been keeping an eye out for potential employment and saw that there is a new private hospital opening in Adelaide next year! In the news, it said they were having a hard time filling positions. I just want to be able to be on the next step already! Nice to read updates on how everyone is progressing through the system.
  6. Jon, I check that list every day lol. It is good as people actually update their progress. I'm hoping to get an invite in the next 3 weeks.
  7. Here is a link to a handy spreed sheet that details some SA application dates for 190 and 489. You can add yourself on and watch for submission and sponsorship approval dates. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1e6B4RJHJVbPbDXBSUh8sLP3WshvdIetq5f4hheTJQic/htmlview
  8. I think you have a really good chance of getting a 489 visa as you have 65 points plus you would get 10 more putting you at 75 points. For Western Australia do you need a contract of employment for full time work?
  9. Pauline, you will get 10 points if you get offered a 489 visa. In western Australia on a 489 you have to live in a regional area. I believe there are 9 regional areas. You can not live in Perth as it is not a regional area.
  10. Yes, for the 254415 critical care and emergency nurse the 489 visa is an option in western Australia.
  11. Pauline, Which anzsco code are you? If you are a Nec nurse Victoria will be a possible option for a 190 visa. For NSW it will take a very long time to obtain sponsorship as they invite the people with highest points first. Northern Territory have nec nurse on their list not sure if you will get 190 or 489 . Western Australia does not have nec nurse on their list And South Australia just added extra conditions to the nec nurse 190 and 489. If you have a different anzsco code it could offer more options.
  12. It shouldn't be a problem to take your test in the USA. Mine was done in Canada (even though I'm a dual citizen). There were others taking the test that were not Canadian citizens. The result is electronic and that's the only part immigration really cares about.
  13. Congratulations again everyone!! Only 8 more weeks for me to wait.
  14. I am also a Registered nurse and to increase my points I took the PTE - academic.
  15. Hi Pauline, If you read through the Australian Government Home Affairs site, it tells you who can qualify for partner points for the 189 visa. This is what is on the website: You can claim partner skills if, when you are invited, your partner: has been assessed by the relevant assessing authority as having suitable skills for their nominated occupation has an occupation that is on the same skilled occupations list as your nominated occupation is under 45 years of age has competent English is coming to Australia with you is not an Australian citizen or permanent resident. I believe this should answer your question. Using a migration agent might be in your best interests.
  16. I also watched the you-tube videos from e2 Learning. I believe if you figure out the structure they are looking for with your writing you will be fine. I sat the test twice and got the desired results second time because I studied more on structure. For example with re tell lecture I followed a structure found online. I think it was something like this: The speaker was discussing.... Firstly... He mentioned... Moreover... Finally... Also for the essay I focused on questions I found online asking about a topic and your opinion. I followed the e2 Learning style with a slight modification because all the questions I ever got were asking for my opinion. The e2 Learning describe image is great and if you follow it you will score very well. I also did the paid practice test the day before my exam. Good luck.
  17. I have also applied to South Australia State sponsorship. I applied under Nec Nurse on Sep 9th, 65+5 points. I am hoping for a 190 visa but will have to wait and see. 15-20 week wait when I applied so fingers crossed. Best of luck to everyone here waiting, it would be great to hear of everyone's progress!
  18. LeeH, I was told in the Sydney AHPRA office I would be registered but it would take a week or so for my name to show on the register. I checked the register everyday and found my name listed before they sent an email confirmation. I'm glad you got everything sorted out with the bank and proof of ID. I'm sure you will be registered once they enter your final documents.
  19. Hi Jen3103, So I applied for a bank account online as someone planning to move https://www.commbank.com.au/personal/can/moving-to-australia/planning-your-move-to-australia.html?pid=100441&sc_psk=41078&sc_crkey=195721309178&c They wanted my tax number from my home country which has been Canada for the past 25 years. It was my Social insurance number that I provided, I believe this would be your National insurance number in the UK. They were happy to accept this until I permanently re-locate to Australia. Once you land and settle in Oz permanently you will need a Tax file number in Australia and you will need to update the bank with this information..
  20. That's right LeeH! I just told them the address. I had emailed the bank to confirm this ahead of time though.
  21. Good Luck Jen3103. I now have 75 points, just waiting for some legal documents (child mobility order). I plan on applying for a 189 visa in Jan 2019.
  22. I think they will. I have read about other people providing their lodging address to the bank. The bank will put both your home address and your Australian lodging address on file (just provide the postal address of where you are staying), then the bank can print out a confirmation letter with your account address. Before I left for Australia, I had emailed the branch to confirm they would provide me with a confirmation print out and they had no problem.
  23. So firstly I went to the Bank in Sydney and gave them my Australian address. Then they printed me off a document, like a statement of account showing my Australian address. They signed the document and I took it to AHPRA. I used the Commonwealth Bank (Com bank). When I presented to AHPRA they informed me of the stat declaration. They gave me a list of close by justice of the peace, because they had no one in the AHPRA office that could do it. The Justice of the peace was free. Hope this helps.
