  1. Congratulations!!! That's terrific news, and the timing couldn't be better.
  2. 190 visa processing times have increased to 8-10 months. 189 visa is only 5-7 months. The wait continues!
  3. Congrats. It is a pity that 190 visa processing times have now gone to 8-10 months, while 189 points tested are at 5-7 months. Home affairs website says 489's and 190's are priority grouping 3, whereas points tested 189's would be priority group 4. The government leaders are saying how they want to help get migrants into regional areas or places other than Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Processing 189's faster than other types will not solve that, as most people on 189's go to those 3 cities. It makes it a more difficult wait when there is a lack of transparency around the whole process, and who gets picked-up when by a case officer, and also more difficult when their words and actions do not align. Hopefully everyone else that is still waiting will start to hear soon, or better yet receive direct grants.
  4. We have a similar situation and I obtained a court order granting mobility to permanently relocate to Australia. We didnt even have any contact info for my ex. We served him though his mother and the last known email address we had for him. I would definitely contact your lawyer and get the ball rolling.
  5. We are on day 91. It's all we can think about. I check the immi account and refresh it once it turns 9am in Adelaide. I also follow my immi tracker and see how many c/o contacts there are and how many Grant's. It is awful waiting! 4 of us on the application, so I would imagine it will take them a while to assess (3 over 18yrs and 1 under).
  6. If my visa process goes over the 7-8 month standard processing time, I will submit feedback online via the DOHA website. https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-and-support/departmental-forms/online-forms/complaints-compliments-and-suggestions Has anyone who is passed the 7-8 month mark tried this?
  7. I couldn't imagine waiting 210 days, we are just at the 90 day mark. SA was in the news yesterday, crying out for migrants as they only got 4% of the migration population last year. I feel that more focus should be put on the 489 and 190 visa for places that are considered regional. We (190 State sponsored) should be a priority over the 189 visa who can live anywhere. I feel that if Australia really wanted to push migrants into regional areas, they would focus more on our visa and slow down on the 189 processing. Just my opinion! Hopefully the grant will come soon, fingers crossed for you!
  8. I would google Toowoomba, Someone I did my nursing degree with works out there. I believe they have a hard time finding nurses. https://svha.wd3.myworkdayjobs.com/SVHA_SVPHT
  9. We are in a similar position to you. We have applied for a visa (waiting for contact or grant). Oldest daughter is staying in Canada she is 21. She has a good head on her shoulders and she lives on the other side of the country to us. We video message a few times a week and are in touch daily. The experience of her living away (3300km) has allowed me to feel a bit more comfortable with her being on the other side of the world. I have planned to leave an emergency fund in my bank account just in case and we do have relatives she can reach out to if it's an emergency.
  10. Some of the things I have done in preparation for the move are getting copies of all our immunization records. I got new prescription glasses and contact lenses, so I have a few years before I have to do it again. Open an Australian bank account before you go and deposit money. Get your paper work together to help secure a rental, bank statements, references etc. Then there's the obvious, decide when you want to leave and arrange any shipping and flights and a temporary place to stay. Congratulations on the grant!
  11. I've been filling my time with figuring out best shipping methods. I've decided on upac we ship because we are only bringing our sectional and big furniture pieces. No electronics or appliances as they don't work from Canada to Australia. I think it will kill us to move some of the bedroom furniture, but hey I can hire a couple of strong movers for $25 an hour so should be good.I bought some packing materials on Amazon the other day. The other thing I've been working on is getting my house ready to sell, the market is terrible. So many layoffs in the oil and gas sector over the past few years and it continues! Worst thing is I have to update the kitchen as it's a competitive market (lots of listings), house prices continue to fall. Just had my hardwood floor refinished last week so moving in the right direction. Painter comes in February to freshen the place up. Then I contacted a pet mover and got a quote (I've used them before), but I won't start that until the visa is in hand (hopefully before June). So many things to do, but I wish that visa would hurry along and then I can really get on with things. Hope everyone else's plans are coming a long!
  12. I've been watching the tracker and the 189 are being pumped out, they had 14 grants on Jan 31st. Hopefully the 190 starts to move in February, its been slow going for grants this month.
  13. Any new updates? I managed to get all my police checks back and uploaded phew! Now just to sit and wait.
  14. https://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/Registration-and-Endorsement/International/Applying-for-registration.aspx The form is on this web page under filling in your application form. Good Luck Kriss!
  15. This is a copy of the new AHPRA registration standards for March 1st 2019. So if your wife is educated only from the UK, I think she does not need to do the IELTS. What must I do? If you are applying for initial registration you must demonstrate your English language competency in one of the following ways: 1. English is your primary language and: a. you have attended and satisfactorily completed at least six years of primary and secondary education taught and assessed solely in English in a recognised country, including at least two years between years 7 and 12, and b. your tertiary qualification in the relevant professional discipline, which you are relying on to support your eligibility for registration under the National Law was taught and assessed solely in English in a recognised country and: i. in the case of a registered nurse and/ or midwife, you must provide evidence of having successfully completed at least a two (2) years full-time equivalent pre-registration program of study approved by the recognised nursing and/or midwifery regulatory body in a recognised country. ii. in the case of an enrolled nurse, you must provide evidence of having successfully completed at least a one year full-time equivalent pre-registration program of study approved by the recognised nursing and/or midwifery regulatory body in a recognised country. 2. Registered nurses and midwives If you are applying for registration as a registered nurse and/or midwife, you must provide evidence that you have successfully completed at least five (5) years (full-time equivalent) continuous education taught and assessed solely in English, in a recognised country, which includes tertiary qualifications in the relevant professional discipline which you are relying on to support your eligibility for registration under the National Law The Board will only accept the successful completion of five (5) years (full-time equivalent) continuous education that is a combination of: a) tertiary and secondary education taught and assessed in English; or b) tertiary and vocational education taught and assessed in English; or c) combined tertiary, secondary and vocational education taught and assessed in English; or d) tertiary education taught and assessed in English The last period of education must have been completed no more than five years prior to applying for registration.
  16. @RampaNope, nothing yet. I'm curious to see if we get contact in February. You might get contact faster if your already onshore.
  17. I've seen some people on another web forum waiting for 9+ months, so I'm sure you will hear something. Fingers crossed for an email soon.
  18. We are South Australia too. I've never been there so looking forward to a new adventure. It would be great to meet one day after all of this.
  19. @Westy123 Where do you plan on moving to when that golden email does arrive?
  20. That does sound promising! It hopefully will just be a direct grant then, at at least you know they are working on your application. I had to go to court for a mobility order as my ex does not stay in touch with the kids and we had no address or phone number for him. So it eliminates this step for me. Fingers crossed for the golden email in the next week or so!!!!
  21. How many day has it been now Westy123?
  22. That's why I went the 190 route with SA. There system appears to be first come first serve until they run out of places. My points were 65+5. NSW takes the high pointers first, so you will be in for a very long wait with NSW.

    Police Check

Well I think I found my own answer.....You have to get a second RCMP check in your maiden name. It sucks to be me!
