  1. Yeah definitely looks like North Queensland, was saying that to my mum earlier. That would be a nice job!
  2. I like it just for the scenery. Perth was on it the other day so it was nice for me to see it again. The couple in that episode were really nice. I still haven't watched cake episode even though I moaned years ago I wanted the link!
  3. I'm sure you'll have a great time!! I wish I could do my year again. Put some pics up so I can relive my year through you  Best of luck
  4. If its hospitality type work then there's a website called workabout. It's mostly Live in type jobs. There's a Facebook group but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to name them on here. Otherwise just use gumtree and indeed.com
  5. Glasgow doesn't constantly scream about being the best city in the world. I actually liked Melbourne but the homelessness in both Sydney and Melbourne just got to me. I've heard Vancouver is the same
  6. yes every city has homeless people but I was shocked by the amount in Melbourne and Sydney. They were everywhere
  7. Merry christmas to you both, hope you had a nice holiday
  8. They found out i had vitamin d deficiency when they diagnosed the thyroid problems. Doctor gave me tablets and said dont be too paranoid about the sun, 10 minutes or so was fine without cream. I used factor 50 in australia a lot of the time but still ended up with skin damage. I went for a facial and they told me i had it around my nose. going to start taking my vitamin d again now because im not getting much sunlight now im back at work
  9. I think I'd probably prefer to do this. On the way to Australia I had a stopover in Singapore but on the way home I went from Perth to Edinburgh with a quick stop in Doha except I think we were running slightly late and security was so busy so it was just a mad rush. First flight was 11 hours. I just found it really stressful. It's a really long flight but I think I could just knock myself out with drink or a sleeping tablet or just watch more films. I'd try it once anyway lol
  10. Weather's weird. One week its -5 and the next its 16c. It was wet yesterday though, i prefer it cold and dry over that

I used to buy my bras/underwear from there but other than that and scottie pyjamas one year for mum I've never bought anything else. Always found their clothes slightly old and too expensive for a lot of stuff, definitely didnt see any short skirts etc but I don't wear those anyway. Have bought the occasional 2 can fine for £10 meal with my ex and I bought a few things in Guernsey because it was really the only proper supermarket. I don't remember being amazed by the food or anything like that. Maybe I'll pop in and get a few things for Christmas week this year but I definitely couldn't afford to do a weekly shop in there
  12. Ive found it quite mild the last few days but the following week it was - 6 for a few days. I gave in and bought gloves. Lovely blue skies though so that makes a difference for me. Theres been some really amazing sunsets too. A little bit of sbow or frost would be nice for christmas day
  13. My mum just said it was probably a good thing i wasnt there. Such a shame, poor people
  14. Wish i could come! Im looking at trying to afford to go back for a holiday again next year or following year but it would be hard to get 3 weeks off. As the above poster said - try the bacckpacker section
  15. Hey, If youve got quite a lot of time left and the money then i would go back out and have another go. I think if you tried another place you might feel differently. Ive been back a few months now. If you're looking for laid back drinking etc then country pub might be a good option. Its quite easy to get a job doing that and people tend to be friendlier than in cities. You dont usually need experience either, i didnt have any. I think its normal to feel homesick now and again even if its only for a year. I struggled with my first week, not so much homesick but i just felt i didn't fit in with most other backpackers. I felt like that on and off throughout the 10 months. If you do go back then just try go with the flow and remember your friends and family will be there when you come back. And theres loads of other countries to visit if you dont want to go back to australia, although you cant judge australia on just perth. Its definitely more laid back to the east coast etc
  16. In your situation I wouldnt bother with the farm work. I would make the most of the rest of your time and then look at other options once your visa is finished. Hopefully you can get a skilled visa
  17. Everybodys different but if i have kids it wont bother me using places like tesco, asda etc. Kids just wreck stuff anyway. Although im in love with kids clothes from next. They arent too expensive but definitely a bit more than some. I cringe when i think what i was like with clothes when i was younger. My mum and dad definitely didnt have a lot of money but they would save for what i wanted. When i was a teen i wanted all the makes - ben sherman shirts for school, i got a firetrap jacket that was £100 that i wore twice and wrecked. My dads friend was really skint and i used to give my clothes to his daughter and she got my old bike etc so at least someone got something from it. Now i dont care about clothes at all and i probably look like a tramp most of the time lol.
  18. That sucks that they didnt put their hands in their pockets, must be annoying. I wouldn't throw away the clothes though - its the thought that counts and surely they would still last a while. If not then hand them into a charity shop or something, some kids cant even afford to get cheap stuff. I bought clothes from target and kmart, some are fine
  19. I went there in 2014 for the hogwarts at Christmas thing. It's good, I really like HP but I'm not the most dedicated fan. I still managed to spend a good few hours there. The detail in everything is amazing. It's fairly expensive though like most tourist stuff. I didn't do the photo on the broom although I wish I had lol. The trip is worth it if the family are big fans
  20. Maybe byron bay? A lot of people like it
  21. I didn't go to the zoo in my whole time in perth, think i was zoo'd out after lone pine and australia zoo. I loved going over and sitting near the bit where the boat stops. Sat at the benches and looked over at the skyline or i would go a walk along the river. Was like my happy place lol, always cleared my head if i was anxious or feeling down. Did you manage to get to rottnest island? Its gorgeous there but with a sad history
  22. Ive never heard of anyone using these companies. Apply directly on the government site
