  1. Some really big differences in those quotes! Would be interesting to know if there are any hidden add ons or if they are all inclusive of inspection fees etc and what are others experiences of these shippers like? Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Which is a load of rubbish! My ACA qualified friend said the same until he looked more closely at ACCA. I think ACCA is a lot more accessible but not easier. Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Heres the link. I think doing your tax exams is a much better idea than starting again. Someone also said to me that if an employer advertises for CPA or ICAA it doesn't exclude ACCA qualifieds from applying but incase they are unfamiliar with the qualification to explain exactly what it is and that it is one of the leading accountant qualifications in the UK. http://www.taxinstitute.com.au/education/the-chartered-tax-adviser-program Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. You don't have to sit CPA if you are fully qualified ACCA. ACCA is becoming more recognised in Oz and they have an office there. If you start sitting CPA it appears to employers you are not a fully qualified accountant which you already are. I have been advised that it is better considering sitting your Australian Tax institute exams. That way you are adding another string to your bow rather than undermining the qualification you already have. Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I hope they go up in the UK and where I live follows fast ! It's the first time house prices have ever fallen here since the Germans invaded! Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Brilliant post. Thanks for sharing your experience of Australia so far. I found it really helpful. Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Just remember you are better than half of those sitting the exam! Just keep telling yourself that and you'll be fine. Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. If you just lodged and paid for your visa when you log back in there should be a link to complete the forms for your Medicals and select the centre you want to do them at. Once the forms are completed you will receive an electronic letter and can then book your Medicals with the centre you selected. It would work out quicker to do them before you are allocated a case officer although there is a risk your case officer is allocated much later and this reduces the time you will have to validate your visa. Although recently case officers have been allocated much quicker than the 10 weeks advertised. We were allocated ours after 26 days and if we had completed our meds and pccs and front loaded them I think we would have our visa by now. So it's up to you. Good luck! 9. Firstly your brother needs to have a look at the skills list on DIAC and work out which skill is closest to his qualifications. The list tells you which body can undertake a skills assessment and links to their websites advise you on what this entails. Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Everyone's different and it depends on what makes you tick. I lived in London and hated every minute of it. Too busy, too noisy and too dirty. But everyone's different and what suits one person doesn't suit another. I always enjoy visiting London and can just about cope with it in small doses. Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I've read somewhere on the DIAC website that the primary applicant must enter Australia first. Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Congratulations Laura. That's amazing!!! We were also invited on 1 April but have to fly to the UK for our Medicals which are booked for end of May. Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Just follow the instructions. They will tell you what you need and when they need it. Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. You could generate the letters but not book the actual appointment until you get your CO. Its up to you. We generated ours and booked our appointments before we were allocated our CO. We made this decision as we live offshore and had to book travel to the UK. We booked for around +8 weeks from lodging as everyone on here and DIAC were saying the average was +10 weeks for a CO. we have actually been allocated our CO in under 4 weeks and told we have to complete Medicals within 28 days so we've had to ask for an extension. We didn't have a lot of choice as we can't take the kids out of school and have booked them for half term. So it's your call really. Wait for your CO but be prepared to complete them as soon as they ask you to. Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. True... Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Firstly ICAA will assess your degree and whether it is equivalent to an Australian degree and whether it meets the skills requirement for accountant. Only then will they assess your work experience AFTER meeting the criteria for accountant (assuming your degree meets this criteria). Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Replied to you PM on this in the last hour. Cheers Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. 75 points trumps 60 no matter when the individuals applied. Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. The system isn't perfect. Give it a few days and the status should change. On ours there was a link to book Medicals. If you have this link you can follow it, complete the information requested which will then produce a letter for you to take with you to the medical. If its ehealth the medical centre you elected will be able to see you in their system so you can book your appointments. The letters I believe also tell you which forms to complete and take with you. 20. Well done and congratulations! Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Unfortunately you cannot not be considered as meeting the requirements with work experience alone and work experience as an accountant is only relevant after you have qualified as an accountant. For example you cannot claim to be a doctor until you qualify as a doctor. Same goes for accountant. It would look like your best bet is to finish your ACCA qualification and obtain full membership (which you need if you don't have a degree) and then apply for a visa. However you will not be able to claim for any work experience prior to qualifying as an accountant. Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Just received our email advising us we have been allocated our case officer; T2 - Adelaide. Only 26 days after lodging our visa application! Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Congratulations on getting your visa! Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Surely you will just need to evidence your name change. Lou Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Yes it took a month door to door: and they misunderstood my husbands exemptions which held it up a week. We sent everything to Teresa in the London office who check everything before sending it into Melbourne for you.
