    Which bank?

I was told by an aussie colleague the other day that nab is the only bank that doesn't charge a monthly/yearly fee for having a current account..I would have went nab had I known that..im wth westpac and had no problems.
  2. Def go for 189..we did and got grant in 4 weeks last month n some 190 applicants are still waiting..you will have more freedom with 189 and possibly quicker grant
  3. Yes..but there must b sumthn keepin u here? ? Why dnt u set a date to go home and try enjoy yourselves till then
  4. I like to move..can't imagine landing somewhere and thinking this is it forever..that would be a depressing thought for me! I'll go back to the uk one day and then maybe back here again..I think it depends if u find moving stressful or enjoyable. ..everyone is different
  5. Well I thought it was about as cold as uk when I went last year..I needed coat n hat etc outside at night...bed was freeezing too...but I had been living in sydney for 3 months so maybe I just got used to the warm..maybe had I went straight from uk I wouldn't have felt it so bad..I just know I wont go back as I hate being cold
  6. Melbourne gets very cold..I wouldn't want to live there..one quick visit was enough
  7. Depends on occupation and where u move too..I got a job before I came out but im a nurse. .my husband found a job pretty much straight away but he was happy just do anything to begin with. Depends what your looking for.
  8. Mackay like to hire locals and alot of tickets/ lisences are required for type of wrk there..i would def go to gold coast..lots more opportunities..we started off in central/north qld...I got a job but my husband struggled due to not being local or having aus licenses for wrk sites...we went to brisbane for the weekend and he got a job in one day hes not a welder but I still think you will have better chance in brisbane/gold coast and would highly recommend you dnt go to mackay wthout a job lined up. Good luck
  9. I came to aus in july last year from devon too..in exeter I was on 457 visa initially now on 189 permanent visa..I did both visas myself and found them both very quick and straight forward..I had no problems. I read the immi website..took advice from this forum and got three agents who give first consultation free to give me bit of advice/info via email which ws helpful..cant remember who they were..just Googled a few. Unless you have unusual circumstances its easy to go it alone if you take time to read all available info and prepare paperwrk needed. I didnt like idea of someone else being in charge of visa either and me not having full control. .ppl on here sometimes want to contact case officer or do form80 n stuff n agent says no n they just need to wait..for me having an agent would be like having an unnecessary middle man who would just annoy me lol Good luck
  10. I was on a 457 and did it myself..its straight forward enough and if you are being sponsored by a company who is used to the process they can give you some pointers if u get stuck..I didnt need any though..just followed instructions online n had no problems
  11. Its no different from say..epilepsy that is controlled by medication (which i have) and that wasn't an issue for my visa .if hes functioning well and not had any lengthy hospital admissions etc then I cant see what problems or black crosses there would be...There would be an awful lot less ppl in aus if depression was a barrier I think!
  12. Marriage cert? I put in proof of adress too although that maybe wasnt needed
  13. I was living and wrking in qld and was going to go for 190 but wasnt eligible. .I spoke to them too n they said despite me wrking and living there already i would still need to meet all criteria... so i went for 189 instead..if you have points for 189 it makes sense to go for that and no extra fee
  14. I front loaded everything. .lodged 26th february and got grant 26th march...28 days good luck
  15. I done medicals before I lodged visa and got visa in 28 days. .I think it speeds things up as co can grant as soon as they look at visa rather than looking n then having to request things n wait for your response etc
  16. Anmac is straight forward enough if not claiming points for wrk experience..I found it the easiest part out of ahpra n visa..I had to send my academic transcript too
  17. If you register wth ahpra first u dnt need ielts
  18. We didn't visit first..just wanted to come so got visa and done it..I knew I wanted to experience living here so visiting first would not have been helpful in scratching my itch. .just waste of money to me but everyone feels differently abt that...ive not seen a snake yet. .they are around..my husband has seen lots as he works outside in long grass but I haven't n never really think abt it
  19. You dont register with anmac, you have your skills assessed by them..you register with ahpra and ahpra need a cv...also if you apply to anmac first you will need to take academic ielts..you may need to take ielts anyway for visa points.
  20. Have u no other visa options??
  21. Landed in sydney with intention of settling there. .lasted 3 months.. I hated it so much, couldn't wait to get out..moved states n happier now...I never told anyone I met how miserable I was there coz that could b insulting to those who live there and its also a bit depressing to moan on like that so instead i told ppl of all the fun stuff I did in nsw...while secretly planning my escape
  22. I wouldn't count diploma as degree on visa but I dnt know..it may count as same as degree for being registered/assessed as a nurse but i wouldn't claim points for it on visa...you will need to read up on that..any info you get always get it collaborated elsewhere..dnt take one persons word for things. .maybe someone else on here will know more..I had the degree so didnt need to look into this
  23. Yes you can apply yourself..it is easy if you take the time to read everything and are good with details n organizing etc...you could pay an agent too if you can afford it n if you find these types of things stressful..its personal choice..I done mine alone and had no problems. Yes you need anmac before you go anywhere near visa..currently it takes 16 weeks for anmac 60 days once you are invited You can do health requirements before applying for visa through 'my health declerations' and 'emedical client' or you can apply for visa and wait to be asked for them as many ppl prefer to do..medicals last 12 months All the info u need is on immi website, anmac, ielts n ahpra websites too..here is good resource and some agents will give you first consult free which can add to your knowledge if doing it alone Good luck
