  1. Not nice...to me it was cold, polluted, difficult to communicate with alot of ppl in shops, buses etc as I don't speak mandarin, it felt a bit tired and I didnt feel safe alot of the time...im hoping someone will come on and tell you its good points as im sure there is many..it just wasnt for me

  3. It has a large asian community and asian feel in regards to shops, food etc...more chinese ppl than australian and more ppl speak mandarin than english...I didnt like it so didnt stay long...good public transport links though..what would you like to know?
  4. That is very true!
  5. My 'best friend' of 20yrs stopped talking to me completely and still doesnt..I didnt go on about aus to her as i tend not to talk about things in detail until its definitely happening..ie stepping on the plane but she knew it was my plan and about 3 months before we left she text and asked if i was definitely going..i said yes and we haven't spoke since..weird for her kids as i was godmother too...I sent her a quick note saying goodbye before we left but didn't dwell on it. .i would be in aus n never see her anyway. .ppl change..our lives change..new ppl to meet....also her dad died last month...she never told me..strange but true!

    Ielts!!

What part did u get the 6.5 in? You maybe could ask for a remark to get 7. I had to resit three times for one poor score..each time the crap score was in a different section! I would just go ahead wth ahpra.
  8. I dont think 457 visas have upper age limits like other visas...and you can wrk for upto 4 years in aus...you would need to find a job to sponsor you and have a medical..register with ahpra too...healthstaffrecruitment are very good..will find u a sponsor and go through process wth you..
  9. Ahh I only know the one in central Queensland. .hopefully someone else can help I can say that I love brisbane more than anywhere else I have ever been though..good luck
  10. My 457 to be transferred at the end of last year took 4 or 5 days..I have no idea abt your other question..hopefully someone else can help
  11. They have not updated the website..when I asked immi they said the info on the website is still relating to when paper based applications werre the norm. .but uncertified colour scans are accepted..i done all documents this way and there was no problem
  12. Even rupert? Lol ' in which case everyone's a winner'
  13. Thanks..the problem is im in love wth rupert..but someone told me rupert may be feminine..I am confused..do I let me emotions or my gender rule..
  14. I dont know what your talking about rupert..male..females..lunacy? What????
  15. Police station wont do it...well most wont..they have signs up telling ppl to stop asking lol take it to your local court and get it done there for free or small fee...or you can pay a solicitor who is also a notary to certify it for a fee
  16. Thats your opinion rupert..mines is that one day our gender will not matter..yes we may still be born wth physical characteristics different from each other but they will not indicate which partner we should have...which job..which clothes. .there will be no gender expectations..we will not refer to ppl as male or female..just people...i may be wrong but my opinion is no more 'codswallop' or 'a waste of time' than yours, thanks

    Splitting up?!

I am considering it but not just because one wants to live here n one somewhere else but also as it highlights the differences in ppl..the different outlooks, goals, plans, strengths n weaknesses. .something that maybe we didnt see in each other before...
  18. You could get a 457 sponsored visa..only lasts 4 years though..they will probably tell u abt this at seminar as they are always pushing them on nurses..ok visa for nurses if u have no family. ..and you can apply for pr later from aus...also u dnt NEED ielts for nursing but is the only way to get quick extra points for visa
  19. Yes masters will be easier here I think but also some of it a bit pointless for us (well the np one looks harder n u need to take a leadership role with it)..not a lot of options anywhere for post grad study for mh nurses in aus compared to uk...there is lots of jobs in regional areas likes townsville..I have interview there for a senior nurse position in acute inpatient next week but dont know if I will do it. .the limited accesss to things is wearing a bit thin now and I would prefer to be in a more metro area (nt as many jobs there)...and your partner may struggle to find wrk..depending on what he does as only certain jobs here n they hire locals...but wth mh nursing they dnt care where u are from as cant get many local ppl to fill positions...qld health are good to wrk for. Im 33 in june..still young in our careers.
  20. Yes ielts is a good way to get extra points so you should def be doing that..working in uk first for a short time would make it easier...which visa are you thinking of applying for?

    Aphra

You dont need a visa to go over on holiday and complete registration..alot of ppl do that...but I have heard ahpra have changed so that now ppl dnt need to turn up in person and can do it online..you should ask ahpra if u can do that instead if you dnt want to visit aus
  22. The 5 years experience is just for the nurse practitioners course..not all masters...ive looked at doing a masters here too but much of what they cover is what uk mental health nurses already did in the degree so feel some of it would be a waste of time for the money I'd be paying!..Im interested in forensics too..im going to go back to the uk to do a masters I think..much better options..anyway I felt the same abt missing studying but you learn soooo much in your first year of nursing. ..and then sooo much again in your first year of nursing in aus that you need time just to let all that settle in your brain!..im glad I waited now and will probably look at starting study end of this year when i have 3 yrs experience
  23. But you could still shout about it!
