1. I got the same email about there being a message in my skillselect account. There doesn't seem to be one. Weird By the way, has anyone got a link re; uploading colour copies of various documents (such as passport and skills assessment)
2. Cheers Eddie, that'll save me a job!
3. Hi Folks, I'm working though my 190 visa application and I don't know which documents I need to have certified. I assumed that it was everything that I will need to upload, but I have seen comments on here that suggest that (some?) documents won't need certification if they are colour copies (presumably uploaded as PDFs) Is there a link anywhere that provides the definitive answer? I'm confused!:confused:
4. I received an invitation yesterday from SA!! Thanks for the advice folks!!!!
5. I've applied for SA! Better luck this time I hope. Thanks so much for the advice everyone!
6. I've just checked SA again....maybe there is some hope...???
7.

Gez are you sure you need a job offer for SA SS?.....double check. You likely do for WA but SA may be different... I'm not disagreeing with you but please do check as I can't see where it says you need a job offer x

8. Hi Eddie, ICT PM isn't on the 189 list, so state sponsorship was my only viable option. WA & SA both have ICT PMs on their lists, but you need a job offer and we all know how difficult that would be! And yes, I have 65 points at the moment, although I'm 39 in July so I don't have all that much time to try something else. I've amended my EOI from specifying Victoria to any states, but I can't see that working. I'm completely gutted and I'm not sure what plan B could be. Thanks for the kind words everyone. G
9. Absolutely gutted! 70 points as an ICT project manager; rejected! The email below doesn't look like I have any options at all. Good luck to all of you who successfully move to Australia. Thank you for your application for Victorian Government nomination under the 190 - Skilled Nominated visa scheme. Following a review of your application, we regret to inform you that you have not been selected for visa nomination by the Victorian Government. Your application for Victorian Government state nomination was reviewed individually and assessed with a focus on your ability to address a number of criteria, including:  your ability to meet the minimum eligibility criteria,  the demand for your particular skills and expertise, and your ability to find work in Victoria,  the suitability and transferability of your qualifications, skills and experience – including any specialist capabilities – to the needs of Victoria’s labour market,  your ability and commitment to establishing yourself, and any dependents, in Victoria  the number of nomination applications received relative to the number of nomination places available for your occupation. Victoria receives a high number of very strong applications for state nomination and only the very highest calibre candidates with the strongest skills, experience and opportunity for finding work in Victoria’s labour market are selected for Victorian state nomination. The Victorian Government uses independent industry panels to provide advice on the suitability of applicants to Victoria’s labour market. These industry representatives also provide advice on the demand for individual applicants’ qualifications, skills and experience, and prospects for employment in Victoria. While your application demonstrated your ability to meet the minimum eligibility requirements for Victorian state nomination, other applicants were able to more adequately demonstrate their suitability for employment in Victoria. There are other visa pathways for highly skilled workers who want to live and work in Victoria and we encourage you to investigate other visa options on the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) website: http://www.immi.gov.au. We wish you all the best for your future endeavours.
10. Hi all, has anyone received nomination from Vic in March? Also, does anyone know, or could hazard a guess at any overall ceilings that they might have for 190 visas? thanks, G
11. 75% - just scraped in.....and I've got a history degree!!!
12. I got my positive skills assessment this morning, so EOI and Vic application all done! I'm delighted! Hope to meet you for a beer in Melbourne some time later this year :-)
13. We're thinking of bayside, south east Melbourne. Perhaps Sandringham or maybe further out in somewhere like Mount Eliza. I guess our decision will in some part be dependant on the job I manage to secure, although plan A will be to contract in the CBD so a rental on a train line would probably work out well. Out of interest, did you complete your EOI before your VIC SS? I've assumed that is the correct order, although the VIC pages seem somewhat contradictory. Regards, Gez
14. My experience of working in IT departments in energy and utility companies in the UK sounds quite similar to many of the experiences people are discussing in Oz, namely getting your foot in the door is difficult and based upon who you know. Once you have managed to get in, it's down to the individual... Regards, Gez
15. Thanks Eddie, Whilst I realise that I'm not the only person who is nervous about their job prospects, it is still nice to hear confirmation that this feeling of excitement mixed with terror is not unique! Good luck with your journey mate. You're a little further down the road than me, as I'm waiting for a skills assessmentbefore I complete my EOI etc. where are you planning on heading to? Cheers Gez
